Intergraph® Provides 9-1-1 Education Toolkit for Public Safety Agencies in Support of National 9-1-1 Education Month

Intergraph® Provides 9-1-1 Education Toolkit for Public Safety Agencies in Support of National 9-1-1 Education Month

Effort promotes effective use of 9-1-1 to save seconds and lives

Huntsville, AL (PRWEB) March 24, 2009

In support of National 9-1-1 Education Month in April, Intergraph® will make available to public safety (http://www. intergraph. com/publicsafety/?source=toolkit0309) agencies nationwide an industry association-approved 9-1-1 Education Toolkit to promote awareness about the most effective use of 9-1-1 emergency services to aid 9-1-1 call centers, first responders and the public.

According to the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), nearly 240 million 9-1-1 calls are made in the U. S. each year. A large number of these calls do not actually constitute an emergency or have been made erroneously by cell phones and autodialing devices.

Educating citizens about how to most effectively use 9-1-1 can protect and save lives by reducing the number of non-emergency calls and decrease emergency response times for actual emergencies.

The 9-1-1 Education toolkit created by Intergraph in cooperation with industry associations includes tips and other information about the correct use of the 9-1-1 that public safety agencies can provide free of charge to their constituents to help promote community awareness. It features an at-a-glance citizens' guide for requesting emergency services as well as a design template for a refrigerator magnet with quick reference tips for calling 9-1-1.

The 9-1-1 Education Toolkit is a collaboration between Intergraph, the world leader in public safety and security incident management and reporting solutions, and leading public safety industry associations: 9-1-1 Industry Alliance (9IA); the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International; the E9-1-1 Institute; the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch (NAED); the National Association of State 9-1-1 Administrators (NASNA) and NENA.

"Our nation's 9-1-1 telecommunicators strive to offer swift assistance to 9-1-1 callers and an educated public improves outcomes for all parties involved," said George S. Rice Jr., executive director, APCO International. "The 9-1-1 toolkit provides a valuable means for educating the public and demonstrating to them how truly effective 9-1-1 can be when it is used properly."

"As the world leader in public safety and security incident management and reporting solutions, Intergraph recognizes the importance of educating every U. S. citizen about how to effectively use 9-1-1," said John K. Graham, president, Intergraph Security, Government & Infrastructure. "Intergraph's technologies assist in facilitating effective and efficient emergency response, but the American public can also take a role in advancing response. By educating the public about how to maximize calls to 9-1-1, communicators, responding agencies and the public can work together more effectively to save lives."

One in 12 people in the world are protected by Intergraph public safety and security solutions. Intergraph solutions protect among the largest and complex cities and government sites in the world from Melbourne to Mumbai and the U. S. Army Redstone Arsenal to Rio de Janeiro.

Texas Partners with Connected Nation to Map Broadband Availability and Prepare for Federal Stimulus Funding

Texas Partners with Connected Nation to Map Broadband Availability and Prepare for Federal Stimulus Funding

Yesterday, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples announced a partnership between the Texas Department of Agriculture and Connected Nation, a national nonprofit, to create a broadband initiative called Connected Texas and to develop a detailed broadband inventory map to better position Texas for competitive funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The map, which will feature the information of participating broadband providers large and small, is expected to serve as a key asset for the state as it prepares for federal stimulus funding to support broadband investment.

Austin, TX (Vocus) July 29, 2009

Yesterday, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples announced a partnership between the Texas Department of Agriculture and Connected Nation, a national nonprofit, to create a broadband initiative called Connected Texas and to develop a detailed broadband inventory map to better position Texas for competitive funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The map, which will feature the information of participating broadband providers large and small, is expected to serve as a key asset for the state as it prepares for federal stimulus funding to support broadband investment.

"We are excited about this new partnership," Commissioner Staples said. "Connected Nation will help Texas close the digital divide between urban and rural communities in our state. By creating a broadband map, we will learn which areas are unserved and underserved. This critical knowledge will lead to developing projects that bring high-speed Internet to all Texans, which will enhance economic development, expand educational opportunities, and improve health care."

