Rockaway, N. J. (PRWEB) April 15, 2010

Party City, America's largest party specialty retailer, shares predictions for the top 2010 graduation party trends as record numbers of students plan to celebrate. To ensure hosts throw the ultimate 'grad bash' this spring, the party experts share the following fun, budget-conscious tips:
Show School Spirit: Incorporate school colors as an easy, inexpensive way to create chic graduation looks. Add extra "Wow!" and height to the party with school color-themed wall decorations and graduation balloon bouquets (http://www. partycity. com/category/special+occasions/graduation+party+supplies/graduation+balloon+bouquets. do). Create Custom Themes: Personalize the party by incorporating the grad's sense of style and extracurricular activities into the decorations. Use Hollywood inspired decorations for drama lovers or sports accessories for athletes. Incorporate pictures into table settings, use old art projects as fun centerpieces … and, just remember to make the event special and unique to the graduate.

Make the Moment Memorable: Help guests create lasting memories with autograph-friendly t-shirts, balloons or stuffed animals where friends and family can leave fun messages or advice for the future. Framing the grad's portrait or a class photo with an extra wide matte for guests to sign is a great way to capture guests' attendance and makes a wonderful keepsake.

Flaunt Personality: From customizable banners to colorful lawn signs, tailor the party to each graduate. New Study Reveals that Half of Women are Furious with their Husbands; Solutions Offered by Relationship Institute of Royal Oak, Michigan

New Study Reveals that Half of Women are Furious with their Husbands; Solutions Offered by Relationship Institute of Royal Oak, Michigan

Parenting magazine recently surveyed 1000 mothers in the US, and discovered that half of them are angry at their husbands on a regular basis. Moms are angry that their husbands don't notice what needs to be done in the house and seem clueless about how to take care of their children. They are mad that their husbands - talented at work - can't seem to multitask at home at home. The mothers also felt it was unfair that the men took much more time for themselves and don't do their fair share of household chores. Relationship Institute of Royal Oak, Michigan offers solutions for couples with these issues.

Royal Oak, MI (PRWEB) February 6, 2009

It's no shock to hear that women are angry with their husbands, but a new study of 1000 mothers by Parenting Magazine highlights the severity of the problem. Almost half of the mothers surveyed were angry at their husbands on a regular basis, and the effects were worse for couples with infants, or with three or more children. Moms are furious because husbands ignore household chores, can't multitask, and take ample time for themselves - while the mothers work around the clock.

This seething anger can lead to serious problems for couples. Unexpressed anger creates a barrier to companionship and intimacy, and can impact physical health in a number of significant ways. Dr. Redford Williams, director of the Behavioral Medicine Research Center at Duke University, says "Anger can damage your heart, and has been found in epidemiological studies to identify people who are more likely to have a heart attack or drop dead from any cause."

Moreover, unresolved anger can lead to more violence among couples, especially during times of economic stress, such as we are now experiencing. Calls to the National Domestic Violence Hotline have shot up during the recession, says spokeswoman Retha Fielding. For example, there were 21% more calls in September 2008 than in September 2007. When the stock market plunged in October 2008, there were 18% more calls than in October 2007.

Relationship Institute of Royal Oak, Michigan, a leading psycho-educational service organization for 17 years, helps couples learn to communicate constructively about their resentments, and resolve past hurts that can lead to ugly blowups.

"We've seen hundreds of couples come into our office with smoke coming out of their ears," says Shirley Bavonese, ACSW, Co-Director of the Relationship Institute with Psychologist husband Joe. "They just don't have the tools to manage it effectively, and they end up avoiding each other or having screaming matches when forced to discuss an issue. Our culture does a poor job of preparing us for intimate relationships. The role models in the media are either sensationalistic drama queens or sappy couples who never argue. The good news, though, is that just as with any other skill, couples can learn how to communicate more effectively if they are motivated to do so."

Relationship Institute offers individual and couples counseling, and this Valentine's Day is offering a special workshop for couples based on the internationally renowned PAIRS couples-enrichment program, entitled Passage to Intimacy. The workshop emphasizes learning how to communicate in a safe way about any issue causing hurt, annoyance or frustration, and how to re-romanticize a relationship that may have gotten stale.

For details on the workshop go to:

Universities Use High-Tech Massage Chairs To Help Their Faculty Unwind

Universities Use High-Tech Massage Chairs To Help Their Faculty Unwind

Many universities are now making massage chairs available to their faculty, both in an effort to reduce stress and improve work performance, but also as a novel teaching tool.

La Jolla, CA (PRWEB) March 31, 2006

Many universities are now making massage chairs available to their faculty, both in an effort to reduce stress and improve work performance, but also as a novel teaching tool. College faculty members are expected to fill many roles during the course of their day; they are friends, mentors and even surrogate parents, and wearing all of those hats can really wear a person out. In order to help their faculty stay energized, many schools have begun using a new breed of super-advanced massage chairs from companies like Premier Health Products and Panasonic to help reduce stress, and make their faculty more productive.

Faculty members are encouraged to take a massage between classes, or in the morning as they start their day. Many professors may not find the time in their busy schedules for traditional massage therapy, but massage chairs offer a quick way to get many of the same benefits with no sticky oils and no appointments.

At some institutions, massage chairs are being used not only to unwind faculty, but also as a way to build faculty student relationships. These institutions use advanced massage chairs as a way to get faculty and students together outside if the classroom on “neutral ground” by setting up special Relaxation Spaces, complete with soothing music and scented candles. These spaces are often study-free zones, where the relaxation mandate is strictly enforced. They give students a much needed place to unwind and maybe see their professors in a new light, but they can also perform a more important educational function.

