American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine Honors the 2010 Diplomates of ABDSM

American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine Honors the 2010 Diplomates of ABDSM

Sleep Group Solutions support Diplomates with the treatment of Sleep Apnea

Miami, Fl (Vocus/PRWEB) December 27, 2010

The latest issue of “Dialogue”, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine’spublication honors the Diplomates of 2010 for the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. The Diplomates went through a rigorous 8 month process of exams, applications, letters of recommendation, case studies and pre requisite positions. Out of many applicants, only 11 were awarded the title of Diplomates in the industry of Dental Sleep Medicine. The need for practitioners to hold specific knowledge and skills in Dental Sleep Medicine continues to rapidly grow, as does the awareness of OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea).

Diplomate status recognizes dentists licensed by law who’ve successfully completed the board certification requirements established by the ABDSM. Diplomates are recognized by patients, colleagues, professional organizations in both medicine and dentistry as having met the highest level of DSM knowledge. “Becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine was intense, and worthwhile. It lead to an increase in sleep physician referrals, as being credentialed gives more credibility from both a physician and patient standpoint.” Says Dr. Manoj Maggan on his recent Diplomate status. “I wanted the credentials because we realized DSM would play a very important role in the treatment of OSA, and CPAP therapy can not be tolerated by everyone.”

With the help of technology and continuing education, more doctors are beginning to treat Sleep Apnea patients in house. Companies such as Sleep Group Solutions offer advanced acoustic diagnostic imaging, home sleep test, in office training and seminars to raise awareness of OSA and get doctor involvement. “PCP’s and dentists tend to see the most patients, they can boost awareness of the disorder, and successfully treat it.” Says Rani Ben-David, President of Sleep Group Solutions. “We have many doctors (clients) who have saved lives and cured diseases, all by treating OSA.”

With a proven track record of success, education, and technology-It’s no wonder why Sleep Group Solutions has the largest Medical / Dental sleep apnea treatment network in the world. Calling a majority (7 out of 11) of 2010 Diplomates of the ABDSM, clients. “We've worked with Sleep Group Solutions from the very beginning, they’re very knowledgeable and professional in the field of DSM.” Dr. Maggan comments on Sleep Group Solutions. Most of doctors who lecture for Sleep Group Solutions, are also Diplomates in Dental Sleep Medicine.

Congratulations to all the 2010 Diplomates of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine!

The solution will help Surrenda-link automate its asset management processes from contract origination through to completion. It will also help Surrenda-link improve client reporting and reduce costs related to administrative overheads, and will help support the firm's ongoing expansion in the U. S. life settlement market, where it is already a market leader.

London, UK (PRWeb UK) July 2, 2009

Surrenda-link Investment Management (Surrenda-link), a leading fund manager and investment advisor specialising in Traded Life Investments, has commenced implementation of SunGard's Ambit Leasing & Asset Based Finance solution. The solution will help Surrenda-link automate its asset management processes from contract origination through to completion. It will also help Surrenda-link improve client reporting and reduce costs related to administrative overheads, and will help support the firm's ongoing expansion in the U. S. life settlement market, where it is already a market leader.

To support its business growth and a clearly defined global business strategy, Surrenda-link had identified the need for a solution to help improve its data management and reporting capabilities. This solution would also need to support and integrate with Surrenda-link's existing in-house modeling and valuation functions. SunGard's Ambit met these needs by offering Surrenda-link automated reporting and a single, hosted platform for viewing data.

Jeremy Brettell, chief executive at Surrenda-link Investment Management, said: "We had a clearly defined need for a solution that would help us to produce more intuitive and up-to-date reports on the investment portfolios of and for our clients, as well as integrate with key existing systems. The Ambit Leasing & Asset Based Finance solution was identified as providing us with a flexible technology platform, capable of joint development with the SunGard team, that would automate and improve reporting. At the same time, it could help us to deliver client services in our specialist market sector that we believe will be ahead of any competitor capability. Furthermore, the hosted model will help us to keep costs down in the face of these process improvements."

Dave Barrett, chief operating officer at SunGard's Ambit Leasing & Asset Based Finance business unit, commented: "Increasingly, organizations such as Surrenda-link are choosing to turn to outside vendors for technological application support. This is an effective and cost-efficient option for firms that want to reap the benefits of automation without the upfront capital that is traditionally related to new infrastructure builds."

Voting Rights Advocates Call On Justice Department To Enforce Federal Voter Registration Law

Voting Rights Advocates Call On Justice Department To Enforce Federal Voter Registration Law

Leading national voting rights organizations Demos and Project Vote asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to look into states' poor implementation of the 11 year-old National Voter Registration Act (NVRA). Even though voter registration at public assistance agencies is one of the law's core mandates, voter participation numbers among low income citizens are lower than ever. Uneven enforcement of NVRA has cost hundreds of thousands of low-income citizens their opportunity to register to vote.

