Imani Winds to Tread New Territories for 2005-06 Season

Imani Winds to Tread New Territories for 2005-06 Season

True to its founding mission since 1997, the African American/Latino woodwind quintet Imani Winds continues to push new cultural and musical bounds in the upcoming season with a highly anticipated second Koch International Classics release featuring deeply personal repertoire -- classical and others inspired by South American and African rhythms; a full concert and residency schedule; and a multidisciplinary project entitled Josephine Baker -- A Life of Le Jazz Hot, which surveys the life and arts of the “Black Venus” from St. Louis who became an European cultural icon in first part of the 20th century.

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 28, 2006

True to its founding mission since 1997, the African American/Latino woodwind quintet Imani Winds continues to push new cultural and musical bounds in the upcoming season with a highly anticipated second Koch International Classics release featuring deeply personal repertoire -- classical and others inspired by South American and African rhythms; a full concert and residency schedule; and a multidisciplinary project entitled Josephine Baker -- A Life of Le Jazz Hot, which surveys the life and arts of the “Black Venus” from St. Louis who became an European cultural icon in first part of the 20th century.

Praised by Gramophone and Essence Magazine for “taking the wind quintet where it rarely ventures,” Imani Winds’ 2005 breakthrough recording The Classical Underground (Koch International Classics) successfully introduced the unique Imani style of classical music, one that’s infused with cultural references, effortless elegance and profound honesty. Its equally representative follow-up (yet to be titled), also from Koch International Classics, is scheduled for release in January 2006. The repertoire ranges from Maurice Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin to Astor Piazzolla’s Fuga e Misterio, among Titilayo by Jeff Scott, French hornist and resident composer of Imani Winds; Cinco Danzas Brevas by Mario Lavista; Oblivion by Astor Piazzolla, arranged by Jeff Scott; Umoja by Valerie Coleman, also resident composer and flutist of the Ensemble; and Afro Blue by Mongo Santamaria, arranged by Valerie Coleman.

The other highlight of the season is the momentous Josephine Baker - A Life of Le Jazz Hot in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Baker’s birth in 2006. Inspired by Ms. Baker’s pioneer spirit, Imani Winds conceptualized this three-segment, multi-faceted presentation in part as a reflection of its own uphill journey as an African-Americans/Latino wind quintet in the predominantly Euro-Asian classical music world. Entitled “Journey across the ocean,” “Elements of success,” and “Continuous rebirth,” each section comprises of American and French repertoire of Josephine Baker’s era, as well as renowned jazz vocalist René Marie singing signature works of Josephine Baker, film footage with original music, solo dance works choreographed by Christopher Huggins with original music by Valerie Coleman, and excerpts from Fred Ho’s Angels from the Rainbow commissioned by Imani Winds. The U. S. premiere takes place at Pittsburgh’s Kelly-Strayhorn Theatre of the African American Cultural Center in April 2006, followed by two additional engagements at University of Washington in St. Louis and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

On the concert front, Imani Winds traverses much of the United States in 2005-06, with highlights in New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Denver, and St. Louis. They continue to be a presence at Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, this year participating in an all-Legati program at Alice Tully Hall in New York.

The past summer brought the Ensemble multiple engagements with the Florida International Festival, as well as critically acclaimed concerts in Vancouver, Canada. The Group’s education outreach programs are also immensely popular with presenters and audiences alike, making them regulars among schools in New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Virginia.

InOverOurHeads Unscripted Jewish Reality Series Premiers on Jewish Life Television Network

InOverOurHeads Unscripted Jewish Reality Series Premiers on Jewish Life Television Network

InOverOurHeads, the first unscripted Jewish reality television series, premiers today on the first global network devoted to what it means to be Jewish, JLTV - the Jewish Life Television Network. InOverOurHeads sneaks a peek at the crazy lives of a few close friends. Coping with the realities of their restless existence as young, Jewish parents, they debate the absurd, laugh at convention, and reevaluate their ideals in a humorous, yet introspective way. Maintaining a decorum not quite fitting for shul [synagogue], the topics wander into sensitive areas such as marriage, parenting, religion, gender issues, and education. The discussions are honest and irreverent, often with a deep spiritual undertone. They rip apart stereotypes of observant Jews - although like most Jews, they hardly ever agree. InOverOurHeads airs Tuesdays at 8pm Eastern and 9pm Pacific, broadcasting nationwide on DirecTV channel 366, in select metropolitan areas via nationwide affiliations with Time Warner and Comcast, and online at http://www. jltv. tv. (Please see http://www. inoverourheads. com for additional air times.) JLTV currently reaches 26 million homes and is anticipated to expand to 40 million homes by year end.