Learning how to work hard in a demanding environment is what college is all about, but being able to relax in a healthy manner is also a big part of coping with the real world outside of school. The use of massage chairs and health-conscious relaxation rooms allow faculty to model what some educators would call “good relaxation skills”. Massage chairs and relaxation rooms are a fun and healthy way to cut loose, and they involve absolutely no vomiting and no fake ID’s. The idea of “teaching relaxation” is something that is gaining credence in the American education system as massage chairs and other health devices gain popularity, and as campus drinking becomes more and more problematic.

Disabled Gyro Pilot Offers Top Ranked Website Up For Grabs On Ebay!

Disabled Gyro Pilot Offers Top Ranked Website Up For Grabs On Ebay!

The top ranked site on Google and Yahoo for 'cheap laptops' is being offered for sale by auction. The creator and MD is a disabled Gyroplane pilot whose declining health is forcing the sale of his business. With free traffic valued at over £120,000 per year, this small site provides a unique oportunity for the new owners.

(PRWEB) September 19, 2004

One of the world's top-ranked web sites for second user computer equipment is to be listed for sale by auction on Ebay. On 23rd September the domain name, www. a1-cheap-laptops. com, together with related domain names and customer & supplier data, will be entered on the Ebay site in a ten day auction.

The web site, owned by Focus Computers Ltd (Focus Computers) in Chandlers Ford, currently receives an average of more than 400 unique visitors every day searching for second-user laptop computers and is top-ranked on the Google and Yahoo search engines. In a Google. com search, by far the most popular search engine worldwide, the domain name is ranked number two when using the search phrases "cheap laptop" or "cheap laptops". A Yahoo based search produces similarly impressive results with the domain name achieving a first page ranking using the same search phrases.

Focus Computers estimate that achieving this level of targeted traffic using paid for advertising via "Google Adwords" or "Overture" would require an investment in the region of USD$200,000 per annum based on an average cost per click of USD$1.40.

Focus Computers was established by the managing director, Steve Kirkby, in 1994 and specialises in providing affordable computing to the student and education market. The company purchases premium brand name, second user and factory refurbished laptop computers and sells direct to the end user. Standard and extended warranties are offered on all sales. The successful Ebay bidder will be offered an option to purchase the business by separate negotiation.

Mr Kirkby, a disabled Gyroplane pilot, has managed to beat the multi-nationals at their own game. Attaining this prized position for free traffic for his website. Even with his poor academic background, he has shown that with a lot of resolve, that the small guy can outflank the 'dot coms' .

Commenting on the proposed sale Steve Kirkby said, "We've been very successful in achieving high rankings for a1-cheap-laptops. com in the key search engines -- a prerequisite for any web based business. From that position we've built a company with significant and reliable turnover and one that could be easily taken over or incorporated into an existing business. Due to a recently diagnosed chronic health condition I'm unable to continue building the business but will be on hand to provide consultancy to the new owner for a pre-determined period."

Notes to editors: Printed copies of the company accounts and site traffic statistics are available from Focus Computers The auction will commence on 23rd September 2004 and will be found by searching on the Ebay user ID "stevekirkby". Recent Changes May Affect Your 2004 Taxes

Recent Changes May Affect Your 2004 Taxes

Some recent tax law changes are effective for the 2004 Tax Year. If these items affect you, be sure to get the details when you prepare your tax return early next year.

(PRWEB) November 8, 2004

Some recent tax law changes are effective for the 2004 Tax Year. If these items affect you, be sure to get the details when you prepare your tax return early next year.

Exemption Amount Increased: The amount you can deduct for each exemption has increased from $3,050 in 2003 to $3,100 in 2004. You lose all or part of the benefit of your exemptions if your adjusted gross income is above a certain amount. The amount at which the phaseout begins depends on your filing status.

For 2004, the phaseout begins at:

$107,025 for married persons filing separately, $142,700 for single individuals, $178,350 for heads of household, and $214,050 for married persons filing jointly and qualifying widow(er)s with dependent children.

Retirement Savings Plans: The following paragraphs highlight changes that affect individual retirement arrangements (IRAs) and pension plans.

Traditional individual retirement arrangement income limits. If you have a traditional individual retirement arrangement and are covered by a retirement plan at work, the amount of income you can have and not be affected by the deduction phaseout increases. The amounts vary depending on filing status.

Limit on elective deferrals. The maximum amount of elective deferrals under a salary reduction agreement that can be contributed to a qualified plan increases to $13,000 ($16,000 if you are age 50 or over). However, for SIMPLE plans, the amount increases to $9,000 ($10,500 if you are age 50 or over).

Standard Deduction Amount Increased: The standard deduction for taxpayers who do not itemize deductions on Schedule A of Form 1040 is, in most cases, higher for 2004 than it was for 2003. The amount depends on your filing status, whether you are 65 or older or blind, and whether an exemption can be claimed for you by another taxpayer.

The basic standard deduction amounts for 2004 are:

Head of household - $7,150 Married taxpayers filing jointly and qualifying widow(er)s - $9,700 Married taxpayers filing separately - $4,850 Single - $4,850

The full 2004 Standard Deduction Tables will be shown in the January 2004 version of (http://www. irs. gov/publications/p505/index. html (http://www. irs. gov/publications/p505/index. html)) Publication 505, Tax Withholding and Estimated Tax.