New York, NY/Washington, DC (PRWEB) August 18, 2004

This week two leading national voting rights organizations, Demos and Project Vote, asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to take action to improve statesÂ’ compliance with the Nation Voter Registration Act (NVRA) and ensure easy access to voter registration for thousands of citizens.

As landmark civil rights legislation, the NVRA created several mechanisms to make it easier for citizens to register to vote, including the requirement that states provide voter registration services to all applicants in public assistance agencies. Every day, however, thousands of unregistered citizens visiting public assistance offices are not presented with the opportunity to register to vote, despite state and federal law.

Eleven years after becoming law, and nine years after it was upheld in Federal court, the NVRA remains poorly implemented in most states. Agencies that are required to offer voter registration services – including those providing food stamps, disability services, Medicaid and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) – are ill-equipped to register voters. These agencies often go days or weeks without registering a voter, even if they have the required materials and training.

Although one of the NVRAÂ’s core mandates is to increase voting in low-income households, the dismal implementation record has meant that low-income Americans still have the lowest voter registration rates. While fewer than 60 percent of citizens in households earning $25,000 or less annually say they are registered, the rate jumps to over 80 percent for citizens in households earning more than $75,000.

“Recognizing that low-income Americans are among those least likely to visit motor vehicle offices, most likely to frequently change their address, and least likely to vote,” said Miles Rapoport, President of Demos, “Congress designed the NVRA to ease voter registration access to Americans with the least representation and most to lose in elections.”

The latest Federal Election Commission (FEC) reports on NVRA implementation show most states yielding a decline in voter registrations at public assistance agencies. For years 2001 and 2002, the national average for voters registered in agencies was just under 3 percent, with many states falling between 0 and 2 percent.

“The decline in voter registration in welfare agencies is occurring despite evidence that millions of low-income citizens are not registered,” said Maxine Nelson, President of Project Vote. “Participation in these programs has been rising steadily for several years, so there is no reason for registration performance at these agencies to remain so low.”

From field observations, Project Vote and Demos have found a number of barriers to NVRA compliance on the statewide level, including:

Voter registration procedures either do not exist for entire programs that are required to comply with the NVRA or are practically non-existent due to lax performance;

Voter registration is not provided to clients when they change their addresses, even though this is the most important time to offer voter registration services and is required under the NVRA;

Office materials missing required language for voter registration services;

Agency staff members that have not been trained in voter registration procedures;

Agencies using voter registration applications that were not current and, thus, election authorities could not process these clientsÂ’ voter registrations;

Agencies and election authorities unable to account for how many registrations have taken place by the agencies -- as required by law for bi-annual reporting to Congress.

However, there are a few states that have successfully implemented NVRA provisions and model its potential. According to FEC data, in 2001 and 2002, Nevada reported that registrations at public assistance agencies accounted for close to 20 percent of newly registered voters – more than eight times the national average. Arizona, Connecticut, Iowa, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Washington have also recently taken promising steps to improve their NVRA procedures

“We know that the law works – when properly implemented – and the potential is huge. With more than one million people applying just for food stamps each month, this law can go a long way towards insuring that the elderly, poor and disabled have equal access to their most fundamental right in a democracy,” said Maude Hurd, President of Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN).

PR Company Expands Despite Tough Economic Climate

PR Company Expands Despite Tough Economic Climate

UK PR Company Punch Communications has expanded its team of consultants to eight and is continuing to recruit due to significant number of account wins and a steady stream of new business enquiries despite the currently tough economic climate.

London, England (PRWEB) February 4, 2009

UK PR Company Punch Communications has expanded its team of consultants to eight and is continuing to recruit due to significant number of account wins and a steady stream of new business enquiries despite the currently tough economic climate.

Christie Hobbs joins the team as its latest recruit, moving from Marbella - where she ran numerous travel, lifestyle campaigns for a Spanish PR Company - back to her roots in the East Midlands. Christie joins the team as a Senior Account Executive and will be working alongside the team on a broad range of accounts, from automotive, to consumer, to technology clients.

With the business having grown around 500% in 18 months, the agency is also currently eyeing other expansion options, in terms of additional offices in other UK cities. The agency is intentionally top heavy, with six of the current team of eight being either Account Manager or Account Directors, ensuring that the business is able to offer senior consultancy and draw upon extensive experience to deliver campaign success.

As the business expands, it has diversified into a number of relatively new sectors - including Automotive and Education, which are both specialisms that the business offers alongside both high technology, consumer technology and lifestyle/FMCG clients. The business also works with clients in the construction, sports, music and gaming sectors, amongst others.

