Introducing: SUCCESS...IN ENTERING THE WORKPLACE - an employability education series that is DIFFERENT

Introducing: SUCCESS...IN ENTERING THE WORKPLACE - an employability education series that is DIFFERENT

(PRWEB) November 22, 1999

This five-module series was created by teachers. It targets students

From Grades Nine to Adult Education who run the gamut of skills, abilities,

Attitudes, socio-economic status, experience and behaviours.

What is DIFFERENT? Three things:

SEW zeroes in on the “invisible customs and protocol of the

Workplace: the things that aren’t on a job description or in a company handbook. People lose jobs because they don’t have a clue about the “invisible”

Things like being organized, keeping their personal lives private, staying that

Extra few minutes to finish up, recognizing when to keep their mouths shut,

Staying clear of “gripe groups”, knowing when their “rights” are out

Of line. The series is short on theory and heavy on the practical items

That make people hirable or fire-able.

SEW uses real-life scenarios of occupations that require little or no

Post-secondary education. Many of our students donÂ’t become lawyers,

Accountants and engineers. They want to drive truck, work at the

Hardware store, fall trees, cashier, operate a skidder or wait tables. Many

Of the existing resources donÂ’t address these jobs, and if they do, they are

Generally “special education” resources. Now, that’s a subtle

Message!

SEW binders contain hundreds of reproducible activities that use plain

Language and are to-the-point. In addition, there are hundreds more

Teaching suggestions that allow you to tailor programs to meet a wide

Range of needs. Parent course information packages are ready to go.

The five modules are Job Preparation, The Planning Project, The

Proactivity Project, Job Maintenance and Personal Safety Management.

The first three are available now; the last two will be out in February,

2000.

I encourage you to check out this series on our website. You will

Find the material useful for all sorts of kids because itÂ’s based on the

“assume nothing” approach: there’s far more to keeping a job than resumes,

Application forms and interviews.

3000km walk across India and Nepal in aid of health post in the Himalayas

3000km walk across India and Nepal in aid of health post in the Himalayas.

A London based British walker is going to trek 3000km across India and Nepal to help raise vital equipment for a newly built healthpost in the remote himalayas. Help Nepal Network helped build the healthpost 6 months ago and is in desparate need for funds to get it up and running. Stephen 'stepped' in at just the right time.

(PRWEB) July 3, 2004

Council officer Stephen Watkins is undertaking a 3000km trek across India and Nepal to help raise money for Help Nepal Network, a UK Reg Charity in July 2004.

The money will be used to buy medical supplies for a health outpost the charity has helped build in Mugu, a remote area in north-west Nepal.

Stephen, who expects to walk up to 20 miles a day, starts his journey in Ladakh, north India, before traveling south through the Himalayan foothills to the Nepalese border.

He will then cross Nepal and re-enter India in Bengal where he will head up for Darjeeling for a well-deserved cup of tea and his final destination of Gangtok in Sikkim.

Stephen, 39, who works as a press officer, said: “I’ve always loved walking and this gives me the chance to satisfy the not-so-young Indiana Jones in me. I’m expecting it to be a hard slog but have visited India and Nepal on a number of previous occasions and look forward to seeing a different side to these countries.”

”I won’t pretend that I’m not nervous about the trip but the fact that I’m helping raise money for charity will be an extra incentive when my legs start to wobble on those steep hills.”

Stephen, who says he prefers snow to sunshine, expects the walk to take up to five months and has enlisted the help the charity to provide him with some contacts along the way.

He will be hoping for more luck than his previous visit several years ago when he was detained by the Indian Army on suspicion of being first an escaped prisoner then a spy while trekking in Ladakh.

Stephen said: “Some villagers reported a stranger wandering around and the army turned up that night and carted me off to their base for questioning.”

The health post, the charity has helped build is located in the heart of the Himalayas, on the banks of Rara Lake. This undiscovered beauty spot is not on the usual trekking routes due to its inaccessibility. This isolation adds to the lack of even basic healthcare facilities in the region.

Boca Beth Makes Green the Color of Happier Holidays and Brighter Futures

Boca Beth Makes Green the Color of Happier Holidays and Brighter Futures

Award-winning bilingual education program goes green with sustainable packaging to make futures brighter for kids and the environment.

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 26, 2008

Boca Beth, LLC, a multiple award-winning bilingual language company specializing in Spanish/English language learning for ages birth-ten, announces the use of environmentally friendly product packaging this month to correspond with preparations for holiday shopping later this year.