The Texas broadband map, which will be a function of Connected Texas, will feature a collaborative, public-private approach to broadband mapping, as Congress prescribed in the Broadband Data Improvement Act (BDIA) of 2008. The map will illustrate broadband service availability at the street level, based on information from all types of providers across Texas, including cable, telephone, wireless Internet service providers, rural cooperatives, and municipalities. Most importantly, the broadband map will illustrate the service gaps that remain in rural and other remote locations. This information will best prepare Texas for a sound, yet aggressive approach to improving broadband adoption.

The Texas map will be developed under the leadership of the Texas Department of Agriculture. Through a rigorous system of broadband data collection, GIS analysis, and data verification, Connected Texas’s mapping project will determine where broadband service is currently available to Texas households statewide and, more importantly, the gaps in coverage where households are not served by any broadband provider.

Currently, more than $7 billion is available through the ARRA for broadband projects nationwide. In the ARRA, $350 million fund the BDIA. These grant funds are available for states to develop public-private partnerships for grassroots-driven expansion of broadband and computer use, particularly among unserved and underserved populations.

Connected Nation conducted a recent study of the impact of public-private broadband expansion programs funded through the BDIA and the ARRA. The study found that a comprehensive, grassroots-driven program for increased broadband access and use in Texas could result in a total economic impact of $9.4 billion through the creation of more than 173,000 jobs and cost savings in areas such as health care and the environment and through activities such as telecommuting.

"The federal government has set the expectation that states must be able to illustrate the extent of broadband coverage in order to prioritize broadband stimulus investments for unserved and underserved areas," said Brian R. Mefford, Connected Nation’s CEO. "Our partnership and the creation of a broadband map will provide Texas the opportunity to address the areas of Texas where broadband is not readily available. This will better position Texas for the broadband opportunities provided by the ARRA."

About Connected Nation: Connected Nation is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that expands access to and use of broadband Internet and the related technologies that are enabled when individuals and communities have the opportunity and desire to connect. Connected Nation effectively raises the awareness of the value of broadband and related technologies by developing coalitions of influencers and enablers for technology deployment and adoption. Connected Nation works with community stakeholders, states, and technology providers to develop and implement technology expansion programs with core competencies centered around a mission to improve digital inclusion for people and places previously underserved or overlooked. Producer and Manufacturer Response Needed for New Research Initiative Correlating Plant Performance to Business Performance

Producer and Manufacturer Response Needed for New Research Initiative Correlating Plant Performance to Business Performance

MESA International and Cambashi Request Participation to a new industry survey, Correlating Plant Performance to Business Performance

Chandler, Ariz., and Cummaquid, Mass. (PRWEB) September 9, 2009

In a difficult global economy, companies are seeking every lever in their production plants to keep business performance high so they survive to thrive in the upturn. To find out whether these operational improvements are driving business success, Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association (MESA) International and its research partner Cambashi Inc. are now inviting producers and manufacturers to respond to a new industry survey, Correlating Plant Performance to Business Performance.

MESA is seeking responses from companies in all production industries - discrete, batch, continuous process and mixed mode - in multiple industry segments located anywhere around the globe. This on-line survey is available for industry response now, and will be available through September 23. The online survey is accessible for those wanting to participate via the following links: www. MESA. org or through http://www. surveymethods. com/EndUser. aspx? F7D3BFA3F5B4A4A0 (http://www. surveymethods. com/EndUser. aspx? F7D3BFA3F5B4A4A0).

The questionnaire asks both about improvement to and performance against specific plant and business metrics, plus software applications used, and the timeliness and structure of metrics practices. The study will correlate plant results to business results to show benefits from software use. Respondents can elect to provide information on their performance in areas across the enterprise including: product lifecycle, quality and compliance, manufacturing productivity and lean, real-time enterprise and IT, and supply chain management. With adequate response, this information will be made available in industry-grouped views for MESA Premium Members as well.