In particular, the team is a strong advocate of leading edge communications tools, such as Twitter and Digg for example. The team has a wide usage of social networking, from the obvious (Linked In, Plaxo and Facebook) to those that are less mainstream, such as Xing, Naymz, Plaxo, Ecademy, Econsultancy, Delicious, Qype and TripIt.

Pete Goold, Managing Director of Punch Communications, commented:
"We take blogging and social media very seriously as a company, not for its own sake but as we strongly believe that the communications world is changing rapidly and it's hugely important to me that we are at the fore of that change. Working with a number of leading web 2.0 clients certainly helps but the point is that many of the tools we use are becoming increasingly mainstream and, I believe, in a few years time, practices such as micro-blogging will be prevalent across a great many more corporate sites."

The team has a range of blog sites, both on the Punch corporate site and personally, across multiple blogging platforms, including Wordpress, Blogger and Typepad.

Pete Goold added:
"Another key differentiator for us is the number of non-PR Companies that are looking to partner with us, either because they don't have a PR function or because they are looking to join up their PR and web functions, with our online PR service. This works particularly well when we also have a requirement - such as the development of a website or a graphic design requirement for example - that the partner can in turn fulfil. Having developed some highly beneficial two way partnerships with businesses in the past, we are currently exploring numerous relationships".

With five new clients won in the last six weeks, Punch is building on the success of current campaigns, having achieved coverage for clients across the national media in the last few weeks, from The Sunday Mirror, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, The Financial Times and The Guardian to coverage in Empire, BBC Homes, Saga magazine, along with numerous leading blogs and websites.

Affordable and effective computer software teaches children with learning disabilities to become independent learners; Excellent source of visuals of children using the DT Trainer

Columbia, SC (PRWEB) April 27, 2007

As April marks Autism Awareness Month, Columbia-based software company, Accelerations Educational Software (AES), continues to expand its first program for individuals with autism, the Discrete Trial Trainer (DT Trainer), and is getting ready to release a second product.

The DT Trainer has grown to more than 150 content programs and teaches children a range of subjects from animals, shapes, numbers, and letters to more complex topics such as time, money and word problems. It employs Applied Behavioral Analysis methods from behavioral psychology to enable students to learn independently even if they normally require one-on-one instruction. Along with these updates, AES is also preparing for the release of its second product, the Activity Trainer. Both products not only help teach individuals with autism but help teach other individuals with learning disabilities.

Several years ago, Karl Smith's son with autism couldn't read. Smith, a software engineer, began tinkering with a computer program he'd initially designed to supplement his son's therapy. "We had spent four years trying to get him to read words like 'cat' and 'dog,'" he recalls. "After just a few weeks he could read words like 'elephant.' We filled in the right holes and his reading took off." Now his teachers say that he's the best speller in his class.

In 2000, after positive initial input from schools and special education professionals, Smith left his job to begin working full-time on his educational software. Initially using his life savings to fund the project, Smith has now successfully created one of the most unique and robust teaching aids available for children with autism and other learning disabilities.

Since its release, the DT Trainer is now used in over 550 school districts, over 70 private schools and centers of excellence, as well as in thousands of homes nationwide. Now housed in the University of South Carolina's Technology Incubator, Smith's company has increased its staff to handle developing the wide range of content needed to teach individuals with moderate to severe learning disabilities.

Keeli Bowen, a special education teacher in suburban Atlanta, uses the DT Trainer in her classroom. "I absolutely love the DT Trainer! We use it everyday in our classroom. It is fun, educational and it allows for my students to be independent while learning. I recommend this fantastic program to all teachers." Not only has the DT Trainer been found effective in teaching children with autism, it's just as powerful a teaching aid for other children with learning disabilities.

Even as the size of program continues to grow, Smith has maintained the same low price. "Our mission is to create effective and affordable software," Smith says. "We're impacting the lives of as many students as possible by charging just a tenth of the usual cost for the size and robustness." AES charges $99 for home versions and $249 for classroom versions.

Plans are also underway for the release of the Activity Trainer, which will use video modeling and schedules to educate children with autism and other learning disabilities. Video modeling is a well-researched and powerful educational method that teaches various skills, such as writing, self care, and social interactions. The Activity Trainer's expected release date is late Spring 2007.

Current 50-State Cost of Living Comparison Now Available

Current 50-State Cost of Living Comparison Now Available

A nationally recognized policy analysis company has designed a free tool for comparing current cost of living differences in all 50 states. The tool, created by Denver-based Augenblick, Palaich and Associates, Inc. (APA) provides users with an easy-to-use index that can also help compare the purchasing power of salaries across states.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 24, 2006

A nationally recognized policy analysis company has designed a free tool for comparing current cost of living differences in all 50 states. The tool, created by Denver-based Augenblick, Palaich and Associates, Inc. (APA) provides users with an easy-to-use index that can also help compare the purchasing power of salaries across states.