With focus on sustainability and doing good for the earth, Boca Beth founder Beth Butler felt the importance of helping the environment for the futures of the children she reaches daily with her language program. "I cannot, with good conscience, continue to produce CDs that feature plastic cases which will fill up the landfills of the children I reach daily with my Boca Beth music and movement fun." Butler commented.

With preparations for the 2008 holiday shopping season underway, Boca Beth launched earth-friendly packaging to offer consumers a green option in the children's bilingual education genre. As society shifts to an eco-friendly perspective, and the need for early bilingual education continues to grow, Boca Beth offers a socially responsible choice for consumers looking to purchase bilingual education materials as gifts.

Boca Beth's green packaging includes CD jackets made from 100% recycled papers with soy-based printing, and is the start of an effort to ensure that every product Boca Beth offers will soon be eco-friendly. "As a business owner, I can make a conscious effort to reduce landfill waste by offering only 100% recyclable materials," Bulter stated. "Bilingual education has never been more fun or eco-friendly!"

An iParenting Media Award winner, the Boca Beth program brings Spanish and English together for both traditional Spanish speaking children who need improvement with English, and non-Spanish speaking children to facilitate Spanish language learning. With gentle instruction and vibrant music, movements and creativity, the Boca Beth teaching method helps wire a child's brain for early-and lifelong-language learning. As more parents turn to educational materials for gifts in lieu of commercialized toys and games, Boca Beth has been a leading choice in the bilingual education category with a large selection of educational puppets, musical shakers, coloring books, CDs and DVDs to give children a wide range of stimulating learning fun.

Butler encourages parents to visit the Boca Beth website at http://www. bocabeth. com (http://www. bocabeth. com) for more information about the Boca Beth program, and to get a head start on holiday shopping with fun educational materials for a lifetime of language enrichment.

Ms. Butler is a nationally acclaimed speaker on the topic of bringing Spanish and English together for young children in the home and in the classroom. To schedule an interview or to book her for your next Early Childhood Conference, corporate family event, PTA / school function, retailer's convention or children's group, call their bilingual office in Tampa, FL 813.855.5393 or directly to Ms. Butler's cell phone 813.244.1432 (se habla Español). Perform Pain Reliever Programs Benefits Pink-Link Breast Cancer Support Network

Perform Pain Reliever Programs Benefits Pink-Link Breast Cancer Support Network

Hygenic / Performance Health, makers of Perform® and Biofreeze® Pain Relievers, has partnered with Pink-Link Breast Cancer Support Network, an online support resource for women affected by breast cancer.

Akron, OH (Vocus/PRWEB) December 29, 2010

Hygenic / Performance Health, makers of Perform® and Biofreeze® Pain Relievers, has partnered with Pink-Link Breast Cancer Support Network, an online support resource for women affected by breast cancer. Pink-Link is a nonprofit organization and all breast cancer support services are free. Pink-Link's key service, an online database of breast cancer survivors, creates an intimate and personal link between breast cancer survivors. This "mentor-survivor" relationship provides the essential on-going support needed to endure treatment of breast cancer.

Hygenic / Performance Health has provided product donations and web exposure for Pink-Link during the past 18 months. In November, the Company launched a Perform Pain Reliever Instant Redeemable Coupon (IRC) program. Coupon redemption results in a $1.00 savings for the consumer and a $1.00 donation for Pink-Link. To further support this donation-driving program, an investment was made in developing and distributing in-store display units that should generate additional awareness of the campaign.

“While there are many worthwhile causes to choose from, we opted to partner with an organization where our contribution could make an immediate difference,” stated Chas Tabone, Associate Trade Marketing Manager at Hygenic / Performance Health. “We also looked for an organization with a mission of helping individuals work through their pain, either physically or emotionally. Through grassroots efforts, Pink-Link has impacted thousands of lives by matching women diagnosed with cancer with women who have experienced the same diagnosis. These women offer each other real life experiences and perspectives that cannot be found at a clinic or doctor’s office. We’ve built our business by providing products that help individuals manage pain so that they can get back to living a full and active life. Their cause is a good fit with our purpose, and we hope this program provides considerable exposure for Pink-Link in addition to the dollars we raise.”

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of Hygenic / Performance Health, and truly appreciate their efforts in spreading the word about what we do and how we can help those dealing with breast cancer,” commented Vicki Tashman, founder of Pink-Link. “Although we provide women emotional and educational support, we can’t address their physical pain. Perform does just that.”