Tuition and Fees Deduction: Beginning in 2004, the amount of qualified education expenses you can take into account in figuring your tuition and fees deduction increases from $3,000 to $4,000 if your modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) is not more than $65,000 ($130,000 if you are married filing jointly). If your MAGI is more than $65,000 ($130,000), but not more than $80,000 ($160,000 if you are married filing jointly), your maximum tuition and fees deduction will be $2,000. No tuition and fees deduction will be allowed if your MAGI is more than $80,000 ($160,000). The tuition and fees deduction is explained in chapter 6 of (http://www. irs. gov/publications/p970/index. html (http://www. irs. gov/publications/p970/index. html)) Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education.

EducatorsÂ’ Deduction: This had expired at the end of 2003, but was restored for two more years. IR-2004-124 has more information.

Clean Fuel Vehicle Deduction: The maximum amount of this deduction was scheduled to drop this year and next, but has been retained at the $2,000 level through 2005. IR-2004-125 has information on this deduction and the newest vehicle to qualify for it.

Child Tax Credit: Taxpayers with a credit amount more than their tax could get a refund of the difference, up to 10% of the amount by which their 2004 taxable earned income exceeds $10,750. This percentage was raised to 15% for 2004, meaning a larger refund for many of these taxpayers.

Combat Pay: Some military personnel receiving combat pay get larger tax credits because of two law changes. The new law counts excludable combat pay as income when figuring the Child Tax Credit and gives the taxpayer the option of counting or ignoring combat pay as income when figuring the Earned Income Tax Credit. Counting combat pay as income when calculating these credits does not change the exclusion of combat pay from taxable income.

Sales Tax Deduction: Taxpayers who itemize deductions will have a choice of claiming a state and local tax deduction for either sales or income taxes on their 2004 and 2005 returns. The IRS will provide optional tables for use in determining the deduction amount, relieving taxpayers of the need to save receipts throughout the year. Sales taxes paid on motor vehicles and boats may be added to the table amount, but only up to the amount paid at the general sales tax rate. Taxpayers will check a box on Schedule A, Itemized Deductions, to indicate whether their deduction is for sales or income taxes.

Expense Limit for SUVs: Businesses should be aware of a change regarding the deduction for certain sport utility vehicles (SUVs) placed in service after Oct. 22. Under the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004, businesses cannot take a first-year deduction of more than $25,000 for an SUV. The business would depreciate the remaining cost. (The limit for vehicles placed in service before Oct. 23 was $100,000.) The new limit does not affect other types of property where the taxpayer decides to expense the cost instead of depreciating the property.

Sale of Personal Residence Acquired in a Like-kind Exchange: Taxpayers who convert rental property to a principal residence should know that a tax law change may limit their ability to exclude gain on the sale of that residence if they obtained the property through a like-kind exchange. Generally, a taxpayer can exclude up to $250,000 of gain on the sale of a home, provided the individual has owned and used it as a principal residence for two out of the five years before the sale. The exclusion is $500,000 for a married couple if both meet the use test. The American Jobs Creation Act of 2004 does not allow any exclusion if the taxpayer sells the home within five years of acquiring the property through a like-kind exchange. The new law applies to sales after October 22, 2004.

Zenith Infotech Europe to Demonstrate SmartStyle Office “On-Premise Cloud” at Upcoming IP Expo in October

Zenith Infotech Europe to Demonstrate SmartStyle Office “On-Premise Cloud” at Upcoming IP Expo in October

Innovative turnkey solution dramatically reduces the cost and complexity of buying, installing and managing an entire IT infrastructure for small and medium business.

(PRWeb UK) October 14, 2010

Zenith Infotech Europe, an international company serving IT Service Providers worldwide, will be staging the first UK demonstration of its innovative SmartStyle Office at the upcoming IP Expo from the 20-21 of October at Earls Court in London.

SmartStyle Office is the first “On-Premise Cloud” solution to provide a completely scalable IT environment from within a single device. The SmartStyle Computing® concept is a private cloud solution, which replaces conventional hardware and infrastructure with virtual desktops, servers, storage and networking. It includes advanced features that provide more reliability and flexibility than traditional IT systems: auto provisioning of servers/desktops, a built in dispersed storage SAN, 15 minute snapshotting, golden image technology, automatic failover, and much more! Following its tradition of creating Service Provider Enabling solutions, Zenith Infotech also bundles its full 24/7 monitoring & NOC.

Zenith Infotech Europe will have a live demonstration on its stand which will focus on how the revolutionary hybrid model offered by SmartStyle Office is helping to reduce the cost and complexity of IT environments while simplifying the delivery of managed services such as disaster recovery, IT monitoring and helpdesk.

IP EXPO the UK's largest end-to-end IT infrastructure event is a showcase for all the latest technology in one place at one time. With a full educational programme, IP EXPO helps IT professionals learn about IP Networks, Virtualization, Cloud, Wireless and Storage technologies – and see how they connect together.

“Organisations of all shapes and sizes are looking at ways to reduce the cost of information technology and our launch of SmartStyle Office provides an innovative platform to deliver an IT platform as a simplified service from a single appliance.” comments Wilbert Ingels, Managing Director at Zenith Infotech Europe.

With huge interest in the market for virtualisation and software-as-a-service, SmartStyle Office provides a more cost effective alternative for smaller organisations or departments who would not financially benefit from a switch to either a traditional VMware or Citrix style virtualisation solution. These firms can’t afford the initial high capital investment and additional IT staffing costs to move to a virtualised environment, especially as traditional maintenance and support contracts are not reduced by just the virtualisation of servers. Instead SmartStyle Office provides simple provisioning and management of virtual servers and desktops complete with pre-configured networking, distributed storage, backup, hardware-based power management all in a high availability set-up.