Sharon, MA (PRWEB) May 5, 2010

InOverOurHeads, the first unscripted Jewish reality television series, premiers today on the first global network devoted to what it means to be Jewish, JLTV - the Jewish Life Television Network. InOverOurHeads sneaks a peek at the crazy lives of a few close friends. Coping with the realities of their restless existence as young, Jewish parents, they debate the absurd, laugh at convention, and reevaluate their ideals in a humorous, yet introspective way. Maintaining a decorum not quite fitting for shul (synagogue), the topics wander into sensitive areas such as marriage, parenting, religion, gender issues, and education. The discussions are honest and irreverent, often with a deep spiritual undertone. They rip apart stereotypes of observant Jews - although like most Jews, they hardly ever agree.

InOverOurHeads airs Tuesdays at 8pm Eastern and 9pm Pacific, broadcasting nationwide on DirecTV channel 366, in select metropolitan areas via nationwide affiliations with Time Warner and Comcast, and online at jltv. tv (http://www. jltv. tv). (Please see inoverourheads. com (http://www. inoverourheads. com) for additional air times.) “InOverOurHeads is extraordinary content,” says Allan Kass, industry veteran and JLTV Senior Vice President. “InOverOurHeads marks a new direction in programming for JLTV.” JLTV currently reaches 26 million homes and is anticipated to expand to 40 million homes by year end. “InOverOurHeads is a cross between Friends and the Real House Wives (and husband) of Boston, with a Jewish flair,” continues Ian Schorvitz, Executive Director Scheduling and Acquisitions at JLTV. “We are excited to have it on JLTV.”

“InOverOurHeads represent a fulfillment of my lifelong dream to create quality Jewish television,” says executive producer Malkah Winter. A mother of five, Malkah appears in the show and somehow manages to find time to personally direct and edit the show out of her Sharon studio – a testament to her passion for this endeavor. A graduate of Tufts University, she studied at Parsons School of Design and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Malkah developed an interest in Jewish entertainment as a young child. “Hollywood legends like Tony Curtis got their start in my father’s theater,” shares Malkah. Her father, Oscar Ostroff was a successful Yiddish theater owner, producing much of his own material for his Douglas Park Theater in Chicago and other theaters he ran around the Los Angeles area. “The American Yiddish Theater played a pivotal role for new Jewish immigrants,” shares Malkah. “It was a creative expression that provided people an opportunity reexamine their Jewish identity outside of the shtetl [village]. We hope to use InOverOurHeads as an artistic vehicle to better understand our personal connections to Judaism and Torah.”

The premier episode “Living Waters” explores the mikveh, Jewish ritual bath. Observant Jewish women abstain from marital relations for approximately 12 days following the onset of menses. The end of the period is marked by immersion in the mikveh. Cast member and stay-at-home mother of three Valerie Frank identifies herself as a Reform Jew and had never attended the mikveh before. Valerie meets with mikveh educators, shares thoughts with her husband and cast, and after 12 days of angst visits the Mayyim Hayyim community mikveh in Newton, Massachusetts.

"I didn't expect to be moved by going to the mikveh,” confides Valerie. “It was just something I wanted to try on for size; but something about it changed me in a profound way.” Valerie is a former member of the ImprovBoston comedy troupe. “We began filming the episode thinking about the mikveh as a separation,” continues Malkah. “What we found through our exploration is that mikveh is really about coming together and sometimes healing, in a way that goes far beyond the scope of family purity.”

An upcoming episode, “Happiness” explores the unique moments that make each of us happy. “For me happiness sometimes is just being able to do what I want to do … be myself,” says Yitzi Cusner. “Some people are legitimately only happy when they’re mad about something. I’m entitled to be negative if I want to.” Playing the cast curmudgeon, he often leaves the cast wondering whether he is truly bearing his soul, looking to incite a debate or just trying to catch a good laugh. Yitzi holds degrees in music, business, and law and recently became the father to his second daughter. “We wanted to be completely honest about our lives,” admits Valerie Frank. “People want to pretend that suburban parenting is perfect, the American dream. But it’s hard, and sometimes it isn’t perfect. Sometimes you love playing with your kids, and sometimes it’s painful. Not many people will admit to that aspect of parenting.”