All respondents to the survey will receive a copy of the public summary findings report as soon as it is released in January. MESA Premium members will also have access to a comprehensive findings report. In addition, respondents will be entered in a drawing for five MESA individual manufacturer/producer memberships, with respondents gaining one chance to win for every segment of the survey they complete. Companies with more than 3 respondents to the study will also be entered in a drawing to win a manufacturer/producer corporate membership.

Preliminary findings will be released at the MESA Europe Plant-to-Enterprise Conference October 27-28, 2009 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The conference, themed "Survive to Thrive," will include a special interactive session on Wednesday October 28th on the results of this "Correlating Plant Performance to Business Performance" survey.

"MESA is concerned with how performance KPIs translate to continuous improvement and how production impacts the company's success. Most industrial companies have a huge challenge to transform KPIs into actionable intelligence that improves business performance, and with this study, we aim to deliver not only data, but insights into good practices, and how to get a return on plant investments," according to MESA Metrics Working Group co-Chairman Steven Kaplan of Murata Power Solutions.

In addition to MESA International, premium funding sponsors for the study are: GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms (www. gefanuc. com ), Invensys Operations Management (www. wonderware. com), Logica (www. logica. com), Rockwell Automation (www. rockwellautomation. com), and Siemens (www2.automation. siemens. com/mes). Supporting sponsors are Cordys (www. cordys. com) and SAP AG (www. sap. com). The seven co-sponsor companies underwriting the effort provide deep and diverse expertise in plant operations, effective metrics practices, plus manufacturing and business software. In conjunction with MESA, these companies seek to increase the manufacturing market's understanding of the role plant performance and operations metrics play in corporate performance improvement.

Medical Billing and Coding Certificate Program Now Offered at Drexel University by the CRN Institute

Medical Billing and Coding Certificate Program Now Offered at Drexel University by the CRN Institute

Students add career marketability to their degree with Medical Billing and Coding Certificate.

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) February 5, 2007

CRN (Coding and Reimbursing Network) Institute, a partner of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), is pleased to announce the addition of an online 18-credit Medical Billing and Coding Certificate Program at Drexel University in the College of Nursing and Health Professions.

"We're excited to be working with Drexel University to offer our curriculum and courses," said AAPC's Vice President of e-Marketing, Bevan Erickson. "This is a huge step for a major university to recognize the industry demand for well-educated medical coders and billers by offering a certificate in billing and coding."

Along with the many benefits AAPC already provides, AAPC members will now also receive specially reduced rates of 25 percent off Drexel's Billing and Coding Certification, the Health Services Administration (HSA) Degree and the Nursing programs when they take these courses online. Additionally, AAPC members will receive a 10 percent reduction off the regular tuition rates for all other Drexel online programs.

Gerald Bello, Ph. D., Director of the Drexel Certificate Program and Head of Drexel's Health Services Bachelor of Science Degree Administration Program, assisted the CRN Institute in the development of the courses and bringing the certificate program to fruition.

"One of the biggest benefits of the Certificate courses is that students can be earning a degree while preparing for a national certification in Medical Billing and Coding," said Bello. "National certification can not only enhance one's current profession or job position, but certification can also lead to increased job opportunities, including working at home. Since the Certificate program is offered entirely online, it's very convenient and accessible. In a little less than a year, students can be eligible to take the national exams for their Physician Office based Coding Certification (CPC), Payer-based Coding Certification (CPC-P) and Hospital-based Coding Certification (CPC-H)."

Students may take the courses now and apply them toward the Billing and Coding Certificate in the HSA Degree, which officially begins in fall 2007. Drexel's Billing and Coding Certificate program does not take the place of the credential exam from AAPC. For more information on the Drexel courses and degrees available visit: www. drexel. com/aapc (http://www. drexel. com/aapc).