Media Alert - Accedian Networks’ High Performance Service Assurance Platform To be Featured in the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo CTO Tour

(PRWEB) October 15, 2010

WHAT:
A group of the industry’s most prominent CTOs and invited guests will tour the Accedian
Networks exhibit at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo® 2010 for a brief overview/demo of the Company’s High Performance Service Assurance™ platform—consisting of the MetroNID® and MetroNODE 10GE™ hardware-based network interface devices (NIDs), as well as its comprehensive suite of performance monitoring software for Carrier Ethernet and IP networks.

WHO:
Craig Easley, VP Marketing & Product Management will give an overview and demo of Accedian’s technology, followed by a brief Q&A.

WHEN:
Thursday, October 21, 2010
1:25 p. m. – 1:40 p. m.

WHERE:
SCTE Cable-Tec Expo
New Orleans, IL
Accedian Networks Booth # 1908

WHY:
Designed to increase the educational value of exhibits on the show floor, Cable-Tec Expo’s CTO-led Tours is part of SCTE’s commitment to bring problems and problem solvers together. Accedian, the #1 provider of performance assurance solutions for Ethernet mobile backhaul was selected to present its High Performance Service Assurance platform to demonstrate how cable operators can leverage the solution to successfully deploy Carrier Ethernet mobile backhaul services.

Featuring the industry’s only Fast Performance Assurance Agent silicon processor (Fast-PAAs™), Accedian’s purpose-built NIDs outperform Carrier Ethernet Switch/Routers (CESRs) that have implemented performance assurance features as software enhancements and lack the processing power to accommodate the volume of Accedian’s MetroNID and MetroNODE devices. Accedian’s family of NIDs also leverage standards-based performance monitoring (ITU Y.1731) to measure the key performance indicators (KPIs) of service performance including latency, frame delay variation and frame loss—with measurements that are accurate to within a microsecond compared to CESRs which are accurate only to within 10’s of milliseconds. Accedian’s platform provides operators with the service level performance information that is critical to Carrier Ethernet deployment—without sacrificing the quality or performance of the service itself.

Congressional Black Caucus To Hold Candlelight Vigil for Katrina Victims

Congressional Black Caucus To Hold Candlelight Vigil for Katrina Victims

Hurricane Katrina Survivors, Members of Congress to Pay Tribute to Hurricane Survivors as Opening Event of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's 35th Annual Legislative Conference

WASHINGTON, D. C. (PRWEB) September 19, 2005

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus will be joined by Hurricane Katrina survivors who are housed at the DC Armory for a Candlelight Vigil. The event is open to the public and will take place at 8:00 p. m. on Wednesday, September 21st on the West Lawn of the NationÂ’s Capital.

This Candlelight Vigil will pay tribute to Katrina survivors and those who have worked tirelessly to assist with the restoration of the Gulf States. Participants will be provided the opportunity to express condolences for those affected by the tragedy through music, speech, prayer and candlelight.

“This vigil symbolizes the Caucus’ recognition of the need for a spiritual and uplifting focus for the ALC, rather than one of celebration and jubilation as is typical of the event. We are coming together as a community with those who have fallen victim to this disaster for a period of reflection and prayer,” said Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX). “We must now work to help restore and redevelop the lives impacted most by Hurricane Katrina,” she said.

Congresswoman Jackson-Lee spearheaded the Candlelight Vigil, as her congressional district of Houston, TX shoulders a large part of the burden of Hurricane Katrina survivors who lost their homes and loved ones. The Candlelight Vigil is just one of the activities planned as part of the Congressional Black CaucusÂ’s 35th Annual Legislative Conference (ALC), the premier African American conference on policy issues. The Congressional Black Caucus has also established a CBCF Katrina Relief Fund and has joined forces with UPS to collect donated items. Upon the completion of the Annual Legislative Conference, donated items will be distributed to shelters and churches through the Gulf States as well as areas that have welcomed Katrina survivors.

“Hurricane Katrina will be a key issue for this year’s Annual Legislative Conference,” stated Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-IL), who, along with Jackson Lee, will Co-Chair the ALC. “CBC’s Foundation will work to develop legislation to aid in long-term recovery efforts in the Gulf States. Our legislation will focus on recovery, reclamation, restoration, rejuvenation, and reunion,” he said.

The CBCFÂ’s 35th Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) provides the platform for the 43 African American Members of Congress to share the progress of their work on legislative items and also allows for the exchange of ideas correlated to policy issues that are of critical concern to their constituents. The ALC provides the opportunity for people from across the nation to come together in one place, at one time to focus on the pressing issues that challenge Black America. The CBCF, established in 1976, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy, research and educational institute focused on leadership education, public health, economic development, and African Globalism.

(PRWEB) July 9, 2003

The third annual Global People Skills Conference will be held October 28 and 29, 2003 at the Georgia Centers for Advanced Telecommunications Technology (GCATT).

“Business, technology and people skills come together in a cohesive way with the experts we have assembled to help companies improve their profit margins and positioning in the international marketplace,” says Karla Brandau, CSP, conference creator and producer. “’New and Improved’ for this third year is such a cliché that I hesitate to use it”, Brandau continues, “but it is nevertheless true, thanks to our close association with Georgia State’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business.”

Dr. Sidney Harris, Dean of Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business will kick off the conference on October 28. According to Dean Harris, “Robinson is extremely pleased to again serve as a major partner in the Global People Skills Conference. Preparing students and executives for leadership roles in today’s dynamic global marketplace is one our major strategic objectives. We believe this program melds perfectly with Robinson’s goals and is one of the best such programs available anywhere.”

