Total Rewards Software Registers 1,000th Client to Use Free Total Compensation Statement Software

Total Rewards Software Registers 1,000th Client to Use Free Total Compensation Statement Software

Milestone reached after only two years of release of free software

Rocklin, CA (PRWEB) January 14, 2009

Total Rewards Software, Inc. announced that the 1,000th employer has registered to use its free, on-demand total compensation statement software (http://www. freetotalcompstatements. com/ws/Home. php). FreeTotalCompStatements. com is the only software in the marketplace that produces professional, total compensation statements quickly, easily and at no cost.

The free statement service empowers employers to produce personalized, total compensation reports for each employee 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and from any location. Employers only need an Internet connection and web browser to get started - there is no software to install.

"Surveys show that employees value their benefits as much as their direct pay, so companies need to communicate the full value of the benefits package," said Char Ruppel, vice president of business development at Total Rewards Software. "Many companies have been tasked with producing statements in 2009, but due to this challenging economy, HR budgets have been reduced or even frozen. So our free software helps companies meet their goal without any capital outlay."

Also known as employee benefit statements (http://www. freetotalcompstatements. com/ws/Home. php), these reports show employees the value of their employer-sponsored benefit programs and the impact that value has on their total compensation.

"I have ABRA for my HRIS and in order to get compensation statements (http://www. freetotalcompstatements. com/ws/Home. php) I have to either pay a programmer or learn to put together a complicated Crystal Report," explained Sandra Rowden, HR Manager at Anderson & Kriger in San Diego, Calif. "As a result, compensation statements have not been a big priority...but thanks to Free Total Comp Statements, now our employees will be getting a statement next week. This program gives us cover letter examples, disclaimer examples, a colored pie chart, and an Excel spreadsheet all ready to go. We only have to populate it with our numbers. The customer service was excellent and I was up and running in no time."

Clients using the software range across all industries, including retail, manufacturing, construction, non-profit, education, banking, insurance, professional services and technology.

About FreeTotalCompStatements. com
FreeTotalCompStatements. com is a service operated by Total Rewards Software, Inc., a private company founded by business and technology professionals with a mission to deliver high quality, cost-effective, total compensation software solutions to the millions of small and medium sized employers in North America.

Leslie Clemmons - Stopping the World With Heavenly Vocals

Leslie Clemmons - Stopping the World With Heavenly Vocals

Leslie Clemmons is ready to Stop The World with her new release. She has constructed eleven fine songs that give the listener a varied palette of musical colors. If it is jazz, pop, rock, or all of the above, Clemmons uses her voice to mold and shape every song around the instruments with a perfection rarely found in today's endless void of watered down Britney Spears-like main stream hits.

(PRWEB) December 13, 2003

Leslie Clemmons (http://www. leslieclemmonsmusic. com (http://www. leslieclemmonsmusic. com)) is ready to Stop The World with her new release.

Stop The World also reflects some stylistic influences that the artist has been exposed to only in the last 5 years like Hip Hop and Contemporary Urban music, such as India Arie, Music Soul Child, and Jill Scott. While the new album is not a lavishly produced affair, it is a crisp, clear and unpretentious unadulterated musical box of fun that calls out to you, giving your heart a jump-start whether it wants it or not.

I found her vocal style energizing, endearing and sultry all at the same time. A very appealing combination if I do say so myself. Admittedly, if I had the choice, I would rather rock out more than anything, and the album does have its moments in that area. I certainly can appreciate tasteful and well-done music as I found on Stop The World. When music is performed with the utmost attention to professionalism and there are lyrics that make me think and reflect upon my own life, I really pay attention. Music can be the best mirror of our humanity and Clemmons has a knack of reflecting that very well in every song she performs.

Clemmons also has very good taste. I really enjoyed her version of Carole King's "So Far Away." Tapestry has held up very well over the years and remains one of the greatest pop-rock albums ever recorded by a female vocalist. I can see how such a moving album may have inspired Clemmons and many other women over the years. The fact that she aspires to create similarly well-crafted music, and pays tribute to such a legendary performer as King is an indication of her gratitude and respect for her many inspirations.

Leslie Clemmons grew up in New Orleans, LA where music was a big part of her life, enjoying performers such as Barbara Streisand, Julie Andrews and Karen Carpenter as well as New Orleans legends Wolfman Jack and The Neville Brothers. Leslie commented on those early years.

"When I was growing up, I had all kinds of styles on one station to listen to. If it was a good song, it was played. Casey Casem's Top 40 had everything from R&B to Rock to some Country stuff. I miss that."

When you listen to Stop The World it is as if she dialed in her own little private radio station inside her head and started singing. The result is a very eclectically based recording. She sites her mother as being her biggest influence for her love for art and education, while her dad's ability to be just plain silly, inspirational.

I asked Leslie if she ever received professional voice lessons and she responded, "Yes! I have personally paid for so many private voice lessons that I could have probably bought three houses by now. I studied classical voice techniques as well as musical theatre techniques and pop techniques. I wanted to use my voice like an instrument so I could serve any song I wanted to with it."