InOverOurHeads is shot primarily in Sharon - a small, heavily wooded suburb of Boston. With seven synagogues (three of them Orthodox), Sharon is a unique community with a high (and highly diverse) concentration of Jews. Upcoming episodes also include “Expectations” - coping with community, parents, spouse, G-d, and self, “She Loves to Dance” - Orthodox Jewish moms gone wild, and “What Men Think” – dating in the Jewish world and an unaffiliated Jewish man’s visit to a shadchan (traditional Orthodox matchmaker).

InOverOurHeads will be available at inoverourheads. com (http://www. inoverourheads. com) one week after airing. Preliminary episodes have been featured twice as best user video on the Jewish TV Network, jewishtvnetwork. com (http://www. jewishtvnetwork. com), Jay Sanderson’s online Jewish media outlet based in Los Angeles. “We want the viewer to feel like they are part of the conversation,” shares Malkah. “Through Facebook, Twitter, and the InOverOurHeads website, viewers will have an opportunity to communicate with cast members and continue the conversation online.”

InOverOurHeads stars Malkah Winter, Valerie Frank, & Yitzi Cusner

NAMI Sponsors Congressional Briefing to Raise Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness

NAMI Sponsors Congressional Briefing to Raise Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness

Leading mental health experts speak about challenges people living with BPD face

Arlington, VA (PRWEB) May 19, 2010

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI (http://www. nami. org)), together with the National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder, today sponsored a congressional briefing on Borderline Personality Disorder (http://www. nami. org/Template. cfm? Section=By_Illness&Template=/TaggedPage/TaggedPageDisplay. cfm&TPLID=54&ContentID=44780)(BPD).

Approximately two million Americans live with BPD. Those living with the illness often experience difficulty regulating emotions, maintaining personal relationships and in some extreme cases, individuals will engage in self-harm. The illness is a primary cause of suicide.

Leading mental health experts, including Thomas Insel, M. D., director of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and John Oldan, M. D., president-elect of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), spoke with the group about the challenges people living with BPD face and treatment options.

“Borderline personality disorder is a serious mental illness that can cause a lot of suffering, carries a significant risk of suicide and requires an accurate diagnosis along with targeted treatment,” said NAMI Executive Director Michael Fitzpatrick.

“We know that treatment works, but too often stigma discourages people with mental illness from getting the help that they need. Untreated mental illness has significant personal, social and economic implications. We urge Congress to increase funding of research, treatment and services for those living with BPD and their families.”

About NAMI
NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. NAMI has over 1100 state and local affiliates that engage in research, education, support and advocacy.

Antanas "Tony" Levinskas, PhD, NCSP, a core faculty member in the school psychology specialization at Capella University, has been elected to the executive board of directors of the Minnesota School Psychologists Association (MSPA). Capella is an accredited* online university based in Minneapolis with nearly 85 percent of its students pursuing master's or PhD degrees. The online university's master's degree and specialist certificate programs in school psychology are designed around National Association of School Psychologists standards. Levinskas, whose three-year tenure on the MSPA board began July 1, says he is looking forward to working with the various association committees, including: continuing education, legislative, public relations, and professional practice and ethics. The MSPA is dedicated to informing and supporting school psychologists in Minnesota and has more than 225 members at this time. Levinskas said one of the important issues facing the newly elected MSPA board are the changes in IDEA 2004 (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and what they mean to school psychologists.

"Minnesota has many wonderfully talented school psychologists, and it is truly an honor to be able to serve them via the MSPA board. I'm excited about the opportunity to communicate and promote dialogue about the critical issues affecting school psychologists and the children and families we serve," said Levinskas, who has more than 10 years experience working as a school psychologist in a variety of school settings.