Pink-Link is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to empower women in obtaining a healthy survivorship of breast cancer. Founded in 2005 by Vicki Tashman, Pink-Link provides an on-line support service for women consisting of an innovative searchable database where women with breast cancer can connect with other women who have a similar diagnosis. By harnessing the power of the Internet and using a custom-built program which meets the privacy needs of their members, Pink-Link creates an intimate and personal link between patients, survivors, friends and family.

Hygenic / Performance Health built its business by developing products that help people manage their pain, restore their strength, and improve their overall health. Maker of market-leading Perform®, Thera-Band®, and Biofreeze® products, Hygenic / Performance Health provides a broad portfolio of products for the therapy, rehabilitation, massage, wellness and consumer retail markets.

UK Aerospace Company Boosts Manufacturing Performance with K3's MFW Software

UK Aerospace Company Boosts Manufacturing Performance with K3's MFW Software

A sustained investment programme in computerised manufacturing management systems has resulted in British-owned aerospace company APPH Limited reducing manufacturing lead times by half, doubling its number of stock turns and cutting headcount and inventory.

(PRWEB) April 24, 2003

/PR Web/ APPH has so far implemented K3 Business Technology's MFW Enterprise Resource Planning software in four of its eight sites in Britain and the US. The software handles the company's manufacturing requirements for both make-to-order for original equipment and make-to-stock for aircraft spares.

The company's services cover initial concept, design, qualification, manufacture and lifetime programme support. Its products include landing gear systems, flight controls and hydraulic system assemblies for both civil and military aircraft, and filtration equipment. Almost every engine ever built by Rolls-Royce carries APPH filters. The company's capabilities also include high precision machining and landing gear, wheel and brake repair and overhaul.

Cellular manufacturing techniques are used for the assembly and testing of all hydraulic equipment. These include a clean-room environment for safety-critical assemblies and those that demand ultra-high precision. Typical batch sizes range from one to 25. The company has a turnover of circa $100 million and employs 480 staff.

APPH numbers the top aerospace companies in the world amongst its clients, and current programmes include flight control and landing gear systems for BAE Systems Hawk trainer, Alenia C27J military transporter, SAAB Gripen military fighter, and hydraulic systems for the Raytheon Hawker 800 business jet.

The company has received a number of awards for its continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives, including BAE Systems award for Supply Chain Excellence, and Investors in People.

In 1989 APPH identified a need for a flexible computer system for its Bolton site. A key requirement was for a package solution rather than bespoke software; it also had to be cost effective, user-friendly and be operated without the use of computer specialists.

"We chose MFW," says APPH Managing Director David Haslam, "because it met all our selection criteria. From our decision to buy until the final system implementation took six months, although we have almost halved this time with subsequent implementations at our other sites. Timescales have to be very aggressive otherwise you tend to forget the original objectives, key people leave the company and, generally, the impetus is lost.

"In 1994, we expanded the system to our headquarters site with similar success. As we were eager to embrace the growing benefits of Windows technology we were one of the first companies to adopt the MFW system in 1998. We chose the Bolton site to lead this programme, which took us four months to implement. We invested heavily in education and training, as we consider it essential that all employees take ownership of the system. I also think active participation in the user group is essential for generating feedback and providing a discussion forum for system upgrades.

"At the Runcorn site we have several Linvar Paternoster automated storage machines for stock picking, which have been interfaced to MFW. This has greatly increased the efficiency in part picking and stock management.

"This year we have also implemented MFW at TRAK, our high precision match grinding facility. The system's production control module is particularly relevant for the company's multiple machining operations. Our Airight Inc. subsidiary in the US is also implementing MFW by the end of 2002."

K3 Business Technology's MFW is a 32 bit system comprising over 30 modules that grow together to provide a fully integrated ERP system on Windows and Windows NT platforms. APPH sites typically use MFW modules such as sales and purchase order processing, inventory, bills of materials, MRP and financials. The system caters for a wide variety of manufacturing environments. APPH, for example, has a complex Bill of Materials: the average landing gear strut has 300 line items and over 1,000 for the complete landing gear system.

"The benefits of the system are numerous," says Haslam."You must work smarter when you implement new computer systems. MFW has helped to reduce manufacturing lead times, handle our material and parts traceability requirements, and has contributed to increasing our sales per employee ratio. The control of inventory has been improved, resulting in lower inventory levels and increased turns"

MFW has an open architecture and APPH uses its inbuilt Crystal report writer for standard management reporting, and the MS Access database for special reports.