The title track, as with every song, has a storyline. Leslie wrote the song when she worked as a Concierge at one of the largest hotels in New York City. One evening, Leslie and her co-workers watched a man die on the hotel lobby floor. The man and his wife were all dressed up enjoying an evening of partying in the Ballroom, when upon returning from the party he fell to the floor with a heart attack. His wife was crying next to him on the floor. Leslie recalls it as one of the most horrible scenes she has ever witnessed.

One of the lines in the song recollects the moments... "Crying and screaming on the floor, dying to remain in the day before." The song is about wanting to go back to the day before something bad happens in order to try to stop it from happening. Everyone wishes a time machine were a reality at one time or another. A jump back in time to alter the events of our lives would change the course of history; in this case, for one woman it would have meant the life of her husband. This is yet one more example of her songwriting talents and her ability to touch the humanness of daily life.

On the marketing front, Leslie believes the Internet is truly one of the most viable ways, especially for Independent artists, to get the word out about their work. Believing that the name of the game these days is to keep moving will be her greatest asset in creating a buzz about her new album. She put it all in proper perspective when she said, "You can't wait for any one thing to be your big break; it will probably be a combination of situations that finally hit for any given artist these days. We will focus on the Internet and grass roots marketing and then go on from there." I could not agree more, putting your eggs in one basket will be the death of you when your livelihood is at stake, particularly in such a fiercely competitive global market as music.

Life, music, business, and the pursuit of your dreams, this is what Leslie Clemmons is all about. You can find her living inside her music.

Itanglese Code and Valentine's Day: Italian, Someone Still Loves You!

Itanglese Code and Valentine's Day: Italian, Someone Still Loves You!

According to a recent survey carried out by leading Italian translation agency Agostini Associati, between 2000 and 2008 there was a 773% increase in the use of English terms in Italian written texts. So what language will Italians be speaking this Valentine's Day? Agostini Associati relaunces Italian as the language of love by drafting the "Itanglese Code", a guide for reducing the growing influence of English in the Italian language.

Milan, Italy (PRWEB) February 10, 2010

This Valentine's Day marks the rebirth of Italian, traditionally regarded as the international language of love. No longer will we Italians borrow English phrases to whisper "I love you", there will be no more "kisses", or romantic "cheek to cheek" dinners in extremely "fashion(sic.) lounge food restaurants". This year let's fall back in love with Italian and limit the growing influence of 'Itanglese' with the 'Itanglese Code' - a series of rules for stemming the tidal wave of English terms and sayings that has entered our language.

The highly-respected Hoepli dictionary defines "Itanglese" as "the Italian language used in certain contexts and settings, characterised by the frequent and arbitrary use of English terms and expressions". The exponential rise in the use of English words in the Italian language (both oral and written) is undeniable: indeed, according to a recent Agostini Associati survey carried out on a sample of 58 million words produced by Italian companies, between 2000 and 2008 there was a 773% increase in the use of English terms in Italian written texts. Yet, until now, nobody has attempted to define a set of simple criteria to help us understand when the borrowing of such terms is appropriate and justified.

As such, Agostini Associati, a leading Italian translation services (http://www. agostiniassociati. it/?lng=2) agency that 'manages' over millions of words a year from Italian into various other languages, has decided to give back the Italian language some of its lustre with the 'Itanglese Code (http://www. agostiniassociati. it/itanglese-code. php)', a short guide with a specially produced logo, that aims to encourage Italian communicators (particularly those that speak to a large audience or work as educators) to be a little more sparing in their use of Anglicisms.

The Itanglese Code

The use of an English term or expression in an Italian context (written or spoken) is acceptable when:

1. The English term is found in highly-respected Italian dictionaries.
2. There is no viable translation and the concept cannot be rendered with one or more synonyms.
3. The term or expression is also a registered trademark or proper name in English.
4. The term or expression is the primary advertising slogan of an international product/service, and is maintained in English in all countries in which the product/service is present.
5. The term has an ambiguous meaning in Italian and is contained in a message in the Italian language that is aimed at non-Italians (e. g. a company letter in Italian for non-Italian colleagues in overseas offices).

In all other cases, the use of an English term or expression in an Italian context (written or spoken) is not acceptable, particularly when:

1. English terms are used in order to appear more modern and technologically advanced (e. g. in advertising campaigns on TV, radio and other communications media).
2. The communicator uses English terms to be/seem "more technically prepared" (e. g. lessons and print outs on economic/financial issues).
3. English terms or expressions are used out of laziness and a reluctance to translate them from the original.
4. The addition of English words has the ultimate aim of "confusing the interlocutor" (e. g. leaving English terms, which could be translated into Italian, in texts relating to a financial investment in order to confuse the client).
5. The use of the English term upsets the grammatical and syntactical balance of the rest of the Italian phrase.
6. The quantity of English terms or expressions used in an Italian language text or context is superior to 5% of the total.
7. The original meaning of the English term or expression is altered when used in Italian.
8. The origin of the English term or expression is Latin (N. B. many English have a Latin etymology).

For Valentine's Day 2010 let's fall back in love with Italian, the most romantic language in the world! Even mother tongue English speakers will admit that Italian is the romance language par excellence!