Demo Builder 5: Show Customers How to Work with Your Application

Version 5 of Demo Builder introduces 15 new features and enhancements that offer improved flexibility and efficiency in creating application simulations and tutorials

Mission, B. C, Canada (PRWEB) January 4, 2006

Tanida Software today announces the release of Demo Builder 5. Designed for the Windows OS, this application enables you to create Flash demos and tutorials for showcasing software products. Demo Builder captures your interaction with an application as a series of screenshots, which are automatically combined into an interactive movie with annotations, moving cursors, voiceovers and animation effects. This movie can be viewed in any browser and distributed as a self-running executable. Additional features include auto-annotation of your activities, built-in audio editor, and FTP upload.

Demo Builder is ideal for software developers, who want to create computer based tutorials for their application without having to learn a complex authoring tool, or spend money to outsource. Using the Demo Builder’s auto record and capture features, you can get started with your first demonstration in minutes. You simply start the recorder and take the actions you want to show in the tutorial. Demo Builder captures everything automatically. What’s more, it can even automatically add note annotations and balloon tooltips to your screen captures without you having to type a character. The result of the capture is a sequence of editable screenshots that function as a story board. You can then elaborate them by adding a multitude of objects and visual aids and manipulating the time sequencing for frames, objects, and visuals.

Improved Flexibility and Efficiency in Version 5

Version 5 of Demo Builder boasts many new features that help users create advanced demonstrations, CBTs and tutorials even quicker. Key new features include:

Record audio at movie capture or preview time. The new version allows you to record voiceover narration and sound during movie capture, preview or editing.  New events for interactive objects including OnRollOver. New events for interactive objects (buttons, click zones, edit zones) give you more control over how your movies behave in response to user actions. Each event has its own timeline. This allows you to precisely control the separate and specific sequencing of display and behaviors for that event. For each of these events, you can add an action to take or an audio to be played.  AutoCalculate SizeAutoCalculate Time. The AutoCalculate Size feature lets you size your text area to automatically fit the amount of entered text in balloons, buttons, and notes. The AutoCalculate Time automatically adjusts the object’s timing in the timeline based on the settings of the reading speed property in preferences.  New animations. Animations have been redesigned, more animation categories, choose from colors and set the direction of motion for your animations.  Consistency. You can maintain consistency of “look and feel” at a single click. For balloons, buttons, notes, and texts you can now apply your chosen font style or formatting to all objects of the same type using the enhanced font properties editor.  Localize your movie for international distribution. A new Localize wizard lets you export your movie caption text (balloons, notes, texts) to the DOC format, and then import the text translated in the desired language back to the movie.

Rapper 50 Cent And Celebrity Sports Agent Glenn Toby Put Their Money Where Their Hearts Are For NYC’s Homeless

Multi-Platinum Artist 50 Cent and the G-Unity Foundation Handsomely Contribute For Second Year In A Row To Glenn Toby’s Book Bank Foundation Holiday Distribution Spectacular For the Homeless.

(PRWEB) December 22, 2005

For a second year in a row, 50 Cent and the G-Unity Foundation has stepped up to directly aid NYC’s homeless population by generously contributing an undisclosed amount to the Book Bank Foundation’s annual holiday clothing distribution spectacular.

Founded by celebrity sports agent Glenn Toby, the Book Bank Foundation is known for transforming New York City homeless shelters such as The Bowery Mission into free one-day holiday super stores that are stocked with brand new clothing, toys and over the counter medicine. On Friday, December 23, 2005, thanks to the generous contributions of 50 Cent, corporate donators and Glenn Toby, the Book Bank Foundation will be taking its distribution crusade a step further this year.

In addition to distributing at the Bowery Mission, the Book Bank Foundation will distribute over $150,000 dollars worth of brand new clothing, toys, shoes and over the counter medicine to three other NYC area shelters. “50 Cent is a man of his word and the Book Bank Foundation thanks him and the G-Unity Foundation for continually joining us as fighters in this battle against poverty and suffering,” says BBF founder Glenn Toby.

As a result of the literal overflow of the homeless onto New York City streets due to the current MTA transit strike, Glenn Toby and the Book Bank Foundation will also distribute clothing on various street corners to people in need that are unable to gain entry into any shelters due to capacity restrictions. “Growing up homeless for almost eight years as a child has given me a deep insight into the importance of cutting red tape and sharing blessings directly with people in need,” says Toby.

This year’s recipients will be assisted on-site by a plethora of recording artists and celebrities including Doug E. Fresh, Hip Hop violinist Miri Ben Ari and others.