The company is standardising its networking systems, and its hardware platforms are all NT. A Group Intranet is used across the company and information can be exchanged between the various sites. It is also linking its engineering systems. APPH's design and stress engineers work as an integrated team on each project. A good example of this is the programme for the Saab JAS 39 Gripen Advanced Combat Aircraft, where APPH designed, certified and manufactured the entire landing gear system including struts, actuators, the electro hydraulic selector and steering control valve. Electronic data exchange is carried out between the Unigraphics and CATIA computer-aided design systems and the Patran and Abacus stress analysis programs.

In addition, the company is using digital document management and retrieval systems to facilitate a paperless environment. "We are also planning to link our Unigraphics CAD and the IMAN product data management system to MFW," says Systems Manager Andy Treadwell. "IMAN is a product lifecycle management system that stores product data and information and handles related changes. The integration between IMAN and MFW is planned to be at the Bill of Materials level."

David Haslam adds: "Our vision is to have state-of-the-art, integrated ERP and Engineering systems across the Group, with e-business links to our customers and suppliers on a global basis." He sums up the benefits of MFW in one sentence: "MFW is cost effective, user friendly, and has matched our system functionality expectations."

Effects of CVAC(tm) Process on Golfers' Performance and Health Studied in Scientific Investigation

Effects of CVAC(tm) Process on Golfers' Performance and Health Studied in Scientific Investigation

The effectiveness of the Cyclic Variations in Altitude Conditioning(TM) (CVAC) process in improving golfers' performance and health parameters is being studied in a 10-week controlled scientific study. This could lead to larger studies regarding the alleviation of insulin resistance and other risk factors for diabetes.

Temecula, CA (PRWEB) June 15, 2007

CVAC Systems, Inc. and the Professional Golfers Career College (PGCC), Temecula campus announce the initiation of a controlled scientific study to investigate the effects of the Cyclic Variations in Altitude Conditioning (CVAC™) process on various golf-related parameters such as club head speed, and ball flight distance. Various physical and fitness conditions will also be measured. Moreover, reductions of LDL (bad) cholesterol and increases in testosterone are key outcomes to be evaluated.

The study protocol is being conducted under the guidance and approval of the IRC, a group of Institutional Review Board consultants.

The principal investigator of the study is Ronna Semonian, PT. As an instructor at PGCC, she teaches the Freshman and Sophomore students fitness for golf; physiology and exercise. Anne L. Friedlander, PhD., Director of the Major Project on Mobility within the Stanford Center on Longevity and Director of the Exercise Physiology Lab in the Clinical Studies Unit at the Veteran's Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System, is serving as a consultant on the project.

"Conducting a formal scientific and controlled golf performance research study under the guidance of an Institutional Review Board is indeed a unique endeavor in the business of golf. The enthusiasm of the students is exciting and we anticipate their positive dedicated participation in the study," commented Ronna Semonian the study's principal investigator.

"Although it may appear on the surface to be a fitness and golf performance study in healthy individuals conducted at a private college focused on golf career development, data from this study, if proven out, could provide an initial gateway to larger studies for the amelioration of insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and risk factors for diabetes. Of particular importance is that the recruitment of 20 uncompensated volunteers for the study was accomplished in less than one week. This suggests that the potential for golf performance improvement is a strong motivator," commented Allen Ruszkowski, President and CEO of CVAC Systems, Inc.

"This study, and the collaboration with researchers from Stanford University and the Palo Alto Veteran's Hospital, is an example of how PGCC is dedicated to providing excellence and best practices to the education of our students. The researchers will utilize the latest state-of-the-art, golf swing dynamic analysis system here at PGCC," commented Dr. Tim Somerville, President and Founder of PGCC.

Top Replication and Disaster Recovery Solutions Provider Named a CRN Emerging Technology Dynamo

Top Replication and Disaster Recovery Solutions Provider Named a CRN Emerging Technology Dynamo

SteelEye Technology® selected over larger companies for its replication and business continuity software.

Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) June 24, 2007

SteelEye Technology, a leading provider of data replication, high availability clustering and disaster recovery solutions for business continuity, today announced it has been selected by CRN, part of CMP's family of Channel Solutions, as a CRN Emerging Tech Dynamo for its LifeKeeper product line. CRN's Emerging Tech list captures companies that are delivering high margins for solution providers with innovative and easy-to-use technology that undercuts industry giants.

SteelEye's LifeKeeper® software solutions provide high availability clustering, data replication and disaster recovery for business continuity on Linux and Windows. SteelEye's reseller partners rely on the technology to inoculate their overall implementations from downtime. LifeKeeper provides this protection for both physical and virtual IT environments.