About AAPC: The AAPC provides certified credentials to medical coders in physician offices, hospitals and outpatient centers. The three certifications AAPC offers are CPC, CPC-H, and CPC-P and are the gold standard certification for medical coding. AAPC provides a wide variety of benefits to its 60,000 worldwide members. MortgageSanity. com: Financial Knowledge Helps Protect SubPrime Mortgage Seekers

MortgageSanity. com: Financial Knowledge Helps Protect SubPrime Mortgage Seekers

The current "Subprime Mortgage Meltdown" has generated a statement from MortgageSanity. com on how risky mortgage loans can be avoided.

San Ramon, CA (PRWEB) April 4, 2007

MortgageSanity. com, a website dedicated to providing explanations about mortgage processes, has declared that, "One of the best defenses borrowers have to protect themselves against predatory lending practices in the mortgage industry is education".

MortgageSanity. com has established itself as a provider of explanations in the mortgage industry.

MortgageSanity. com has been founded on the idea that lenders and brokers, by way of having more knowledge about the ins and outs of the mortgage industry, have the upper hand in most mortgage transactions. Therefore, the best way for borrowers to protect themselves financially, is to thoroughly research their mortgage options themselves.

MortgageSanity. com points out that some of the major red flags today that suggest possible predatory lending practices are brokers or lenders that:
Push advantages of "Option ARM Mortgages" Encourage fasifying loan application information Don't Provide Required Disclosures Require borrowers to sign a contract for payment whether or not loan closes Use High Pressure Sales Tactics

Whether a borrower is planning to refinance, obtain a home equity loan, heloc or new home purchase loan, mortgagesanity. com suggests that borrowers research their mortgage options and become familiar with basic mortgage terms.

15 Mortgage Tips for People With Bad Credit (http://mortgagesanity. com/2007/03/12/15-mortgage-tips-for-people-with-bad-credit/)

Mortgage Sanity also points out that "SubPrime borrowers are at especially high risk for predatory lending practices". MortgageSanity. com goes on to state that borrowers with credit problems or other factors that may lead them to be in the "subprime" category, should be educating themselves about loan options and possible predatory lending practices.

15 Signs of a Risky Home Mortgage Loan (http://mortgagesanity. com/2007/02/24/15-signs-that-youre-getting-into-a-risky-mortgage-loan/)

Mortgage Sanity now provides educational resources for people who are trying to get a mortgage after bankruptcy. People who have filed bankruptcy are at high risk of being taken advantage of by mortgage brokers with unethical lending practices.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mortgages After Bankruptcy (http://mortgagesanity. com/2007/02/09/frequently-asked-questions-about-mortgages-after-bankruptcy/)

People with past bankruptcies in their credit need to be researching all of their mortgage options and researching the ways that their past bankruptcy will affect their ability to get approved for a mortgage loan. Taking on a mortgage loan with a high interest rate, pre-payment penalty and unfavorable terms and fees is a can be very risky.

Virginia Boating Safety Education Certificate Required This Year - Boating Safety Course Available Online at BoaterExam. com

Virginia Boating Safety Education Certificate Required This Year - Boating Safety Course Available Online at BoaterExam. com

Virginia is phasing in mandatory boater safety education for everyone until the year 2016. The BoaterExam Virginia Boating Safety Course meets the state's safe boating requirements and allows boaters to get certified online. Boating safety legislation is expected to reduce the number of boating-related fatalities.

Richmond, VA (Vocus) May 26, 2010

In 2007 the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries (DGIF) passed a law that will require all boaters in the state to obtain a boating safety education certificate by July 1, 2016. Every boating season, a new age and operator group is required by law to have a certificate in order to operate on state waters. This year, all Personal Watercraft Operators aged 35 and younger must have a boating safety education certificate to operate on state waters. Boaters can quickly get a boat safety certification online by using the BoaterExam Virginia Boating Safety Course and Exam.

It is believed that this boating safety legislation has helped reduce the number of boating accidents and boating related fatalities. "There’s no question about it; educated boaters are safer boaters" says Kerry Moher, V. P. of Business Development with BoaterExam. com. "Our online course has been an extremely popular option for certification in recent years." The online boating course is recognized by the U. S. Coast Guard and approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries.