According to APA Vice President Dr. Douglas Rose, such a comparison can help state governments, school districts, employees, and private companies get a better idea of how their salaries truly stack up. "This tool recognizes that equal salaries do not often mean an equal standard of living," Rose said. "If an employee such as a teacher is paid near the national average salary for their experience level but lives in a state with a higher cost of living, that employee might have less overall purchasing power than many of his or her peers across the country," he added.

The APA analysis -- which is composed of two parts, housing and non-housing -- draws from a variety of reliable data sources. These include the 2006 U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's annual surveys of rental costs in all U. S. Counties, the U. S. Census Bureau's 2005 American Housing Survey, a 2005 study of metropolitan area cost of living by the Council for Community and Economic Research, and wage data from the National Center for Education Statistics.

Among other findings, the analysis revealed that non-housing costs vary much less than housing costs. In fact, the highest non-housing cost state (New York) is only 39% above the lowest cost state (Arkansas). The highest housing cost state (California) however, is 124% above the lowest cost state (West Virginia) -- and is 245% above if home ownership is used instead of rent. Moulton College Cultivates Student Technology Education with Extricom WLAN

Moulton College Cultivates Student Technology Education with Extricom WLAN

System Will Allow for Wireless Mobility in Classrooms and the Field

London, United Kingdom (PRWEB) June 8, 2010

Moulton College, a training institution for the Natural, Built and Recreational Environment industries in Moulton, Northamptonshire, UK, has completed deployment of a wireless LAN (WLAN) system (http://www. extricom. com/content/technology) from Extricom. The WLAN was implemented by T. James Telecoms, a Technology partner specializing in wireless services, to support mobile learning by students and staff at Moulton’s Holcot Centre, as well as portions of the College’s main site.

As an overlay to its traditional vocational teaching, Moulton College is integrating sophisticated technology into its everyday lesson plans. The College has numerous buildings, 5,000 students, and a curriculum that incorporates classes in the field as well as the lecture hall, so implementing a campus-wide wireless network was a priority. A funding award from the Mobile Learning Network (MoLeNET) enabled Moulton to invest in mobile learning technologies, including a enterprise-class WLAN and a large number of mini-computers.

“Basically, we need to make sure our students are more prepared for the workforce, and having a grounding in IT is essential,” stated Giles Batchelor, Network Development & Services Manager at Moulton College. “Our staff use network resources in any number of ways, whether online exercises, flash quizzes, or video streaming for a stone masonry workshop or animal welfare class, just to name a few examples.”

“To support this, we needed a WLAN that would just work reliably without to much intervention on our part but would be flexible enough for a wide range of operating scenarios. We reviewed a number of vendors and it was the Extricom system (http://www. extricom. com/content/solutions/industries/primary-secondary-education) that ‘ticked all the boxes’ for us. The implementation has brought significant benefits, including a MoLeShare Award for innovation in the use of mobile learning technology.”

Extricom’s Channel Blanket™ architecture (http://www. extricom. com/content/technology/architecture) has become a byword in the wireless networking community for its simplicity, robustness, and multi-use nature, making it a natural choice for educational institutions. Densely deployed access points provide reliable, resilient network access and high performance for every user. The Extricom switch coordinates the APs and eliminates the co-channel interference that reduces the performance of conventional WLAN systems. The system supports multiple blankets from the same physical infrastructure, essentially separate networks that can be dedicated to specific application types or end-user populations.

For Peter Oxtoby, managing director for T. James Telecoms, Extricom’s mobility characteristics were what made it a compelling solution for Moulton College: “Continuous mobility from AP to AP is critical, especially in terms of real-time teaching in the field where handheld devices are replacing flapping bits of paper, for a more enriched learning experience. The WLAN had to support this right out of the box and it did. There are a lot of vendors that tout their solution’s ability to provide seamless mobility, but none performs up to the level of Extricom in our opinion.”

“Extricom WLAN is engineered to overcome the environmental challenges that can make deploying enterprise WLAN an exercise in frustration,” said Edu Meytal, Extricom's executive VP of global sales. “These days, it’s not enough just to deploy wireless, you have to deploy wireless that can be guaranteed to perform well under load and under stress. Customers like Moulton College continually demonstrate how the Extricom system lives up to its billing in real-world conditions, no matter what it’s asked to do.”

Brain Fitness Technique is Making Big Waves: Brain Wave Vibration Rights Sold for Seven Languages

Brain Fitness Technique is Making Big Waves: Brain Wave Vibration Rights Sold for Seven Languages

Manage your stress, rediscover physical vitality, and stimulate your natural healing ability with Brain Wave Vibration, a powerful mind-body healing and brain fitness technique that is making waves across seven countries. Learn about this moving meditation in Brain Wave Vibration: Getting Back into the Rhythm of a Healthier, Happier Life by Ilchi Lee. Winner of a 2010 Silver Nautilus Book Award and soon to be published in seven languages.