According to the 2007 CRN Emerging Tech Survey, the top reasons solution providers add emerging technologies include:
The technology is superior to other products in the market segment The technology compliments a solution providers' existing practice areas Emerging vendors provide better services opportunities Emerging vendors pay better attention to partners Emerging vendors offer higher margins Customers want alternative product choices Emerging vendors have better joint marketing programs

In addition, 61 percent of solutions providers surveyed plan to increase the number of emerging technology vendors they partner with in the next 12 months.

"Successful Solution Providers are always looking for new and innovative partners, and the CRN Emerging Tech list provides a way for them to discover a large number of potential new partners who offer a wide range of emerging technologies," said Heather Clancy, vice president and editor of CRN.

Vendors who make the CRN Emerging Tech list must have an established solution provider program and formal guidelines for recruiting channel partners. They must demonstrate that its direct sales mix is trending down as evidenced by the company's revenue history, a channel positive or channel neutral strategy for internal sales compensation, and not be a dominant market share player. Final selection to the Emerging Technology list was made at the discretion of the CRN editorial team after a review of the submitted information and conversations with current or targeted partners.

The SteelEye Channel Partner Program provides distributors and resellers access to technical and sales training, sales and marketing support, software for training and demonstration, special licensing terms and login to a dedicated partner web portal which includes sales and marketing collateral, product roadmaps and other essential information.

Primary targets for the program are system integrators in North America desiring to offer high availability, continuous data protection or disaster recovery to their customers, independent software vendors (ISVs) looking to add high availability or automated data replication to their products, and OEMs who may desire to embed higher levels of availability into their hardware devices.

"We are very pleased to be included among an impressive group of emerging vendors," said SteelEye VP of Strategic Alliances, Bonni-Jo Salazar. "This recognition by CRN demonstrates our commitment to provide cost effective solutions and the best support to our reseller partners. It's also a testament to the growing number of solution providers seeking data replication, high availability clustering and disaster recovery applications."

Educators Discover New Online Voting System is a Bully Beater

Educators Discover New Online Voting System is a Bully Beater

K-12 schools are discovering an innovative way of using a new, web-based, polling service to defeat bullies.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 17, 2006

K-12 schools are discovering an innovative way of using a new, web-based, polling service to defeat bullies. The service is called School Poll and operates through the website www. schoolpoll. com.

How does the Bully Beater poll work? All student names appear in a permanent online poll with a name like Who's the School Bully? No one is shamed because all names appear in the forum listed alphabetically from the outset. The poll is visible only to students and nominated teachers. Any student can vote any time in privacy knowing that only nominated teachers can see who gets voted and who votes. However the nominated teachers see the bully names ranked by votes. Teachers can also see which students voted for anyone with bully votes by clicking the name of the alleged bully and this inhibits malicious voting.

Many students feel uncomfortable approaching school authorities directly. The Bully Beater poll makes it so easy for anyone who is bullied or who witnesses bullying to inform school authorities. People can vote in private from anywhere, perhaps from home.

One of the first schools to use the Bully Beater idea is St Mary's RC High School in Herefordshire, UK. Assistant Head Mike Fitzgerald said, "No school is immune to bullying and schools have been searching for answers for a long time." He goes on to say, "We have been impressed by the Bully Beater poll idea. It has given us an immediate and very clear picture of where the bullying is occurring, who is affected and the extent of it. The Bully Beater won't end bullying but it's another weapon in our armoury."

The service has just been launched in the USA. The company behind School Poll, BigPulse. com, launched the website so schools could give their students a taste of democracy. The website enables schools to run secure polls and surveys on any topic imaginable at a short notice – including student elections and the Bully Beater poll. Every student can vote and all votes are counted live and automatically. It’s a practical way to show that every child counts.

School Poll founder Ralph McKay said, “It's a powerful statement to the entire community that bullying will not be tolerated. Every student will feel safer. Every parent will feel more at ease."

The technology can be used in a similar way to help school authorities report bullying incidents to education authorities.

Bentley Acquires Haestad Methods

Bentley Acquires Haestad Methods

Bentley Systems, Incorporated, a global provider of software for the lifecycle of the world's infrastructure, today announced that it has acquired Haestad Methods, Inc., an international provider of water resources solutions.

Exton, PA (PRWEB) August 4, 2004

Bentley Systems, Incorporated, a global provider of software for the lifecycle of the world's infrastructure, today announced that it has acquired Haestad Methods, Inc., an international provider of water resources solutions.