Agostini Associati
Founded in 1997, Agostini Associati is a leading Italian translation and interpreting services agency with offices in Milan, Rome, London, and Hong Kong. The company translates for 70% of firms registered with the FTSE MIB of the Italian Stock Exchange, and provides translations for many Italian companies that export overseas in over 60 languages. It was the first company in its sector to attain UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 quality certification.
Agostini Associati would like to thank Hon. Paola Frassinetti, Chair of the Education and Culture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and proponent of a law to defend the Italian language, for lending her support to the "ITALIAN, SOMEONE STILL LOVES YOU!" initiative.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BTOPENWORLD JOINS WITH SURFMONKEY TO OFFER LEADING INTERNET SAFETY SERVICE FOR CHILDREN

Campbell, Ca., November 6, 2001 – BTopenworld, BT’s mass marketing Internet division, has today announced it will work with SurfMonkey Inc., the family Internet technology company,* making BTopenworld the first ISP in Europe to offer this leading Internet browser and safety service for children.

Free for one month, the SurfMonkey kids browser and safety service elevates the whole Internet experience for children, helping them explore the very best web content and connect with parent-approved friends through email, chat, bulletin boards, instant messaging and their own personalized videophone.

SurfMonkey's advanced safety controls allow parents to manage what their children see, who they talk to and which Internet applications they use. SurfMonkey gives parents of younger children the option to restrict access to a directory of more than 15,000 pre-approved sites.  Parents of older children or more experienced surfers may allow them to explore the whole worldwide web. Each web page goes through several automated checks before it reaches the child so that pornography, violence, racial hatred and other inappropriate content is filtered out.**

The safety controls are not restricted to the SurfMonkey browser -- Internet Explorer, Netscape and other browsers are filtered in the same way. Although the child may contact a parent-approved list of CyberFriends, communication with strangers is blocked.

Available to BTopenworld members at www. btopenworld. com, parents can download the SurfMonkey browser for only £2.50*** per month (including VAT). A browser is then installed that is password protected. The browser itself is a fun tool for kids, with special effects that allow them to splash, slime and explode web pages.

“The Internet is a global library, rich of information readily available for the probing and inquisitive minds of children. We know that parents in the U. K. are concerned about their children being exposed to inappropriate content and contact with strangers online. SurfMonkey provides an introduction and stepping stone to the Internet, essentially opening the door to this library for children to surf, read and learn in a safer environment,” said Duncan Ingram, senior vice president of BTopenworld.

“We're delighted to be working with a respected company such as BT to open up the very best of the Internet to kids in the U. K. This association is an important step in our overall goal of making the Internet more accessible to children worldwide. We've made our safety service available in eight different languages in order to reach kids around the globe,” adds Charles Hart, chairman and CEO of SurfMonkey.

A New Northwest Business Is Going Waste-Free In Lunch Boxes

A New Northwest Business Is Going Waste-Free In Lunch Boxes

ReUsies offers reusable bags made from 100% cotton lined with leak-resistant nylon in fun designs for the whole family

Seattle, WA (Vocus) August 20, 2009

ReUsies offers a reusable alternative to plastic sandwich and snack bags. These will help to eliminate the estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags that are used and discarded worldwide each year. Plastic bags often end up as litter and are difficult to recycle. ReUsies are 100% cotton lined with water-resistant nylon (lead, BPA, and phthalate free). They are secured with durable Velcro closures that make them easy to open, yet hard for food to fall out of.

"Karen Whorton and I wanted to combat the mounting pile of plastic bags our family and friends were using every day, as well as eliminate the worldwide impact on plastic bag recycling and littering," states Becky Harper, Owner of ReUsies. "Our family alone was throwing away about ten plastic bags each day so we decided it was time to do something about it."

ReUsies are a Long-term Replacement Solution to Plastic Bags. They are designed with durability and long life in mind. They are also made with soft cotton patterns on the outside and water-resistant nylon on the inside, and will last between one-three years.

These reusable bags come in two sizes, snack (6" x5") and sandwich (7.5" x 6") versions. The snack bags can be adjusted to a smaller size by folding up the base of the bag and securing it with the extra Velcro flap on the back and are very easy to clean.

ReUsies believes in their product and the positive impact it has on the environment. They continue to actively donate a portion of their profits to educational and environmental programs.

"It seemed odd to have single-use sandwich bags that we throw in the trash every day, when almost everything else these days is multi-use. We reuse shopping bags, water bottles and lunch boxes, yet in this area there is still so much waste," says Karen Whorton, Owner of ReUsies. "We want to have ReUsies right there on the shelf next to the plastic wrap and plastic sandwich bags."

The company’s goal is to make ReUsies a staple in each American household and in local stores. As the company continues to grow, they are committed to adding additional designs and products to their selection to offer reusable, waste free solutions for each family.

About ReUsies

ReUsies are a reusable alternative to plastic sandwich and snack bags. They can replace the thousands of plastic bags used by families each year. ReUsies are designed with soft cotton patterns on the outside and water-resistant nylon on the inside. ReUsies are durable, versatile in use, and easy to clean. A range of designs is available to appeal to all family members. In time ReUsies hopes to become a part of the American lifestyle.