“This conference will be more thought provoking and action oriented than ever before, hence the title, ‘Think Tomorrow, Act Now.’” Brandau states. Brandau’s Atlanta based People Skills International, delivers targeted soft skill training to management and executive level teams working in the global marketplace.

Communication, cooperation and bottom line profits in the global company is, to different degrees, affected by culture, religion, race and politics. Organizations must become sensitive to and educated about these factors to sustain profit levels and growth in a worldwide community. The conference will provide this education for attendees.

Manhattan, New York Dermatologist Debra Jaliman, MD One of First to Offer the New FDA Approved Facial Filler Perlane

Manhattan, New York Dermatologist Debra Jaliman, MD One of First to Offer the New FDA Approved Facial Filler Perlane

Board Certified Dermatologist, Debra Jaliman, MD from Manhattan, New York announced today that she will be offering the new FDA approved facial filler Perlane. The dermatologist (who is in private practice in NYC) will be one of the first to offer this highly anticipated facial filler.

Manhattan, NY (PRWEB) May 21, 2007

Board Certified Dermatologst, Debra Jaliman, MD of Manhattan, New York announced today that she will be one of the first Manhattan, New York cosmetic dermatologists to offer her patients the new FDA approved facial filler Perlane.

Perlane has been used safely and effectively by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 2000 outside the United States. Dr. Jaliman studied over a two year period in Europe with cosmetic surgeons to learn how to safely and effectively perform the procedure. "I felt it was necessary to receive not only first-had training on how to use Perlane but also to attend the training courses to become certified in using a brand new facial filler. The training and courses were only being offered in Europe. Most doctors just receive the facial injectable from drug reps and read the literature on the administration process. I am much more hands on and believe in solid education before offering a new cosmetic procedure," reports Doctor Jaliman, who has been using Perlane facial fillers on patients in Europe for over two years.

According to a survey released in February, 2007, by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) American's have become more interested in faster results will less down-time. The annual survey found that there was a 69% increase among women and a 91% increase among men undergoing non-surgical facial plastic and cosmetic surgery since 2000.

In response to this demand, facial fillers have become one of the most requested cosmetic procedures. "Many of my NYC patients are looking for immediate results with no-downtime. It is astonishing how many of my patients are requesting facial fillers."

Facial fillers are injections which yield immediate results and require no down-time. They can dramatically correct wrinkles, diminish smile lines, crow's feet, marionette lines, and smokers lines. The more modern uses of facial fillers are lip augmentation, filling cheek depressions, correcting acne scars, redefining the lip border, chin augmentation, as well as a nonsurgical
Alternative to rhinoplasty.

According to the Manhattan dermatologist the most common uses of facial fillers by brand include:
Radiesse to build cheek bones and Cosmoplast, Captique, Comoderm, Restylane, Silicone (microdroplets) and Perlane for acne scars. "These products are the best for acne scars because they stimulates the body to make its own collagen," states Debra Jaliman, MD. Radiesse is popular for nasal labial folds and marionette lines. For lip augmentation Cosmplast and Cosmoderm for lip borders. "Perlane will most likely be the new facial filler of choice now that it is FDA approved, "says the NYC dermatologist. Perlane can last for over 9 months, making it one of the longer lasting non-permanent facial fillers. "I have see it last for well over a year," reports Dr. Jaliman.

The Board Certified Dermatologist has hundreds of patients who have been to other doctors for facial fillers and encountered complications such and lumping, bumps, and over-correction. She is well known for developing her own technique for fixing Perlane, Juvederm, Hylaform, Restylane, and basically any other facial filler mistake by another doctor. " I can often dissolve the mistake without dissolving the fillers," says the dermatologist.

Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation Expands on Success of First Three Years

Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation Expands on Success of First Three Years

Substantial New Grants in 2009 Enable Foundation to Continue to Play Leading Role in Supporting Social Entrepreneurs Around the Globe

Houston (Vocus) March 5, 2009

Three years since its inception, the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation (http://www. lexmundiprobono. org/lexmundiprobono/Default. asp) has far surpassed expectations and has made a solid impact on the global social entrepreneurship movement. Through the work of the Foundation, more than 200 social entrepreneurs have been connected with vital pro bono legal services to carry out 400 separate projects aimed at bringing about positive social change and helping improve the lives of the poor and disenfranchised around the globe. More than 75 Lex Mundi member firms in 40 countries and 30 US states have provided pro bono legal assistance on these projects.

The success of the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation has been made possible through the work and generosity of Lex Mundi member firms and their lawyers as well as through seed money provided in 2006 by several leading foundations. The Foundation is pleased to announce that substantial new grants in 2009 from three foundations will enable it to continue to play a leading role in supporting the global social entrepreneurship movement. These grants will also enable the Foundation to embark on the following new initiatives:
As a result of a grant from The Lemelson Foundation, the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation will identify and provide pro bono legal services to invention-based social entrepreneurs around the world; Through a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation will provide pro bono legal services to winners of the Knight's News Challenge, an international contest to find the best ways to deliver news and information in the digital age. The foundation also will work with Ashoka Innovators for the Public to provide pro bono legal services to Ashoka Fellows in the 26 Knight Communities in the US and to the group's Journalism Fellows throughout the world; and The Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation will create an innovative on-line interactive legal resource to support and strengthen the social sector called LawForChange™. This unique project is funded by the Knight and Lemelson Foundations and the Kellogg Action Lab.