Haestad solutions provide for design, analysis, and management of water distribution supply, municipal sanitary sewers, urban stormwater collection, roadway and civil site drainage, and flood control. These products are the leading choice of municipalities, transportation agencies, consulting engineers, and contracting firms. Bentley anticipates expanded international adoption of the Haestad Methods product line as a result of Bentley's extensive global operations.

"From its founding by John Haestad 25 years ago, Haestad Methods has been an amazing success story," said Bentley CEO Greg Bentley. "As most experts and practitioners in hydrology and related fields know, Haestad Methods has literally written the book for applying information technology in water systems. Along the way, its profitable growth to more than 100 colleagues and over $16 million in annual revenues has been consistent and entirely self-financed."

"I've met the Bentley team and studied their technology portfolio. The opportunities here are astounding," said John Haestad, president and CEO of Haestad Methods. "The Bentley vision and direction are irresistibly compelling, and will forever elevate the way that civil engineers produce and collaborate. This is an ideal match of culture and technology."

As water quality has become a critical issue worldwide, water-quality engineering is now a significant growth area in AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction). According to infrastructure industry management consultant Alan Farkas of Farkas Berkowitz & Company, the growth rate of water-quality engineering has increased just over 10 percent per year on a compounded basis for the last six years. "Water-quality engineering has been and should continue to be the most attractive engineering market segment in the U. S.," noted Alan Farkas. "With this acquisition, Bentley positions itself with a broad-based software offering to water-quality engineers."

In serving this market, Bentley and the Haestad team will continue to upgrade and extend Haestad's products and move to integrate them more directly into the AEC lifecycle spanning design, construction, and operations. These plans include supporting Haestad Methods functionality on Bentley's MicroStation, the standard design platform for 47 of the 50 state departments of transportation; connecting to Bentley ProjectWise, the company's collaboration servers; and remaining steadfastly committed to users' choice of platforms.

Haestad solutions run as standalone applications as well on the AutoCAD and ESRI platforms. Existing Bentley support for these platforms includes MX, from its acquisition of Infrasoft, and AutoPLANT, from Rebis, running on AutoCAD; MicroStation V8 native support of the Autodesk DWG format as well as Bentley's DGN format; and the Bentley Connector for ArcGIS software supporting workflows spanning AEC and GIS environments.

For Bentley, the acquisition of Haestad Methods is a continuation of its consolidation of AEC solutions to streamline the AEC lifecycle of asset owners and their providers. Other recent acquisitions furthering this vision include ISIS, the leading specialist in deploying municipal and other geospatial implementations in Benelux, and AspenTech's AXSYS applications for conceptual design of process plants.

John Haestad has been appointed senior vice president of Bentley Software. "We heartily welcome John and his entrepreneurial team, which will become integral parts of our product and operations groups," said Greg Bentley. The Haestad Methods responsibilities within Bentley will very soon be expanded at a new 54,000-square-foot headquarters facility in Watertown, Connecticut.

Henniker River Group, LLC, a business development firm, acted as consultants to Haestad Methods and helped facilitate the transaction with Bentley.

Bentley and Haestad will be holding online briefings for users, executives, and the press that will further detail this acquisition and related plans as well as answer questions. To register for a briefing, please send an E-mail to bentleyhaestad@bentley. com.

An informational webpage concerning the acquisition has been established at www. haestad. com/bentley (http://www. haestad. com/bentley). Interested parties are encouraged to visit this site, which will be periodically updated to keep customers and media informed.

Homeless Man Publishes Two Books and Signs Major Technical Contracts

Homeless Man Publishes Two Books and Signs Major Technical Contracts

In 2003, Gerard Spinks was uprooted and homeless after losing technical contracts in the Silicon Valley. He sold his home in the San Francisco Bay Area, relocated to Atlanta, lost all of his money and had nowhere to live. He has now published two books, signed on retailers including Amazon. com, Barnes and Nobles, Borders Bookstores, Karibu Books, and Marcus Books, and completed major technical contracts for the largest aluminum manufacturer in the world.

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 5, 2005

Gerard Dunbar Spinks was flying high in the dot com era. The African-American technologist, had cornered the technical B2B software integration market and made millions of dollars servicing the high tech industry. In the dot com bust, he lost all of his contracts, sold his million dollar home in the San Francisco Bay Area and relocated to Atlanta where he could not find contracts and lost all of his money.

One to never give up, Gerard Spinks continued fighting even without having a place to live. After losing all of his cash, Gerard decided to continue to diversify and write a book about his experiences catered to the hip hop industry of which he is a part of.