In an attempt to target all learning styles, the Virginia Online Boating Safety Study Guide is fully narrated, contains interactive flash-based exercises, over 150 animated videos and visuals in every test question. "Our students love that they can sit back and learn about safe boating in an interactive environment," says Moher, "the course engages students of all ages and learning styles. Visual learners, in particular, can't imagine doing without our visual exam questions."

The resulting Boating Safety Education Certificate is NOT a 'Virginia Boating License". Unlike a driver’s license, the Virginia Boating Safety Education Certificate is good for life and does not need to be renewed. After passing the online safe boating course, a one-time payment of $29.95 is made to BoaterExam for the course and permanent wallet-sized card. A temporary certificate can be printed immediately and the permanent card arrives by mail in 2-3 weeks.

Census Reveals a Snapshot of Violence in America

Census Reveals a Snapshot of Violence in America

Hard economic times mean greater danger for domestic violence victims.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) February 11, 2009

On one day in America over 20,000 victims of domestic violence and their children fled their homes because they feared for their lives. Hungry and afraid, they left most of their possessions behind looking for a safe place to sleep and a new start. These victims were met by domestic violence advocates who all too often struggle to meet their most basic needs. Housing, food and safety are just the beginning for someone who must begin again. This is just one of the statistics gathered from the latest survey (http://www. nnedv. org/census) conducted by the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) (http://www. nnedv. org).

Every year NNEDV conducts a 24-hour survey of domestic violence programs across the country to capture a snapshot of domestic violence and service providers in the United States. Despite the many victims that received services, an additional 8,927 requests for assistance were unmet because of limited funding.

"The current economy is very troubling for us," said an advocate from a Texas domestic violence program. "In this coming year, we're worried private donors will give less because of the economic downturn. We'll have to cut hours and staff, which will prevent us from providing a full range of services in our rural area."

"During a time of economic uncertainty, when there are not enough jobs and even less resources, domestic violence victims are directly affected," said Sue Else, president of NNEDV. "Right now, victims are unable to meet even their most basic needs. As employment opportunities and safe housing becomes increasingly scarce women and children are left more vulnerable to violence."

Released today, the National Census of Domestic Violence Services reported that on September 17, 2008, despite difficulty in raising funds for core services, domestic violence programs nation-wide provided services to 60,799 adults and children in just one day. Additionally--
Over 20,300 adults and children sought refuge in emergency shelter. More than 10,000 adults and children were living in transitional housing. Over 30,300 adults and children received non-residential services, such as counseling, legal advocacy, and children support groups. Over 21,500 domestic violence hotline calls were answered.

As in years past, this year's census paints an appalling picture of the problem. But even more disturbing is another picture: the frightening reality of a bad economy that hits victims of domestic violence especially hard.

The National Census of Domestic Violence Services is available online at http://www. nnedv. org/census (http://www. nnedv. org/census).

Printing made possible by Intelius, Inc. (http://www. intelius. com/corp).

About NNEDV (http://www. nnedv. org):
The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing public education, training and technical assistance to maintain and develop the professional expertise of advocates working to end domestic violence. NNEDV strives to strengthen advocates as organizers and activists in the tradition of social change movements. For more information, please visit http://www. nnedv. org (http://www. nnedv. org)].

"The Audience," New CD by Tenor Saxophonist Ralph Lalama and His Working Quartet, Due Jan. 26 from Mighty Quinn Productions

"The Audience," New CD by Tenor Saxophonist Ralph Lalama and His Working Quartet, Due Jan. 26 from Mighty Quinn Productions

Though Ralph Lalama has been a mainstay of the New York jazz scene since the mid-1970s, working steadily with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and Joe Lovano's Nonet, 2008's "Energy Fields" was surprisingly his first U. S. recording as a leader. Coming on the heels of that well-received date is "The Audience," which features Lalama's working band, his muscular tenor, and his uncompromising yet tradition-grounded approach to melodies and improvisation.