Chloe Holderness, Managing Director of the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation, said, "The social entrepreneurship movement is receiving increasing support and enhanced prominence around the world. The Foundation aims to be and remain the premier provider of legal services and resources to the global community of social change makers."

The Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation is a nonprofit affiliate of Lex Mundi, the world's leading association of independent law firms. By calling upon Lex Mundi's global network of 160 top-tier commercial law firms to provide legal assistance to social entrepreneurs on a pro bono basis, the Foundation strives to improve the lives of the world's poor and disenfranchised. Because Lex Mundi member firms are leading, full-service law firms, they have the experience and expertise to provide critically needed legal assistance to social entrepreneurs, thus helping them become successful agents of positive social change.

Examples of two of the Foundation's most recent projects, one with mothers2mothers and the other with Recycla Chile, highlight the pro bono work being done by Lex Mundi member firms and their lawyers and the impact they are having on the lives of the poor and disenfranchised around the globe.

Mothers2mothers (m2m) is an organization that offers an effective, sustainable model of care that provides education and support for pregnant women and new mothers in Africa living with HIV/AIDS. To date, lawyers from Richards, Layton & Finger, P. A., Lex Mundi's member firm for Delaware, and Bowman Gilfillan, Lex Mundi's member firm for South Africa, have provided invaluable pro bono legal support that is helping m2m achieve its great success.

David Torres, Director of Special Projects for m2m, has praised the fantastic working relationship developed with the teams from Richards, Layton & Finger and Bowman Gilfillan. "Overall, we cannot say enough about how valuable this help has been to our organization."

Recycla Chile (Recycla) is the first social entrepreneur organization in Latin America to develop a sustainable business model to address and properly recycle the growing amount of electronic waste in Chile.

Claro y Cia, Lex Mundi's member firm for Chile, has been critical in providing Recycla with much needed pro bono legal assistance. Recycla has also worked with Lex Mundi member firms Day Pitney LLP (New Jersey, US) and Hwang Mok Park, P. C. (Korea) to resolve other legal matters.

Commenting on the valuable legal support provided by Lex Mundi's member firms, Fernando Nilo, the Founder and CEO of Recycla, stated, "Our dreams of social and environmental change would not be possible without the support of the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation and the Lex Mundi member firms. With a partner like Lex Mundi, we can scale up and make progress in Chile and throughout Latin America."

The Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, headquartered in Washington, D. C. The Foundation is a matchmaker and does not practice law; instead, it identifies effective social entrepreneurs through referrals by its partners/collaborators. These collaborating organizations include the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, Skoll Foundation, Ashoka Innovators for the Public, Acumen Fund, Draper Richards Foundation, Global Fund for Children, Echoing Green, Lemelson Foundation and Mercy Corps.

The Foundation is unique in that there is no other global organization that is focused exclusively on providing pro bono legal services to social entrepreneurs. To learn more about the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation and its current projects, please visit www. lexmundiprobono. org.

Canoe and Kayak Murders Planned

Canoe and Kayak Murders Planned

No judge or jury can get out of the water in a capsized canoe or kayak without "automatic inflating sponsons" noted on the US Coast Guard website, in the National Boating Safety Advisory Council minutes, and on the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) website.

Panama City, FL (PRWEB) May 4, 2004

William Griswold, Chair of the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC), opened the International Boating and Water Safety Summit 3 days ago. The program focused on canoe and kayaks more than any other type of boat, due to the highest number of drowning deaths consistently achieved by these craft. Instead of saving lives in canoes and kayaks, Mr. Griswold joined NSBC members ACA Chambers, NASBLA Wilson and ACA Dillon to make canoes and kayaks as deadly as possible: No mandatory PFD use and no "automatic inflating sponsons" for canoes and kayaks.

Mr. Griswold and the NSBC kill children and adults by leaving them in the water to die in PFDs, when they are unable to keep their faces out of the water and drown. No judge or jury can get out of the water in a capsized canoe or kayak without "automatic inflating sponsons" noted on the US Coast Guard website, in the National Boating Safety Advisory Council minutes, and on the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) website.

The NSBC killed Dr. Warren Gould, a surgeon, and his friend Marty Dismukes, a businessman from Pensacola, Florida, floating together in PFDs near Pensacola, Florida. Florida waters are just as deadly as any cold water in the USA.

Mandatory PFD use and Automatic Sponsons for every canoe and kayak make drowning almost impossible. (Rate of body heat loss in water is 25 times the rate in air.) Victims are fishers, hunters, men, women and children. Already 32%-35% of dead canoe and kayak victims are wearing PFDs in years 2000-2002 (USCG BARD statistics). These murders must be examined in court, under oath.

Even very young children, in pictures on the links below, can rescue more than one drowning adult at the same time. The steadily shrinking canoe or kayak industry could use this radically improved safety to attract new enthusiasts. However, expensive and time-consuming ACA lessons that are so difficult that they provide no reliable means to get out of the water, generate much more money than one-time sales of canoes and kayaks, equipped with 5 second rescue sponsons.

US Coast Guard report 071-01: "Canoes and kayaks have by far the highest fatality rates per million hours of exposure (.42) as any other boat type". This USCG figure may be far too low, considering the death statistics of the Ford/Firestone scandal, over a decade, with many more vehicles, many more use/hours daily, and only 200 deaths.