Sedona, AZ (PRWEB) May 4, 2010

Everybody is catching the wave. From Asia to the Americas, and all across Europe, people are shaking it up to the powerful rhythm inside themselves. They're tapping into a new mind-body training method that is surging across the continents, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to uncover the vast abilities that lie within their brain. Why? Because they say, it works.

They're getting into the rhythm with brain wave vibration (http://www. brainwavevibration. com/). As people move to the beat and allow their whole bodies to vibrate, they feel a release of tension and a sense of equilibrium coming back to their body and mind. Their brain clears, their energy is stimulated, and suddenly they're in a much better mood.

The new brain fitness technique is described in the book, Brain Wave Vibration: Getting Back to the Rhythm of a Healthy, Happy Life (http://www. bestlifemedia. com/body-mind-spirit-books/brain-wave-vibration-revised-and-expanded-edition), written by Ilchi Lee and published by BEST Life Media. It recently won a 2010 Silver Nautilus Book Award, which recognizes books that promote spiritual growth, conscious living, and positive social change, while inspiring readers to new possibilities for a better world.

At its core, the method uses basic vibration exercises to get your qi/ki energy moving and calm your brain wave activity. It involves three basic elements: 1) deliberately making vibrations in your body, 2) allowing your body to ride the rhythm, and 3) following the flow of energy.

"It may seem like magical thinking to believe that something so simple could produce such good results. But really, the healing is happening within you," writes Ilchi Lee (http://www. bestlifemedia. com/body-mind-spirit-articles#AboutIlchiLee). "Your brain already instinctively knows what your body needs for health and happiness. This method only helps you to activate it."

People who practice the technique say that it helps them manage stress (http://www. bestlifemedia. com/body-mind-spirit-articles#ManageStress) more effectively, regain their physical vitality, master their emotions, and unleash their body's own innate healing ability. "It has helped me manage my chronic pain, increase my energy level, and improve my attitude about life in general," said Leslie, a practitioner in Lakewood Colorado.

"When I practice, I feel closer to my real self. It gives me a freedom that connects my body and soul," said Peter from Epsom, England. "My right brain becomes harmonized with my left brain in a state of complete calm, peace, and emptiness," he said. Brain wave vibration and ki energy training (http://www. bestlifemedia. com/body-mind-spirit-articles#DahnYoga) are taught in more than 1,000 Dahn Yoga and Body+Brain centers in 10 countries.

Publishers in seven countries have either purchased the rights to or already published foreign language versions of Brain Wave Vibration: Korea, Japan, France, Germany, Taiwan, Russia and China. The Korean edition has sold more than 300,000 copies. The first English edition, published in 2008, sold more than 80,000 copies and won a 2009 Gold Medal Living Now Book Award and a 2009 Arizona Glyph Award. The new, expanded edition includes more success stories and a deeper explanation of the science behind the method designed to change your brain (http://www. bestlifemedia. com/body-mind-spirit-articles#ChangeHabits).

"The book is a unique integration of the holistic tradition of the East and Western scientific insight," said Dr. Elkhonon Goldberg, clinical professor of neurology at the New York University School of Medicine and author of The New Executive Brain. "Written in an engaging and lively style, it conveys optimism and humanism, as well as some very practical approaches to attaining mental health and balance," he noted in his review.

In a time of economic uncertainty, SkinCareRx. com is standing strong as the twelfth fastest-growing company in Utah. The online skin care retailer was recognized last month as one of Utah's elite by the MountainWest Capital Network.

SkinCareRx (http://skincarerx. com) earned its number 12 spot on Utah's 100 Fastest-Growing Companies List because of its 1,708% revenue growth from 2003 through 2007. It's growth that would not have been possible without the dedication of SkinCareRx's employees, says company CEO Chris Taylor.

Soccer Mom’s Dream of a Swimming Pool Gets Canned

Soccer Mom’s Dream of a Swimming Pool Gets Canned

Watersall, Inc. announces the launch of two new product lines of fine-mist aerosol spray purified water. “Splash Cool,” tagged “Swimming Pool In A Can,” and “Watersall, Purified Water Atomizer” made their debut at the Spa and Resort show in New York.

ALBANY, GA (PRWEB) December 3, 2005

When the husband of a south Georgia soccer mom dismissed her dream to build a backyard swimming pool by telling her that she should “can” her idea, that’s exactly what she did.