He wrote and published his first book "How To Be Rich, Nagga" and did all of the marketing on very little other than heart. The book caught fire with retailers and is now carried in Barnes and Nobles bookstores, Borders bookstores, Karibu bookstores, and Marcus bookstores.

As a prolific writer, he decided to continue the book series and wrote and recently released his second book entitled "The Baller's Guide to MAJOR Figure$" also targeted to the hip hop community.

Why hip hop? Why urban youth? Why black kids? Gerard Spinks is an African-American male who grew up in the inner city of Peoria, Illinois. He was raised with his mother on welfare and foodstamps and has made it successfully despite obstacles. Gerard says "I must educate and teach inner city youth how to make money and keep money for themselves and their families. Traditional education doesn't work. Blaming our youth doesn't work or inspire them either. Blaming hip hop doesn't work. I decided to get busy and write about the experiences to share my knowledge and help all of my fellow inner city peoples come up."

Gerard Spinks is a savvy business person who continues to run his Spinks Technologies, Inc. technical business, author books, publish books, and invest in multi-family real estate within the United States of America. He is writing his third book presently entitled "The Gth Condition: 2010" and is turning the "How To Be Rich, Nagga" book into an audio book and translating it into the Spanish language as well.

Gerard will be giving lectures at Atlanta based Universities beginning in the Fall of 2005 and is available for bookings and lectures for U. S. wide educational facilities and prisons. Gerard Spinks donates books to various prison facilities throughout the United States.

Professionals and Entrepreneurs Will Discover How to Create Success, Fulfillment and Abundance in Their Lives at a New Seminar

Life Coach, Author and Popular Speaker Tony Magee presents his highly successful coaching system, DESTINY ON DEMAND™, in a supercharged one-day format.

(PRWEB) August 15, 2006

Top-selling author and life coach Tony Magee will take a small group of entrepreneurs and professionals on a transformative journey during a one-day seminar that’s based on his time - and client-tested method, DESTINY ON DEMAND™. The seminar will take place on September 30, 2006 in Sherman Oaks, California. Magee, who’s known in coaching circles as The Destiny Doctor, designed the seminar to serve those entrepreneurs and professionals who are actively seeking to find meaning and fulfillment in their lives.

“The seminar is for go-getters – people who are progressive in their thoughts and their lives. Just like they have to physically eat food, they also need inspirational food to keep them going,” Magee said. “DESTINY ON DEMAND™ helps people to stay focused on what it is that they want out of life and how to get there. Everybody qualifies for that.”

Using homespun wisdom and colorful phraseology, Magee helps his clients to clear out self-defeating patterns in order to make room for more supportive goals and thought processes. He then guides them through a systematic training that helps each person:

Discover their true purpose Build a supportive team and Set goals that help them achieve that purpose.

Attendees will receive thorough training in each of the four quadrants of the DESTINY ON DEMAND™ method – Name It!, Claim It!, Demand It!, and Command It!. They’ll also learn how to determine their net worth and build a life map.

“I’m offering a roadmap to freedom – a person’s own unique guide to freedom, balance and abundance. They’ll gain a deep recognition of a better life – now!” said Magee. “Whatever you want to call it – your great life, high vision, birthright, the master plan – Destiny is basically about freedom, joy, balance and abundance.”

Magee designed DESTINY ON DEMAND™ using a bi-cameral learning system that allows clients and seminar attendees to engage both sides of their brain. Combining that approach with equal parts entertainment and education, Magee insists that attendees will retain more of what they learn and thus get more value from the seminar.

“My message is affable, receivable and really loud,” Magee said. “People can hear my special way of bringing my message forth – they appreciate my personality and style."

The seminar costs $497 and each attendee is welcome to bring one guest for free (each additional guest may attend at a deeply discounted rate). As an added bonus, Magee will offer an early bird discount of $75 to those who register on or before August 31, 2006. To register, visit http://www. DestinyOnDemandEvents. com (http://www. Tony Magee grew up in a housing project in the Watt’s neighborhood in Los Angeles California. Beating long odds, he went to college, eventually earning an MBA from Pepperdine University. He has published numerous books and articles, including his top-selling book, Can’t Shove a Great Life into a Small Dream, as well as the dynamic DESTINY ON DEMAND™ Method Home Study Course. He’s the president of PlatinumStar® Life-Strategies – a Business and Personal Development Firm – and a professional member of the National Speakers Association.