Canoes and kayaks always have the largest drowning death numbers, despite PFD use of 32-35% by dead victims since 2000. "A total of 105 canoeists and kayakers drowned in 1998. Canoes and kayaks have the highest fatality rate of all boat types ñ double the rate of personal watercraft and 4 times higher than open motorboats." (Before the Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation of the U. S. House of Representatives, May 15, 2001, BOAT/U. S.)

National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, (NASBLA) Boating Accident Investigation, Reporting and Analysis Committee Minutes, April 16, 2002: "As for non-motorized boats, several committee members reported receiving email from Tim Ingram, who is rather severe, but he got some attention. Perhaps sponsons are a good alternative. Frank Disbrow commented that about 50% fatalities in Connecticut are canoes and kayaks."

The USCG National Boating Safety Advisory Council (NBSAC) also recognized Sponsons in the Minutes, 22 - 23 April 2002: "Mr. Tsuneyoshi had an observation then a question... He then asked where the ACA stood on automatic inflating sponsons for canoes."

ACA Yeager lied, referring to sponsons as "training wheels" when they obviously have no "training" function. Sponsons are "automatically inflating" in emergencies, concealed in 2 tiny containers on any canoe or kayak, above the waterline and almost un-noticeable except for the words "emergency rescue". Lightweight (1 lb.), inexpensive ($50 installed at the factory), sponsons are manufactured exactly like US Coast Guard approved CO2 gas-inflating PFDs, with back-up oral inflation. ACA Black also lied to the Attorney General of Florida only a few months previously, stating any kind of sponsons did not work. See this letter in the book on the link below.

Hundreds of wrongful deaths must be addressed in a lawsuit immediately, to stop these needless deaths. Depositions under oath can help families of victims who do not know that their loved ones were put to death using the most deadly canoes and kayaks possible and the most misleading instruction. Some families have been "signed off" on their legal rights, by insurance companies and others who wish to cover up this scandal.

The USCG helicopter was too late for 2 Girl Guides wearing PFDs in canoes May 31st, 2003. They were eleven years of age and one had previous rolling instruction in kayaks. These smart little girls were the victms of criminals.

The book "Canoe and Kayak Scam Kills 1000 Americans: US Coast Guard Studies Device to Save Victims" details the murders of 1000 US citizens in canoes and kayaks, over a 10 year period. (Just paste this book link into the address bar of your browser if necessary: http://www.1stBooks. com/bookview/16818 (http://www.1stBooks. com/bookview/16818)). US Coast Guard statistics (BARD) document that almost all of these victims died not on deadly whitewater rivers. To get out of the water and live they needed "automatic inflating sponsons", similar to the sponsons used by Professional Rescuers (police, fire departments etc.), to construct buoyant devices for tricky ice and water rescues.

The American Canoe Association has continually defrauded the US Coast Guard, who unwittingly funded the scam to leave US citizens dying in the water with no means of escape: http://www. bconnex. net/~timkayak/safety_1.html (http://www. bconnex. net/~timkayak/safety_1.html)

The American Canoe Association does not represent any US citizens in canoes and kayaks. It only murders them: "All national paddlesports organizations combined comprise just one percent of committed users and a tenth-percent of the total user group...To represent paddlers to regulatory agencies with legitimacy, an organization should represent at least 10 percent of the sport's committed users...The ACA is the paddlesport organization best placed...to protect paddlers from paddlecraft registration, required education and mandated PFD use...protecting our sport from needless government regulation." SFIMA Educational Session Sponsored by TheUseful Highlights Online Marketing Success of Fort Lauderdale’s Museum of Discovery and Science

SFIMA Educational Session Sponsored by TheUseful Highlights Online Marketing Success of Fort Lauderdale’s Museum of Discovery and Science

BOCA RATON, Florida, (PRWEB) March 21, 2006

The online marketing program that helped produce a dramatic turnaround at Fort Lauderdale’s Museum of Discovery and Science was the subject of an educational forum on March 9, 2006 at the South Florida Interactive Marketing Association (http://www. sfima. com/) (SFIA) meeting. The event was sponsored by TheUseful (http://www. theuseful. com/), a results-based Internet marketing services and technology company.

“Creating a dynamic, vibrant and user-friendly web site was a critical step in revamping both the image and the business performance of our museum,” said Marlene Janetos, Vice President of Communications and Marketing for the Museum of Discovery and Science (http://www. mods. org/), who delivered the presentation. “The decision to completely redesign our web site in order to make it more useful to a potential museum visitor was one of the best decisions and investments in time and resources we’ve made. Being a not-for-profit, we always need to find ways to provide better customer service and having a web site that can provide up-to-date information about our exhibits, films, programs and special events is critical to the business. As a result, over the past three years we’ve experienced net revenue surpluses, reversing a trend of annual operating losses by increasing sales of memberships, school field trips, group tours, camps, facility rental inquiries, ticket sales and other revenue-enhancing opportunities via our online marketing initiatives.“

After its redesign, the museum’s web site experienced a 15-fold increase in daily page views. Enabling e-commerce and other improvements to the site led to increased membership renewals and to a net revenue increase of 4,000 percent from the museum’s facility rental business. Opt-in e-mail marketing initiatives facilitated promotion of special events at the museum’s Omni theater and improved communications with museum members and the broader community.

Ms. Janetos’s presentation, entitled “Integrating Online Marketing: How to Increase Traffic, Drive New Membership, Ticket Sales and Event Bookings through Website Redesign and Viral Marketing,” was attended by more than 80 SFIMA members.