Richmond, CA (PRWEB) January 5, 2010

Ever since arriving on the New York scene in the mid-1970s, tenor saxophonist Ralph Lalama has been widely recognized as a Most Valuable Player. He’s been a key soloist with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra for more than 25 years, and a member of Joe Lovano’s Grammy-winning Nonet since its inception in 1999. But it was only in 2008 that Lalama made his first U. S. recording as a leader, the well-received "Energy Fields" for Mighty Quinn Productions.

Now he’s produced a worthy follow-up—"The Audience"—that will be released by Mighty Quinn on January 26. The new CD, produced by Jerry Roche, features Lalama’s working quartet, his muscular tenor sound, and his uncompromising yet tradition-grounded approach to melodies and improvisation.

“He doesn’t hide behind anyone else’s ideas, and speaks the truth. He can’t do anything else and I love him for that!” writes Joe Lovano in the new CD’s booklet notes.

Of his simpatico quartet-mates—guitarist John Hart, bassist Rick Petrone, and drummer Joe Corsello—Lalama observes that “John is not only a great soloist, he’s a great accompanist. And Rick and Joe just lay it down. It’s easy to improvise over.” The foursome have been working together off and on for the last several years, and made their debut on record with "Energy Fields."

Lalama’s repertoire choices on "The Audience" are a savvy mix of jazz classics and lesser known standards, including Wayne Shorter’s “Marie Antoinette,” Duke Pearson’s “Minor League,” and “Love Thy Neighbor,” introduced to the jazz world by John Coltrane. “Kiss and Run” and “I’m an Old Cowhand” are nods to Sonny Rollins, and the ballad “Portrait of Jennie,” one of the album’s highlights, is dedicated to the memory of his mother, vocalist Jennie Lalama.

During the 1990s, Ralph Lalama made five highly-regarded albums under his own name for the Dutch Criss Cross label, beginning with "Feelin’ and Dealin’" (1991); "Momentum" (1992), with Kenny Barron, which garnered a five-star review in the All Music Guide; and "You Know What I Mean" (1995). "Circle Line" (1997) earned four and a half stars in Down Beat and a spot in the magazine’s “Top CDs of the Decade.” The saxophonist’s final Criss Cross project was "Music for Grown-Ups" (1999), with Richard Wyands, Peter Washington, and Kenny Washington.

Lalama has also performed and/or recorded with Carla Bley, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band (now the Jon Faddis Jazz Orchestra), the Joe Lovano Nonet (on three acclaimed Blue Note CDs), Carmen McRae, James Moody, Joe Morello, Buddy Rich, Mel Tormé, and his vocalist wife, Nicole Pasternak, among numerous others.

As a jazz educator, the Yonkers, New York resident has been an adjunct professor for the past 20 years at New York University and for the past ten at SUNY Purchase. He also is a member of the Westchester Jazz Orchestra and its educational outreach program to jazz students in that New York county’s public schools. And he has conducted clinics around the world, often during tours with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.

Jazz fans can only hope that Ralph Lalama’s exceptional Mighty Quinn outings mark a return to regular recording for this deserving-of-much-wider-recognition tenor master.

Full Sail Real World Education is Proud to Congratulate Erik Adolphson for Winning “Best in Show Documentary” At The 2006 Cannes Film Festival

Full Sail Real World Education is proud to announce that Film Graduate, Erik Adolphson, was recently awarded “Best in Show Documentary” at the American Pavilion Student Filmmaker Program at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

Winter Park, FL (PRWEB) August 13, 2006

Full Sail Real World Education is proud to announce that Film Graduate, Erik Adolphson, was recently awarded “Best in Show Documentary” at the American Pavilion Student Filmmaker Program at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

During a three-day orientation, 50 students were trained on Adobe’s desktop digital video and audio tools, matched with mentors, and broken into 14 collaborative teams. The teams produced a three-minute broadcast reporting the activities in the American Pavilion, a five-minute documentary on Cannes and the festival, and a motion logo for the American Pavilion Student Filmmaker Program.