Chicago Plastic Surgeon Discusses the Importance of Choosing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Chicago Plastic Surgeon Discusses the Importance of Choosing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

At the Aesthetic Institute of Chicago, a practice offering plastic surgery in Chicago and the surrounding region, Dr. Brian M. Braithwaite recently discussed the importance of choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon when considering cosmetic or reconstructive surgery.

Chicago, IL (Vocus) July 27, 2010

A recent study by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) showed a 147% increase in surgical and non-surgical cosmetic enhancement procedures between 1997 and 2009. Dr. Brian M. Braithwaite, a plastic surgeon in Chicago, recently discussed the importance of choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon as aesthetic enhancement becomes more prevalent.

When considering cosmetic procedures such as breast augmentation in Chicago, Dr. Braithwaite says board-certification is an essential component for any significant life decision like plastic surgery because of the rigorous qualification process. He added that the necessary education and experience gained during that process further enhances his patients’ safety and likelihood of satisfactory results when undergoing aesthetic enhancement treatment at the Aesthetic Institute of Chicago.

Dr. Braithwaite offers a wide range of surgical and non-surgical procedures, from injectable fillers to liposuction in Chicago. With liposuction alone, he says there are a number of techniques used today, and board-certified plastic surgeons like himself are the most qualified to examine all the options and deliver the safest treatment with the best possible outcome.
Regardless of whether his patients are considering a complete makeover, or individual treatments like a tummy tuck in Chicago, Dr. Braithwaite says experienced board-certified plastic surgeons are uniquely trained to perform the full range of body contouring procedures. With the numerous options and techniques that are available for aesthetic enhancement, he says board-certification provides another essential level of safety, which in turn allows him to provide each patient with a clear understanding of their plastic surgery treatment plan.

With over 10 million surgical and non-surgical aesthetic enhancement procedures performed in the U. S. in 2009, Dr. Braithwaite says board-certification is a key indicator of a surgeon’s skills and qualifications because of the challenging evaluation process, which has heavily influenced his ability to deliver superb cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery results.

About Brian M. Braithwaite, MD, FACS

Dr. Braithwaite earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his general surgery residency at Keesler Medical Center, and went on to train in plastic surgery at the University of Louisville. After practicing as a staff plastic surgeon at the Bethesda Naval Medical Center and becoming the Chief of Plastic Surgery there, he was named Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Braithwaite and the Aesthetic Institute of Chicago can be found at 601 West Randolph St. in Chicago, IL 60661, and can be reached at (312) 361-8108 or http://www. drbraithwaite. com/

Religious Beliefs are more Similar than We Might like to Acknowledge with regard to Misogyny, Sexism, and Gender Inequality

Religious Beliefs are more Similar than We Might like to Acknowledge with regard to Misogyny, Sexism, and Gender Inequality

In Gender and Religion, Dr. Barbara Crandall addresses the relationship between centuries of sexism against women and the five major religions of the modern world

LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWEB) December 28, 2006

Barbara Crandall never expected that her career in medical genetics would lead to an investigation into the origins of gender inequality still rampant today. Repeated observations of women involved in decisions, some faith-based, on issues such as abortion and birth control inspired Crandall to look further into causes of atrocities perpetuated against women, sometimes by themselves, throughout history and in countries around the world.

In light of the United States' internal war over a woman's right to choose, sex education in schools, and AIDS prevention, Gender and Religion aptly points out staggering similarities in the ways Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have supported the many cases of unequal and even brutal treatment of women that still continues to the present day. Crandall encompasses not only issues of health but also those involving child custody, career choice, education, and the ability to participate fully in the religion of one's choosing.

Of paramount importance in Crandall's thesis is a pattern within the five major religions of initial equality between the sexes followed by increasing oppression of women throughout the progression of belief, scripture, and practice. Crandall maintains an observant but carefully objective eye, neither slandering nor supporting religion and faith. What she does support, however, is a clear separation of "church and state" if women worldwide are ever going to achieve the rights and opportunities that some take for granted but that so many do not have.

