Families Face Critical Home Care Decisions with Little Information: NPDA Assists with Free Sept. 23rd Web Conference

Families face critical home care decisions with little information. The non-profit National Private Duty Association (NPDA) has announced that it will host a consumer education web conference entitled Home Safe Home: Making Informed Senior Care Decisions on Sept. 23, 2010, at 7 p. m. CDT.

Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) September 13, 2010

Families searching for home care to help a loved one age in place at home face a daunting task: navigating the maze of tens of thousands of individuals and businesses who market themselves as home care providers. Complicating the task is lack of knowledge among consumers about their options.

For example, national studies show that less than one-third of adult children who have senior parents are familiar with in-home non-medical care services. The percentage of familiarity is just slightly higher for in-home medical care.

The non-profit National Private Duty Association (NPDA) has announced that it will host a consumer education web conference entitled Home Safe Home: Making Informed Senior Care Decisions on Sept. 23, 2010, at 7 p. m. CDT. The live and interactive program, which will provide advice on hiring a home care provider, is free of charge to participants.

“The goal of this valuable program is to offer solutions to anyone seeking quality care for a family member,” said Sheila McMackin, MSW, LCSW, president of NPDA. “Finding the right type of at-home care for loved ones can be a challenge. Our presenters are experts in the field and will provide invaluable information and guidance.”

The web conference topics include understanding the different types of home care providers, including service levels and associated costs; important differences between provider types, and informational resources to help you find a home care provider.

Pre-registration for the event is required. Sign up today by visiting the registration link at www. privatedutyhomecare. org.

The NPDA is the first and only association in the country dedicated exclusively to private pay home care providers. The NPDA, a non-profit organization, currently represents more than 1,100 home care agencies in forty-four states and Puerto Rico.