Drew Aultman, founder and president of Watersall, Inc., developed a purified water skin care product that cools, refreshes and hydrates the skin. Naming the product “Splash Cool” and dubbing it “Swimming Pool in a Can - Sorry, pool boy not included,” Aultman was off and running, or swimming rather. Drawing from her education and background in advertising and marketing, Aultman created a fun and unique product that within months spread to stores from coast to coast. “We introduced this product in New York this year,” Aultman said. “Already, we have retailers in over 20 states and close to 100 stores. We are very optimistic about the future.”

Recently, her company partnered with the specialty department store Parisian to launch Splash Cool. “I am thrilled,” Aultman exclaimed. “Parisian, which is owned by Saks Incorporated, is a first rate department store chain.” According to Parisian buyer Jamie Gleason, “Splash Cool is an exciting addition to our cosmetics assortment. It fills a need that many women might not have even realized they had. It is a product that is unique to Parisian and sets us apart from our competition.”

Originally intended to be used for cooling and hydrating hot, thirsty skin at the pool or beach, this simple product has a myriad of additional practical uses. It provides an ultra-fine mist of purified water to gently wash away perspiration and pollutants and restore a neutral pH to skin. It can be used in the office or after exercise. As a way to beat the inevitable dehydration when flying, it makes a great traveling companion. Especially convenient for moms because the water is purified and sterilized, Splash Cool can be used on babies and toddlers for quick clean-ups. The list of uses goes on and on … limited only by the imagination.

Watersall has gone to extraordinary lengths to maintain the purity of its products. “I have sensitive skin, so developing a product that was pure and free of preservatives was especially important to me,” says Aultman. “Water is moisture. The quality of our water exceeds purity standards set forth by the FDA for pharmaceutical-grade water used in the medical industry.” The water is then sterilized to ensure quality and prevent the need for irritating additives and drying preservatives. Often products contain fragrances and alcohol which, of course, aggravate aging dehydrated skin. These products hydrate the skin, which is so vital for maintaining a youthful appearance.

Although Watersall is the only manufacturer in the U. S. of this simple but useful product, European women have used similar products for decades. While traveling recently, Aultman recalls an encounter with a woman from Argentina. “She told me in a charming accent that until seeing my product, she had not been able to find a purified water product in an aerosol can here in the States.” “She was obviously perplexed that this was not a cosmetic staple for American women as it is in other parts of the world.” “We hope to change that,” Aultman said.

Aultman knows her mission in life is to help abused and underprivileged children. For many years she has been a member of a local organization developed to help prevent child abuse and provide temporary shelters for neglected and abused children. When she decided to begin work on the product, she realized that this may be the way to fulfill her goals of doing something major to aid neglected and abused children. Aultman decided to start a foundation funded by profits from Watersall to build homes for abused children and help educate the public. At her mother-in-law’s suggestion, Drew formed a name for the foundation by using a combination of her own children’s names. The Andrew H. Jordan Foundation for Children was born with the hope of Watersall’s success to sponsor and support it.

Drew Aultman is available for comment and/or interview. For a complete listing of store locations or for additional information, please visit www. watersall. com.

Pamper the Pooch, Other Pets, without the Pudge this Holiday Season

Pamper the Pooch, Other Pets, without the Pudge this Holiday Season

Professional pet sitters offer tips to help battle holiday weight gain

King, NC (Vocus) November 29, 2010

Pet Sitters International (PSI), the world’s largest educational association for professional pet sitters, recently surveyed its member businesses to determine the most popular types of pet pampering taking place during the holidays.

The majority of the 337 respondents indicated that their clients’ pet pampering takes place primarily in the form of extra treats and toys. But the feedback doesn’t stop there. Professional pet-care givers are quick to note that over-treating and over-feeding is typical among many pet owners.

An overwhelming 93 percent of respondents said they provide pet-sitting services for pets that they classify as overweight.

The findings are in line with 2010 information from the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, which reports that 44 percent of dogs and 57 percent of cats in the U. S. are obese.

While most pet owners pamper their pets with good intentions, some of these behaviors can have long-term negative effects.

PSI member Cheryl Wilson, owner of T. L.K. Professional Pet Care Service in Watertown, MA, finds that over-feeding is one of the most common problems she encounters.

“I try to offer my clients advice on more appropriate amounts to feed their pets and remind them of the health risks that come with pet obesity,” Wilson said.

Other PSI members noted that pet owners request that their pets be given too many fatty treats. Cari Brown, owner of The Cat’s Meow Pet Sitting Service in Maryland Heights, MO, was asked to do just that—until she intervened.

“One of my clients used to give unhealthy snacks to their cats until I educated them on proper nutrition for cats,” Brown said. “Now the cats get grain - and corn-free snacks that are full of protein.”

PSI member Lynn Hall, owner of All Creatures Great and Small in New Point, VA, faced a similar predicament.

“I cared for a dog that was morbidly obese and yet my client continued to request that I feed it a high calorie, rich meal,” Hall said. “I eventually lost the client because I expressed my concerns. The dog is now on medication and a low-calorie diet. As much as I miss that pup, I feel that I did the right thing to help save its life.”