Online Real Estate Company Provides Support for the Families of Fallen Soldiers

Online Real Estate Company Provides Support for the Families of Fallen Soldiers

NewCondosOnline. com helped raise over $50,000 for families of fallen Navy SEALs.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 19, 2008

As the War on Terror wages on there is still a fantastic support network for our troops overseas. Regardless of the perceptions of the current administration and decisions made, the United States understands how important it is to support the soldiers that are sacrificing so much for our safety that we tend to take for granted. One thing that tends to be forgotten is that our soldiers would never be as strong as they are without the loving families that are waiting for them at home.

When a soldier makes the ultimate sacrifice for his or her country and loses their life in combat, the families are the ones that suffer the most. The families of soldiers sacrifice just as much as the soldiers themselves overseas. Many of those that we never hear about are the Special Operations soldiers still fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. They are still hunting terrorists and insurgents with great success but their story is rarely told. As the War goes on, however, more Special Operations soldiers lose their lives leaving the families with great suffering and often financial hardship.

NewCondosOnline. com (http://www. newcondosonline. com) founded by Brent Gleeson, a former Navy Seal who served in Iraq and Africa in the War on Terror, and his business partner Brandon Fishman, has made great strides to both donate and help raise money for foundations designed to provide financial and educational support for the families of fallen Special Operations soldiers.

During the 2007 Naval Special Warfare Foundation fundraising event, NewCondosOnline. com (http://www. newcondosonline. com) helped raise over $50,000 through direct company donations as well as through PR efforts. Brent Gleeson was quoted saying, "One of the main reasons we started NCO (http://www. newcondosonline. com) and have worked so hard to make it the largest condo (http://www. newcondosonline. com) advertising site in the world is so we can become profitable enough to support the charities close to our hearts. The NSW Foundation not only provides educational support for the children of fallen Navy SEALs but also provides direct person and financial aid to soldiers that have come home severely wounded and/or crippled."

In just three years, New Condos (http://www. newcondosonline. com) Online Inc. has become the largest and most visited condo advertising website in the world which provides a marketing outlet for builders and media companies and a valuable home finding tool for buyers. As a former Navy SEAL, Gleeson, his family, and Mr. Fishman have dedicated countless hours and financial resources in support of these families and soldiers.

About NewCondosOnline. com (http://www. newcondosonline. com):
The company is the largest and most visited online portal for marketing new condos and pre-construction condo developments world-wide. New Condos Online works directly with home builders and the world's largest media and marketing companies to provide a global outlet for bringing in buyers early in the sale process. The first release of BitRock InstallBuilder for Qt includes support for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X. Support for Solaris, FreeBSD, HP-UX, AIX, and IRIX will be added shortly. BitRock InstallBuilder for Qt combines robust functionality with a very easy to use interface that allows developers to use both GUI and command line interfaces to quickly develop native, self-contained installers that do not require bundling a Java runtime or a self-extraction step. The ability to build installers for all supported platforms from one project file allows for easy maintenance and updating of installers, so that developers can spend more time on their primary development tasks.

"Bitrock InstallBuilder for Qt is an important addition to the ecosystem of 3rd party products available for Trolltech's community of Qt developers. This product will enable our customers to easily create install packages for their Qt-based applications," said Robert Green, Global Partner Manager, Developer Tools.

Dave Batt Tapped to Lead Mendocino Wine Producers

Dave Batt Tapped to Lead Mendocino Wine Producers

Veteran Marketing Exec Named President of Winegrape and Wine Commission

Ukiah, CA (Vocus) February 9, 2010

Dave Batt, a longtime food and beverage marketing executive and industry consultant, is the new President of the Mendocino Winegrape and Wine Commission (MWWC).

The organization Batt will lead is an alliance of 84 wineries and 343 winegrape growers based in Mendocino County, California. Founded in 2006, the MWWC seeks to raise the profile of the Mendocino County wine industry, both domestically and around the world, through knowledge-sharing, marketing support, and outreach to consumer, trade and media audiences.

As its new President, Batt is responsible for all aspects of the Commission’s operations. Batt will take his lead from an executive committee comprised of growers and wine producers representing the wide diversity of the county’s burgeoning wine industry. Among his top priorities is bolstering Mendocino’s position as the nation’s “greenest wine region,” a stance adopted in 2008 that reflects the MWWC membership’s commitment to producing superior wine using sustainable and environmentally friendly farming and winemaking techniques.

Batt brings to the MWWC a wide range of experience that encompasses both executive and entrepreneurial roles across the food, beverage, wine, and marketing spectrum. The former advertising copywriter, producer and creative director for nationally known consumer brands developed his own restaurant and wine retailing business before becoming a credentialed sommelier and wine educator. More recently, Batt turned his focus to managing wine brands for prestigious California, national and international producers while pursuing his interest in wine education and consulting with winery owners on strategy, brand development and operations.

A graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in communications, Dave is a member of the Society of Wine Educators, the Public Relations Society of America and the Sommelier Society of America.

The Fund For Horses Announces Its Charity Organization

The Fund For Horses Announces Its Charity Organization

The Fund for Horses annouces its launch of a charity division aimed at assisting horses and those who rescue them.

HOUSTON, TX (PRWEB) December 21, 2004

The Fund for Horses, a non-profit equine protection organization based in Texas and known for its unique approach to equine protection through education and promoting a sense of community supported by its extraordinarily popular website, announces its latest venture, The Fund for Horses Charities.