The inspiration for Adolphson’s documentary “Cannes Food,” is a look at the Cannes Film Festival as seen through the eyes of two student chefs peering out through the kitchen door. A short documentary highlighting their experience at films greatest gathering in one of cuisines' most celebrated regions.

In addition to winning “Best in Show Documentary,” Adolphson also won the “Emerging Director” Award. “I have been afforded some wonderful opportunities. Creating the piece ‘Cannes Food’ in two short weeks, while simultaneously experiencing the worlds foremost collection of new film, was a challenge. However, my education at Full Sail had prepared me well for working under very real, very short, deadlines.”

Adolphson is working on his second documentary and has recently attended SIGGRAPH in Boston with the Adobe Design Achievement Award winners. “Full Sail has given me an insight into these disciplines that has made it possible for me to capture and understand the world of these artists.”

Since 1979, Full Sail Real World Education, a college outside of Orlando, FL, has been an innovative educational leader for those pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. With over 20,000 alumni, graduate credits include work on Oscar and GRAMMY-winning projects, best-selling video games, and the #1 grossing U. S. concert tour five out of the last five years. Penguin Computing, an Intel Premier Partner, announced today that the new Relion 1670 server, based on the latest Intel 5400 'Seaburg' chipset platform and Intel® Xeon® 5200 and 5400 series processors, was the top selling high performance computing (HPC) solution for Q1 2008. Available since February, the Relion 1670 is a rack mountable computing platform, which delivers significantly enhanced performance and efficiency.

"We brought our Intel Seaburg solution to market more rapidly than nearly anyone and the market interest and acceptance has been phenomenal", said Charles Wuischpard, president worldwide field operations for Penguin Computing, "During the first quarter, this product accounted for nearly 40% of all orders including several systems that should qualify for TOP500 status."

The Relion 1670 provides many unique capabilities in its class. This system supports a higher 1600MHz front side bus speed whereas typical mainstream enterprise servers are limited to 1333MHz. This higher speed bus unlocks the full performance potential of the fastest Intel Xeon 5400 series CPUs. New service connects prospective online faculty with institutions offering online courses

New service connects prospective online faculty with institutions offering online courses

As enrollments in online courses continue to grow, institutions are challenged to identify qualified, experienced online faculty. Persons who desire to teach online are often frustrated with the time consuming process of searching for online teaching positions. A new service called FacultyFinder has been created at the intersection of these two needs.

(PRWEB) May 19, 2004

Using FacultyFinder. com a prospective online faculty member can create a fully searchable profile for free. Subscribing institutions can then search the database by dozens of variables including academic background, online teaching experience, learning management system familiarity, etc. Administrative features allow institutions to save searches, organize search results in folders, directly communicate with candidates, and even receive alerts when additional candidates matching their search criteria create a FacultyFinder profile. In the first month of availability 1200+ prospective faculty members have created profiles.

Dr. Mac Adkins, Dean of Distance Learning at Troy University, Montgomery Campus, reported that, “Over the past decade thousands of American institutions of higher education began offering academic courses via the Internet. Most of these schools started using their own local faculty to develop and teach these online courses. But due to factors such as enrollment growth and faculty teaching load restrictions, institutions have began to use “distant faculty” - faculty members who are geographically not able to serve the institution on a local campus - to teach their online courses.” Market research for FacultyFinder revealed that approximately 60% of the 4200 universities and colleges in the United States are currently using “distant faculty” to teach online courses. Approximately one-third of those institutions currently using only local faculty reported that they would probably or definitely use distant faculty within the next two years.”

According to Dr. Susan Aldridge, Vice President, Troy University, University College, “finding online faculty is the long pole in the tent for distance learning. As online enrollments continue to grow it is a challenge to continue to staff our online courses with qualified faculty.” Pamela Gouws of the University of Maryland University College stated that the service was intuitive, user friendly and that they are excited about the benefits of FacultyFinder in their online faculty recruitment.