According to Patti Moran, PSI president, overindulging during the holidays and beyond is no longer solely a human issue, but one for canines and felines as well. She said that experienced and qualified pet care givers are in a good position to take note and intervene.

“Professional pet sitters spend a lot of time with pets and pet owners, likely more than any other pet-care professional,” Moran said. “Their familiarity with their clients’ pets and families make them well-suited to offer pet-care advice on good nutrition and similar topics. As PSI’s survey indicates, professional pet sitters truly care about the welfare of the pets in their care.”

The majority of professional pet sitters can quickly identify health issues and household hazards. Some of the most frequent recommendations professional pet sitters give their clients, especially around holidays, include:
Curb the urge to give extra "treats" to your pets. Instead, treat them with extra playtime and belly rubs.

Avoid giving overweight pets too much food and the wrong types of foods. Just because you’re eating it doesn’t mean your pet should.

Educate yourself about holiday hazards such as toxins in decorations and plants.

If you are going to be away for long periods of time for shopping and traveling, make arrangements to keep your pet on its regular schedule as much as possible.

Plan for your pet’s care well in advance. Schedules get tight and last minute requests can leave pet owners without adequate in-home pet care.

Highlights from the second quarter include new customer acquisitions, securing the #1 position in the 22nd annual PROFIT 100 ranking (http://www. varicent. com/press-releases2010.asp#a105) of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies by PROFIT Magazine, and the successful hosting of INSIGHT10, Varicent’s annual user conference.

“We are thrilled with all of the exciting activity that has taken place during this quarter,” said Dan Shimmerman, President and CEO, Varicent. “We are especially proud that this Q2 was our best to date – more than 50% stronger than any Q2 prior. The company is on track to hit our year end growth targets of 35% plus.”

Throughout Q2, Varicent's solution was adopted by ten new customers across industries including Retail, Technology, Insurance and Financial Services. Varicent’s growth is unparalleled in the industry and this exemplary performance affirms that its sales performance management and incentive compensation solution succeeds in driving down the cost and time of sales administration, improves visibility into sales behavior, and enhances the overall effectiveness of sales efforts.

In May, Varicent hosted INSIGHT10, its annual user conference focused on Incentive Compensation and Sales Performance Management. INSIGHT10 brought together Varicent customers, industry experts, Varicent partners and staff for three days of training, education and information exchange. Participants heard the latest in best practices and industry trends; they were able to network with other Varicent users and learn from their successes and attendees enjoyed Hands on Labs with the ability to explore Varicent in more detail. “We were delighted with the impact of this conference,” said Brian Hartlen, Vice President Marketing, Varicent. “In addition to providing our users and partners with a meaningful experience, we at Varicent benefited from the opportunity to be face-to-face with our stakeholders and to learn about their environments, their needs and how they have leveraged Varicent to forecast and grow.”

Q2 also saw the latest release of the company’s flagship product, Varicent 7 (http://www. varicent. com/varicent7/index. asp), which empowers organizations to manage increasingly complex compensation processes and significantly reduces implementation time and effort. This new incarnation provides Varicent customers with effective tools to deal with market volatility and changes within the context of less time and fewer resources.

One of the most impressive achievements of Q2 was Varicent’s #1 ranking in PROFIT Magazine’s listing of Canada’s fastest growing companies. The standing was based on the company’s sales performance for five-year revenue growth. “We are extremely proud of our performance, and PROFIT Magazine’s recognition of our accomplishments,” said Dan Shimmerman, President and CEO, Varicent. “Varicent’s success is the result of our entire team’s hard work and commitment, as well as our shared dedication to delivering value to our global customers (http://www. varicent. com/customers. asp).”

Those second-stage companies employed more than two million workers. Looking at the contributions of these companies, only 6 percent of Florida's resident establishments were in the second-stage category, however, they generated more than 31 percent of net new jobs in the state.

The Paper Tiger Software and Calahan Solutions Announce Two Great Ways for Professional Organizers and Virtual Assistants to Market their Business

The Paper Tiger Software and Calahan Solutions Announce Two Great Ways for Professional Organizers and Virtual Assistants to Market their Business.

The Paper Tiger software is teaming up with Calahan Solutions, Inc. and other professional organizers and virtual assistants to make the most of Get Organized Month January 2010!

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 18, 2009

The Paper Tiger Document Management and Filing System Software (http://www. thepapertiger. com) has teamed up with Calahan Solutions, a personal productivity and organization consulting company (http://www. calahansolutions. com), to help professional organizers and virtual assistants greatly increase their marketing presence in January 2010 to reach new clients during Get Organized Month.