When asked what motivated them to make this addition to their already widely influential and successful grassroots lobbying group, with subscribers that now includes members from around the world, its president Vivian Farrell responds, "The Fund for Horses is primarily engaged in seeing that existing equine protection laws are enforced and stronger, more effective ones are put in place. This can often be a lengthy and frustrating process. People want to do what they can to help and save lives now. We therefore set up The Fund for Horses Charities, and are focusing initially on several special projects."

One of these is the Silver Charm Club. "With the reported death of 1997 Kentucky Derby winner Ferdinand in a slaughterhouse in Japan, alarms are raised every time one of our Thoroughbreds is sent abroad to stand stud. Money raised will go toward bringing our heroes safely back to these shores when their duties are finished overseas," Farrell explains.

Another of F4HC's programs is called No Horse Left Behind. Farrell sums it up this way, "The cost of hauling horses is high. Can you imagine the heartbreak of having to leave horses standing in feedlots or in an abusive situation simply because you cannot afford to transport them to safety? It is our goal to raise funds to purchase as many brand new horse trailers as we can and donate them to qualifying rescues and sanctuaries so that more resources can be spent on saving, rehabilitating and finding homes for more horses."

The F4HC is also bringing together experienced educators to put together a curriculum for young students. "We feel that because horses are now perceived chiefly as pleasure and sporting animals, what they have contributed to the world as we know it is in danger of being overlooked or forgotten," says Farrell. "It brings to mind John Trotwood Moore's quote, 'Wherever man has left his footprint in the long ascent from barbarism to civilization we will find the hoofprint of the horse beside it.'"

Affinity Wind, LLC Announces an Investment by Saint Louis University’s Billiken Angel Network

Affinity Wind, LLC Announces an Investment by Saint Louis University’s Billiken Angel Network

New Capital Oversubscribes Series A Investment Offering

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) November 22, 2009

Affinity Wind, LLC, a St. Louis based wind energy development company, today announced an investment by the Billiken Angel Network, a Saint Louis University affiliated angel capital funding network. The $300,000 Billiken Angel Network (BAN) investment was the group’s first ever investment and included a pledge by individual BAN members that was matched by one from Saint Louis University itself. The financing oversubscribed the Affinity Wind, LLC Series A Offering, and the proceeds will be used for further development of its initial 150 megawatt commercial wind energy project in Illinois.

"We are excited about BAN's decision to invest in our company and view this funding as a tremendous vote of confidence in our business concept and growth strategy," stated Trey Goede, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Affinity Wind, LLC. "This investment allows us to accelerate our development plans, and I am thrilled by the opportunity to keep Saint Louis University involved in the business."

The project exemplifies BAN's mission of funding entrepreneurial enterprises with SLU DNA. Goede, an Adjunct Professor in the John Cook School of Business’ Management Department at Saint Louis University, began drafting the Affinity Wind, LLC business plan on campus in 2007. Goede offered his wind energy vision to students as a potential business idea for course work related to SLU’s business planning course. After working as a mentor with an MBA student on the project for a semester, Goede formally launched Affinity Wind, LLC shortly thereafter.

Fully formed for less than one year, the Billiken Angel Network is the brainchild and entrepreneurial passion of founder, Jerome Katz, Professor and Coleman Foundation Chair in Entrepreneurship of SLU's John Cook School of Business.

"I wanted to create something to support the extraordinary business ideas and plans that were coming out of our entrepreneurial students and alums," said Katz. "BAN allows accredited angel investors (most of whom are SLU alums) to invest in new businesses and the University has generously agreed to match funds." "Affinity Wind was the perfect fit for our first investment, and we look forward to great things from Trey and his team in a very exciting industry."

“Working with the Billiken Angels was definitely a positive business experience,” said Goede. “Affinity Wind has already benefitted from the angels' experience level, and we look forward to their ongoing involvement.” Added Affinity Wind’s Chief Financial Officer, Jeff Sanders, “BAN’s investment oversubscribed our Series A Offering, which represents a substantial achievement in what is a very challenging environment for new companies to raise equity capital.”

About Affinity Wind, LLC

Affinity Wind, LLC was formed in 2008 and is an independent wind energy company, focused exclusively on the development, ownership, and management of wind energy projects. Affinity's initial project is a proposed state-of-the-art, 150 megawatt utility scale development in Illinois. Affinity expects the Illinois project to be the first of several similar wind energy projects that it will develop over the coming years throughout the Midwest. For more information, visit www. affinitywind. com.

About the Billiken Angel Network (BAN)

BAN is a part of the University’s Entrepreneurship Program in the John Cook School of Business, and has access to the resources of the University, including funds for co-investment. The organization is particularly interested in “the deals that make a difference” for our economy, our region, our investors and our entrepreneurial alumni. Started in 2008, our goal as investors is to provide infusions of expertise and capital to firms that show promise to make a difference for our economy and our region. We look at firms in all industries and all stages, not just start-ups. However, the firm or start-up must have SLU DNA. This means firms owned or being started by current or former SLU students, current or retired faculty or staff, or firms using intellectual property licensed from Saint Louis University. Our goal as a network is to make a difference through education and advice to all the current and future businesses in the region. We draw on an unmatched set of resources including SLU’s Entrepreneurship Center, the Habitat for Neighborhood Business, SLU’s nationally ranked Entrepreneurship Program, the John Cook School of Business, and the other resources of Saint Louis University. Visit our website at www. billikenangels. com.