Brooks Institute & Pratt Institute Collaborate With Nissan To Think "Outside Of The Cube"

Brooks Institute & Pratt Institute Collaborate With Nissan To Think "Outside Of The Cube"

Brooks Institute has partnered with Nissan North America (NNA) to introduce the new Nissan Cube, a 5-door, mini multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) built on a B-platform.

Ventura, Calif. (Vocus) January 23, 2008

Brooks Institute has partnered with Nissan North America (NNA) to introduce the new Nissan Cube, a 5-door, mini multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) built on a B-platform. The project, Cube-ism: Automobile Meets Art, puts this vehicle, currently sold only in Japan, in the hands of U. S. film and design students. Students from Brooks Institute's School of Film and Television, in Ventura, Calif., and Pratt Institute, in New York City, were selected to participate in the Cube project, which tasks with creating provocative films and designs that communicate the Nissan Cube's unique personality and style. The final creative will be shown at 2008 New York International Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Convention Center from March 21st-30th, 2008.

"The students are bringing such creative and unique concepts to this project," says Bruce Campbell, vice president of design, Nissan Design America. "As a company that consistently recognizes and implements new design, we at Nissan are very excited to see the output."

Each school has received Nissan Cubes from Japan. Participants will spend almost four months with the car as they work to interpret and communicate the essence of the vehicle. Both the film students from Brooks Institute and the design students from Pratt presented concept directions at the outset of the project for Nissan review and have been meeting with Nissan for periodic updates.

Brooks Institute's film students will create a short film, 5-10 minutes in length that highlights the essence of the Nissan Cube; while the fashion and industrial design students from Pratt will enhance the Cube with changes in exterior colors, graphics, seat materials and wheel treatments.

Students at Brooks Institute are taking this opportunity to work with new technologies to create an innovative concept for the project. Brooks students are shooting the project on the new "Red" camera system. One of the students is the 79th person in the world to own it. The Red system is a new kind of high definition video that is designed to be similar to traditional film while offering new ways to manipulate the image.

Film Faculty member Rich Fortinberry who is overseeing this project is excited for students to have this wonderful opportunity. "What is most exciting about this project is the way Nissan is approaching marketing in an entirely new way. Nissan benefits by capturing the students' perception of the car; the students are interpreting the car for their peers. This by all means will not be an amateur production. These selected students are sophisticated, specialized, and proficient in what they do. They're using innovative equipment and material with the high definition Red Camera and using advanced special effects software. It's amazing to watch."

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 26, 2008

StatCom, the leading provider of patient flow logistics and tracking solutions, announced that it has been selected to implement its enterprise solution at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center located in Toledo, Ohio, to automate patient flow processes and improve operations.

St. Vincent, a 500 bed full service hospital, is the critical care regional referral and teaching center within the Mercy Health Partners system, a seven hospital faith-based system serving Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. They are a member of Catholic Healthcare Partners (CHP) which consists of 36 hospitals. The hospital has undertaken a facility wide initiative to improve patient flow efficiencies.

"We were delighted that St. Vincent selected StatCom to help with their patient flow challenges," said Eric Morgan, president and CEO of StatCom. "They exemplify an organization that can benefit significantly from the StatCom technology. They have the drive, the initiative and the vision to truly excel. StatCom's patient flow logistics solution is an operational system that will provide the required technology foundation for St. Vincent to build on as they strive to enhance the performance of their organization. This will allow them to better serve their patients and the community. We are pleased to have the opportunity to assist them."

"We see technology as a key to helping us accomplish our operational and patient care goals," said Michael McEachern, president and CEO of St. Vincent. "StatCom can help us change from an organization that's vertically oriented and excels in departmental performance, to one that has horizontal processes which will significantly improve performance across the board and ultimately improve the patient experience. Incorporating StatCom as part of our improvement effort represents a paradigm shift with the goal of achieving an industry leading performance."

By incorporating the StatCom enterprise solution across the facility, St. Vincent will be able to manage patient location information and determine room status in real time rather than making phone calls or manual room checks. The StatCom system provides patient information to physicians, staff and family as to the location and status of the patient's progression throughout the care process. As a result, StatCom complements hospital information and scheduling systems for instant communication, patient and resource tracking, and automated patient flow. This will enable hospital staff to anticipate demand and manage departmental handoffs and bottlenecks more effectively.

Visit StatCom at booth #3901 at the HIMSS conference in Orlando, FL, February 25 - 28.