The fact is that many professional organizers and virtual assistants (http://www. thepapertiger. com/experts) will not be as busy in January 2010 during Get Organized Month (http://www. napo. net/news/go_month. aspx) as they want to be. The tough economy is not to blame, however. The main reason many professional organizers and virtual assistants will not be serving as many clients as they can, is due to lack of marketing. Many companies, government agencies, etc. do not know what services are available to help them with their organizing and VA tasks.

There are two opportunities for professional organizers or virtual assistants to gain greater exposure for their business.

Opportunity #1 – Participate as a Gift Sponsor in the “Great Organizing Give Away”

Calahan Solutions, Inc. is coordinating the first-ever industry give away in honor of Get Organized Month 2010. Professional organizers and virtual assistants are sponsoring gifts in the following categories:
Downloadable items such as tip sheets, eBooks, eReports, eWorkbooks, or audio or video downloads. Subscriptions to newsletters and/or blogs. Donations of time for either telephone or in-person consultation to prospective clients.

All organizing gifts will be publicized on the Internet using all the resources and expertise of both The Paper Tiger Document Management and Filing System software and Calahan Solutions, Inc. Everything is designed to increase Internet traffic and opportunities for the participating professional organizers and virtual assistants. Further details on sponsorship are available on the “Great Organizing Give Away” website (http://www. asktheexpertorganizers. com/congratulations-on-deciding-to-participate. html).

Opportunity #2 – Expand Your Business with The Paper Tiger Software

The Monticello Corporation, makers of The Paper Tiger Document Management and Filing System software, invites all professional organizers and virtual assistants to become an affiliate and Paper Tiger Expert. There are tremendous benefits to becoming a Paper Tiger Expert and the cost is FREE. Further details are available on the become a Paper Tiger Expert (http://www. thepapertiger. com/affiliates. php) page of The Paper Tiger website.

“Professional Organizers and Virtual Assistants are very good at delivering excellent results for their clients. However, many of these professionals don’t have all the marketing expertise, tools and time needed to reach their prospect base as often as they would like. They need assistance finding new business and that is where we can really help!”, says Stephanie Calahan, owner of Calahan Solutions, Inc. (http://www. calahansolutions. com) and a Paper Tiger Expert located in Bloomington, IL.

“Stephanie Calahan has done a fantastic job of using the power of the Internet to reach potential organizing and virtual assistant prospects. She really understands how to use the web to ‘be in front of people – 24/7/365’. The quality of her educational material is excellent and she is a great teacher. Any professional organizer or virtual assistant can learn how to better market their business by working with Stephanie”, says James D. Grady, President & CEO of The Monticello Corporation, the makers of The Paper Tiger Document Management and Filing System Software.

Monticello got its name from the legendary home of Thomas Jefferson, U. S. president from 1801-1809. Mayors Nationwide Help Set New World Record By Reading The Children's Classic The Snowy Day

Mayors Nationwide Help Set New World Record By Reading The Children's Classic The Snowy Day

Jumpstart's Read for the Record focuses attention on the importance of early literacy

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 7, 2010

Today, mayors across the U. S. took part in Jumpstart's Read for the Record™, a nationwide campaign to set a new world record for the largest shared reading experience on a single day. Starting this morning at the TODAY Show in New York City, Mayor Michael Bloomberg kicked off the fifth annual day of reading. Throughout the day the nation's mayors joined children in schools, community centers, libraries, and colleges, and--for the first time ever--the campaign book is available online at http://www. wegivebooks. org. Read for the Record brings together adults and children to show support for young children and to showcase the role reading plays in a young child's life.

Presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, Jumpstart's Read for the Record encourages record-breakers to spread the word that reading with a child before he or she enters kindergarten can improve his or her chances of graduating from high school by as much as 30%. Today dozens of mayors and community leaders joined 2.5 million children that took part by reading The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. In the process, Jumpstart and the Pearson Foundation drew attention to the growing crisis for disadvantaged young children whose literacy experience is limited and to Jumpstart's role in addressing this issue.

"We are so pleased by the number of mayors, city council members and county commission leaders who got involved with Read for the Record this year, both those who participated for the first time and those who celebrated their fifth anniversary with the campaign" said Pearson Foundation President Mark Nieker. "We believe that involving local dignitaries and community members is critical to bringing everyone together to help raise awareness about the importance of early literacy."

The Pearson Foundation thanks the dozens of mayors and local community leaders who participated today in reading events large and small with children in their cities.

This year for the first time ever, We Give Books is making it possible for everyone to read the official 2010 Read for the Record Campaign book, The Snowy Day, for free, online at http://www. wegivebooks. org. Through We Give Books, the Pearson Foundation has made available an ever-growing library of digital children's books that is free all year long. In fact, every time you read a book online with a child, the Pearson Foundation donates a book to a child in need.