Capella University's accreditation is reaffirmed by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC)

Capella University's accreditation is reaffirmed by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC)

The online university's accreditation was reaffirmed through the AQIP process without any stipulations

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) March 12, 2008

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) has reaffirmed Capella University's accreditation without any stipulations on its affiliation status. Capella (www. capella. edu) is an accredited* online university (http://www. capella. edu/online_university. aspx) based in Minneapolis.

The HLC is an independent corporation and one of two commission members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), which was founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. The Higher Learning Commission accredits, and thereby grants membership in the commission and in the NCA, to degree-granting educational institutions in the north central region of the United States. The HLC is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Capella's accreditation was reaffirmed through the HLC's Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP), which infuses the principles and benefits of continuous improvement into the culture of colleges and universities by providing an alternative process through which an already-accredited institution can maintain its accreditation. Instead of the traditional 10-year review cycle, AQIP participants adhere to an ongoing annual review regimen. By participating in AQIP, Capella is required to analyze its operational processes and measure outcomes within each of nine different quality categories, and to set ambitious performance goals, such as converting all its courses to an outcomes/competency-based model.

In 2000, Capella became the first online university to become a charter participant of AQIP, and committed to a program of continuous quality improvement (CQI) similar to initiatives practiced in other industries. The university first received accreditation in 1997.

"This is a significant accomplishment and Capella University is proud to be one of the first institutions to have joined and successfully completed the entire accreditation cycle with the AQIP program. The program's focus on continuous quality improvement has been a natural fit for Capella," said Dr. Michael Offerman, vice chairman of external university initiatives and former Capella University president.

Capella's next scheduled accreditation reaffirmation process will be during the 2014-2015 academic year.

About Capella University:
Founded in 1993, Capella University is an accredited*, fully online university that offers graduate degree programs in business, information technology, education, human services, psychology, public health, and public safety, and bachelor's degree programs in business, information technology, and public safety. Within those areas, Capella currently offers 104 graduate and undergraduate specializations and 15 certificate program. The online university currently serves more than 22,000 students from all 50 states and 45 countries. It is committed to providing high-caliber academic excellence and pursuing balanced business growth. Nevada Firm to Begin Inoculation Program Against HIV/AIDS in Africa

Global Tech Resource Group, Inc. (GTRG) has been granted the exclusive distribution agency status in the continent and nations of Africa to distribute a vaccine, Lumoer, an immunomodulator for the treatment of HIV/AIDS-related chronic infection and a variety of tumors and immune diseases.

(PRWEB) June 1, 2004

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: Steve Dahl at (760) 804-6271

MONDAY, JUNE 1, 2004

NEVADA FIRM TO BEGIN INOCULATION PROGRAM AGAINST HIV/AIDS IN AFRICA

Las Vegas, NV (www. globaltechresource. com): While the HIV/AIDS epidemic throughout Africa shows no sign of slowing its frightening growth rate, a Las Vegas, Nevada firm is intently working to bring a growing, glimmer of hope to a continent desperately searching for solutions to the on-going, mounting, death toll. Global Tech Resource Group, Inc., (GTRG) has been granted Exclusive Distribution Agency status throughout the continent and nations of Africa to distribute "Lumoer", an immunomodulator, for the treatment of HIV/AIDS-related chronic infections and a variety of tumors and immune diseases.

The Lumoer vaccine has been researched, tested, approved and licensed by the People's Republic of China, State Food & Drug Administration, under the description of " Pseudomonas aeruginosa Vaccine - Mannos Sensitive Hemagglutination Piliated Strain (MSHA)". It is registered under PRC SFDA#S19980024, dated May 2003, to Boostitan Biologics Company of Guangdong, China for manufacturing, distribution, export and use as an immunomodulator (class II controlled medication).

Global Tech Resource Group is developing funding sources to provide inoculation treatment programs to HIV/AIDS patients within the coming months. "We are deeply inspired by the team we've assembled to address this tragic situation in Africa," said Terry Warren, a Global Tech Founder and CEO. Using revenues supported by the funding sources, the inoculation program is expected to begin in Nigeria, Africa. Dr. Stuart Quartemont, M. D., F. A.A. F.P., President and Founder of Medical Missions International - USA, International Medical Director/Founder of ICH Hospitals - Nigeria, a practicing faculty member of the Brazos Family Practice Residency and currently associated with Texas A&M University, has formally requested Lumoer vaccine from GTRG to begin inoculation treatment programs specifically related to his work in Owerri, Nigeria. Dr. Quartemont's Lumoer Vaccine treatment program will initially inoculate 2,500 patients; however, the planned program will intensify and expand the treatment efforts as increased funding supports greater momentum.

Although years of research in China have proven that Lumoer Vaccine can be very effective in cancers and other immune diseases and disorders, one of the biggest benefits of the Lumoer Vaccine treatment program proposed by GTRG is the low "cost per treated patient". In many areas of the world where HIV/AIDS and similar diseases are running rampant, many, if not most, of the poorer patients are unable to afford, and gain access to, the current, available treatments. GTRG'S treatment program using Lumoer Vaccine can inoculate patients for a fraction of the high cost "per patient treated" now in effect in many areas of Africa. The Lumoer Vaccine is not marketed nor distributed as a cure, however, after completion of the treatment program, typically about sixty days, Lumoer Vaccine has indicated a strong ability to effectively and dramatically slow or stop many immune diseases from progressing through regulating the immune responses.