Infocus Selects Panamorph to Provide 2.35:1 Wide Screen Optics Solution for Play Big Home Cinema Projectors

InFocus® Corporation (NASDAQ: INFS) has selected Panamorph, Inc. as their preferred provider of add-on lens systems to deliver the rapidly growing 2.35:1 wide screen format to owners of its high performance home cinema projectors including the recently announced 1080p IN82. The 2.35:1 "aspect ratio" of image width to image height is the most popular format of major motion pictures due to its panoramic effect. When used with a 2.35:1 screen, Panamorph lenses allow InFocus projectors to fill the full height of the screen without black bars for a truly immersive viewing experience previously available only in the largest movie theaters.

Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) September 5, 2007

InFocus Play Big home cinema projectors have Panamorph Mode I and Mode II advanced scaling capabilities built-in to work with all 2.35:1 Panamorph imaging configurations. In conjunction with a special attachment kit developed by Panamorph, converting an InFocus projector to the new format is as simple as adding the appropriate Panamorph lens system and upgrading an older 16:9 screen to the new 2.35:1 format screen.

"Our industry-leading home cinema projectors have been capable of exploiting anamorphic 'wide screen' lens technology for years," stated Robb Robles, Product Manager, InFocus. "Panamorph is at the forefront of delivering the high performance wide screen experience to demanding home cinema enthusiasts --- in other words, the typical buyer of an InFocus home projector --- at affordable pricing. We are very pleased that Panamorph now offers an InFocus-compatible solution, both for our new customers and for our large installed base of existing customers who want to upgrade their home theaters to this largest format."

"InFocus projectors certainly make the conversion to the 2.35:1 True Widescreen format easy for the custom installer," commented Shawn Kelly, President of Panamorph. "Because the projectors have the necessary scaling built in, it's just a matter attaching the anamorphic system, installing a 2.35:1 screen and showing the user how to engage the necessary imaging modes. And it's not just about having a wider format image and no black bars. Anamorphic technology allows movies in this ultimate wide screen format to be shown with an amazing 33% more resolution and 20% more light output. That's enough to want to watch your entire 2.35:1 library over again."

Home cinema enthusiasts can choose from a range of Panamorph solutions to use with their InFocus projector, from a lower cost "fixed" lens ($995 MSRP) for permanent conversion to 2.35:1, all the way up to a fully motorized and remote controlled lens system for the ultimate multi-aspect ratio performance ($5,995 MSRP).

Custom home theater installers can purchase Panamorph's optical system, including Panamorph's attachment system for InFocus projectors, directly from Panamorph. The attachment system is compatible with all recent InFocus Play Big models, including the InFocus Play Big SP777, SP7205, SP7210, IN76, IN78, IN81 and IN82.

The Concrete Countertop Institute Demonstrates Decorative Concrete in New Orleans

The Concrete Countertop Institute Demonstrates Decorative Concrete in New Orleans

The Concrete Countertop Institute participated in the Decorative Concrete Council's exposition in New Orleans this month.

Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) March 23, 2006

The Concrete Countertop Institute participated in the Decorative Concrete Council’s exposition in New Orleans this month. The exposition included educational seminars, demonstrations, and a community project in which concrete contractors, landscapers and city officials gave their time and resources to renovate a neighborhood park near the New Orleans Convention Center.

The renovation of the park at the corner of Tchoupitoulas and Religious streets included the planting of palm trees, crepe myrtles and rose bushes and the installation of decorative concrete walkways and borders. James Orgeron of Concrete Nouveau, a Concrete Countertop Institute alumnus and local decorative concrete contractor, donated and installed the curbing for the park. Orgeron and other participants were honored at a dedication ceremony on March 18.

Orgeron also coordinated the concrete countertop demonstration portion of the exposition, held at Construction Materials in Jefferson on March 17 and 18. Orgeron and Jeff Girard, P. E., President of The Concrete Countertop Institute, created a precast concrete countertop in bright yellow and green, and a cast in place concrete countertop dyed purple. Girard and Orgeron chose the Mardi Gras colors of the countertops to show the versatility of concrete.

“James Orgeron showed the generosity and spirit of New Orleaneans in rebuilding their community,” said Girard. “The Concrete Countertop Institute is honored to have had the opportunity to participate in even a small way. I hope that as New Orleans rebuilds, that the craftsmanship of decorative concrete contractors like James plays an important role.”

About The Concrete Countertop Institute:

The Concrete Countertop Institute offers the most comprehensive, engineering-based education in concrete countertops in the industry. Its mission is to raise the standard for concrete countertops by helping contractors succeed in the business of making concrete countertops. Jeffrey D. Girard, P.