Dr. Mang Yu, Ph. D. of University of California, Davis, a past recipient of the prestigious Kirschstein National Research Service Award while at Stanford University School of Medicine and an M. D. scientist involved in the research, development and licensing of the Lumoer vaccine in P. R. China, serves as the chief technical advisor/chief medical officer of Pacific Medilogics, Ltd., the Hong Kong firm owning world-wide distribution rights for the Lumoer vaccine; as allowed by the manufacturer Boostitan Biologics Company of Guangdong, China. "We also see in the near future the release of a variation on this product that could actually be given as a measure to prevent or stop disease like AIDS from spreading further." said Dr. Yu. "Our efforts in China and Thailand have proven very positive and we're looking forward to the continuation of distribution, research and on-going studies of this treatment program throughout Africa," said Martin Wong, President of Pacific Medilogics, Ltd. Pacific Medilogics has licensed GTRG to develop, expand and use various contacts and organizations in Africa to help initiate and expedite inoculation programs. Of particular focus for GTRG is to integrate with "Faith-based" organizations presently working diligently to provide many forms of service and relief.

The GTRG team effort includes the help of notable individuals assisting in the fundraising and distribution efforts for Africa. Dr. Samuel Golden, a former leading Member of South Africa's Parliament and Ambassador to Greece and Germany from South Africa and current Vice President of International Business Development with Egnatia Insurance in Athens, Greece, has personally committed to assist with the facilitation and monitoring of inoculations in South Africa. His assistance will be particularly focused and implemented through his relationships with organizations such as "In Abba's Arms", a non-profit organization working in Africa. Also joining the cause is Bishop George Dallas McKinney, of Saint Stephens Church of God In Christ, San Diego, CA. He has personally made the commitment to support Global Tech Resource Group and the Lumoer Vaccine for the Africa project. Bishop McKinney intends to spearhead organizing “faith-based” assistance through his relationships with leading ministers in the United States and various international associations. Bishop McKinney was most recently nominated for Chaplain of the U. S. Senate in 2003. On the media side, Hosanna Broadcasting Network (HBN), located in Los Angeles, CA, has committed to broadcast/telecast information regarding the upcoming Lumoer Vaccine treatment program as developments occur.

Refunds of Overpaid Taxes

Refunds of Overpaid Taxes

Free view of last three years of taxes, results in refunds of overpaid taxes for six Out of 10 Clients. New tax knowledge can save hundreds of thousands of dollars, long-term.

(PRWEB) June 20, 2005

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) September 20, 2002 – Taxback, LLC. A company specializing in the review of tax returns and recovery of overpaid taxes, offers their clients a unique service in that they provide a Free Review of their last three years of taxes. It is not their intention to replace your CPA, but to give you the peace of mind that you are taking advantage of every possible deduction you legally and ethically can. Their clients include anyone who has paid or had withheld, federal, state or social security taxes for the last 3 years, and who has any combination of the following: 1099 income, Self-employment income, an “S” or “C” corporation, Rental income, or W2 withholdings.

If you’ve ever wanted a second opinion on your taxes to make sure you’re not overpaying, this is the perfect opportunity to get one, with NO “Out-of-Pocket” expense. What most people don’t realize is that the IRS allows you to go back and apply newly released tax laws and changes to your last 3 years of taxes. Their tax review specialists not only uncover legitimate deductions that were missed, but carefully scrutinize your returns and compare them with updated tax laws and changes, to see if you are entitled to a refund. They are paid, based on performance, with a portion of any qualified refund found. If there is no refund there is no charge. Even more importantly, with the new tax knowledge gained, you can save hundreds of thousands of dollars over the life of your business.

You’re probably wondering how we do it. Is there a secret? Are we dealing with some obscure loopholes? The answer is NO. We work strictly within tax laws. Our “secret” is a combination of experience, a thorough knowledge of the laws, and meticulous attention to details.

All of our tax review specialists are either licensed CPAs or licensed Enrolled Agents. The profession of Certified Public Accountancy is second to none in its insistence upon stringent standards of ethics and performance and continuing professional education. When dealing with any CPA, you can be assured that your taxes are being handled by someone who has, at a minimum, adequate education and meets the ethical standards imposed by the profession. We make sure that all of our tax review specialists adhere to the same ethical standards and work strictly within tax laws.

Considering that the average American works the first 4-5 months of every year just to pay their taxes, the last thing you want to do is pay more than you have to. Unfortunately, an alarming number of taxpayers are unknowingly overpaying their taxes – some by as much as 25%.

The IRS has $4.8 Billion Dollars of taxpayersÂ’ overpaid taxes, sitting in a trust fund - waiting to be recovered. But, theyÂ’re not going to give it back unless you find the proper deductions in the vast tax code that were missed, or correct the errors that were made. ThatÂ’s what Taxback, LLC does for you.

Wirefly Launches Cell Phone Trade-In Program: The New Wirefly. org Provides Consumer Value, Charitable Giving and Environmental Education

Wirefly Launches Cell Phone Trade-In Program: The New Wirefly. org Provides Consumer Value, Charitable Giving and Environmental Education

Wirefly, an online leader in one-stop comparison shopping for cell phones and wireless phone plans, announced the launch of Wirefly. org (www. wirefly. org), an initiative to let consumers trade in their old cell phone or iPod devices for cash, or donate the value of their trade-in towards a charity of their choice.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) August 30, 2007

Wirefly, an online leader in one-stop comparison shopping for cell phones and wireless phone plans, today announced the launch of Wirefly. org (http://www. wirefly. org), an initiative to let consumers trade in their old cell phone or iPod devices for cash, or donate the value of their trade-in towards a charity of their choice. Some of the charities and organizations that Wirefly supports are the Lance Armstrong Livestrong Foundation, The American Red Cross, ASPCA, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and Fisher House, helping America's military families.

Developed in coordination with cell phone trade-in solutions leader Flipswap, Wirefly launched Wirefly. org to promote the safe recycling and reuse of old cell phones in a manner that benefits consumers, the environment and charitable organizations. The average American replaces their cell phone every 18 months leaving millions of unused cell phones in America today that have outlived their purpose.

"Wirefly and its parent InPhonic are together one of the largest distributors of wireless products in America today. As an industry leader with millions of customers and online shoppers, Wirefly recognizes that we have an unparalleled opportunity to give back to the community and educate consumers about the positive impact the wireless industry can have on environmental and social issues," said Brian Westrick, president of Wirefly. "Donating a retired cell phone won't cost Wirefly customers anything, but the value of their donated phones will be tremendous."

As opposed to other cell phone recycling programs that tout large proceeds to charitable endeavors but provide only small percentages of trade-in values, the new Wirefly cell phone trade-in program (http://www. wirefly. org) will provide the customer's chosen charity the entire dollar amount as indicated on the website. Current popular trade-in values include the Palm Treo 650 at $59.00, the Motorola KRZR at $73.00 and the LG Chocolate at $75.00.

For more information about the Wirefly. org initiative and to see all of the charities Wirefly. org supports, as well as environmental reasons to recycle old cell phones, visit http://www. wirefly. org (http://www. wirefly. org).

Wirefly does not handle the collection and recycling of the used cell phones and does not buy back used cell phones for the purpose of resale in any way.

Research Reveals Vision Classroom Management Software Improves Student Achievement

Research Reveals Vision Classroom Management Software Improves Student Achievement

Teachers Use Vision to Capture Student Attention, Increase Instructional Time, Eliminate Discipline Problems

Portland, Ore., & Langenthal, Switzerland (PRWEB) April 23, 2008

A recent independent research study reveals that student grades improve significantly when an instructor uses classroom management software (http://www. Genevalogic. com). The study found that the overall classroom environment is improved when software, such as Vision, is used to eliminate distractions and prevent behavior problems. Schools using Vision in the classroom also report that instructional time increases, subject comprehension improves and individualized instruction is enhanced.

The research, summarized in the paper, "The Big Brother and Better Early College Grades," was presented at the 2008 Southern Association for Information Systems Conference, conducted by Robert Joyce, from Elon University, Elon, N. C.; and Harald Schmidl, from Central Carolina Community College, Sanford, N. C.

"The essence of our findings is that, when properly used, a classroom management system can lead to significant improvement of grades," their conclusions stated. "The classroom management system should not only be used to control student work. Instead, it should be an active instructional tool that the instructor utilizes to enhance student learning."

The two computer science faculty members conducted this empirical study over two semesters while teaching Introduction to Computers courses to high school age students. Their conclusions led Central Carolina Community College to buy a site license for Vision6 and install it in all instructional computer labs.

A new GenevaLogic case study featuring Joliet Junior College reinforces the results of this study. Faculty members at the two-year Illinois community college use Vision to make the most of teaching with technology. The result has been a marked improvement in student achievement as well as improved teaching.

"We have found that test scores and student retention have increased overall as a result of using Vision," said Gregory Pakieser, a professor in the school's Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) program. "When you can control the learning environment and have students watch what you're doing, it improves your teaching."

Educators also report that using Vision6 increases instructional time because many discipline issues are eliminated and time-consuming tasks, such as distributing files to students, are completed more quickly.

The experience of Jennifer Wandzel, business education teacher at Clarenceville High School, in Livonia, Mich., exemplifies this finding. She said, "Classroom management software has been the best tool provided to me in my teaching career. I spend more time teaching and less time disciplining. I have seen an improvement in scores and an improvement in the attitude of my students."

Launched in 1996, Vision is currently used in more than 50,000 classrooms worldwide. Vision6 is the easy-to-use classroom management software that empowers teachers and trainers to guide and supervise student computer activity from the instructor's computer screen. Teachers use Vision6 to enhance learning, supervise student progress, monitor or prevent Web browsing, share computer screens and remotely control student computers.

A short video demonstrating the ways that Vision6 can be used to improve student learning is available at www. genevalogic. com/movie (http://www. genevalogic. com/movie). Copies of these studies and complete information about GenevaLogic's classroom management software solutions and purchasing options are available at www. GenevaLogic. com or by calling 866-725-7833.