“Sponsoring an educational event that highlights the business value of well-designed and executed online marketing programs, such as the one conducted by the Museum of Discovery and Science, plays to the heritage and strength of TheUseful,” said Michael Mathews, Senior Vice President of Marketing at TheUseful. “Since our firm is in the business of helping companies succeed through the effective use of integrated online marketing campaigns, it’s important for us to shine a bright light on those organizations that have reaped the rewards of online marketing done right.”

TheUseful (http://www. theuseful. net) is a results-based Internet marketing services and technology company that delivers tens of millions of high-quality customers and qualified leads to the Fortune 1000 community each year – all on a pay-for-performance basis.

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) May 13, 2006

Twelve (12) week workshops are being held to unlock the secret laws of prosperity. Harold and Lynn Simmons owners of Julius’ Cafe at 543 Thurston Road will host summer classes Monday nights 6:00p-7:30 pm May 22-August 14 and Brooks Landing Beauty Supply proprietor, Everline Lee, will host classes Wednesday evenings at 759 Genesee Street – May 24-August 16th from 6:30p-8:00pm.

The 12 week workshops are specifically designed to encourage urbanites to go beyond the “glass ceiling”. It is for those who may have gone as far as they know how. They know there’s more but don’t know how to get there. "Students learn how to break-through limitations which are often times caused by a limited mind-set or a belief that one does not have the proper education," says Urban Wealth Founder, LeTicia Lee. “They receive the tools they need to get to the next level. We happen to believe they are only as limited as their imaginations”.

Participants are expected to take what they’ve learned and enhance their own personal lives, family relationships, respective communities and churches. “It’s beyond college”, says Lee, “It’s tried and true success tools collected from power moguls from centuries past. It works”.

Julius Café and Brooks Landing Beauty Supply owners are a sample of the success stories to be discussed. No previous experience or education is required. "Just bring an open mind, a desire to improve yourself, and know what you want, says Lee. We’ll supply the rest."

Class fees for the 12 week course are $75 in advance or $100 at the door. Course materials are included. Interested parties must reserve a seat in advance. Reservations are on a first come first serve basis. Classes are filling up quickly. Contact Julius Café at 279-9285 (Monday classes) or Brooks Landing Beauty Supply (Wednesday classes) 436-2030. Churches and business organizations are encouraged to schedule private workshops for their members.

(PRWEB) February 22, 2003

Silicon Valley, CA -- 02/25/2003 -- AquaFold, Inc today announced the latest version of Aqua Data Studio, it's universal database tool for building, managing and maintaining enterprise relational databases. Aqua Data Studio includes support for all major database platforms such as Oracle 8i/9i, IBM DB2, Sybase Adaptive Server, Microsoft SQL Server and the open source databases MySQL and PostgreSQL. Developed with the Java programming language, Aqua Data Studio supports all major operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Mac OSX, Solaris and the Linux operating system. Providing a universal database tool for all databases on all operating systems allows developers to choose their development platform of choice on a level playing field.

"Our choice to release Aqua Data Studio free for use without any download restrictions has kept us busy tracking how developers are using our tool" said John Haxor, Lead Architect of Aqua Data Studio. "We currently have users in over 90 countries." says John Haxor. Working in mixed operating system and database environments is proving to be the biggest pain point for database users. "I tested on SQL Server 2000, Oracle, Sybase ASE 12.5 and Postgres 7.3. Really nice. I like the ability to connect to open windows to multiple different databases at the same time especially!" said one developer. "This will be an interesting program to try out since we use Win2k (Windows 2000), Mac OS-X and Linux workstations, with Win2k SQL-Server servers and one Oracle 8 database on a central campus Sun server, with a planned Postgresql trial database due to be developed this spring." said another user.

Aqua Data Studio provides an integrated database environment with a single consistent interface to all major relational databases. This allows the database administrators and developer to tackle multiple tasks simultaneously from one application. Aqua Data Studio's sophisticated Query Analyzer allows users to work on database scripts with specific RDBMS syntax highlighting and auto-completion to develop and test scripts, including detailed client statistical information and multi-grid results. Its graphical browsing capabilities allow you to understand the structure and dependencies of the database schema at a click of a mouse and to easily browse and select database scripts. It also includes the ability to save your query results in many formats including HTML and XML.

Driven by the universal support for databases and operating systems, developers are switching to Aqua Data Studio as their primary database tool for designing and maintaining their databases. Given quick access to Aqua Data Studio and immediate productivity benefits, usage is growing virally with over 20,000 users and over 1,000 new users per week.

Availability and Pricing

Aqua Data Studio is available for immediate download at http://www. aquafold. com/downloads. html (http://www. aquafold. com/downloads. html). Weekly Reader Draws Upon Its Heritage To Address National Citizenship Education

Stamford, CT, March 8, 2000 -- Weekly Reader: The Largest Newspaper For Kids In The World ™ launches a new national citizenship education program this week that draws upon its heritage to address the lessons of citizenship at school and at home.

Weekly Reader Promote The Vote 2000 will help students become familiar with the candidates, gain an understanding of the issues and the election process, and learn about their rights and responsibilities as citizens.

The program includes editorial features, surveys, contests and quizzes. It also includes a full-color poster of all 43 presidents as well as a 32-page Guide to Election Handbook which provides information and activities to involve students in the election. The Weekly Reader Classroom Election Kit is made up of a Student Poll ballot card, posters, banners, buttons and a Election Resource Guide.

Weekly Reader students will play an active role in the election as they offer their top concerns to candidates and also decide on their top questions to ask the candidates. In July and August Weekly Reader student representatives will attend the Democratic and Republican Conventions.

The culminating event of Weekly Reader Promote The Vote 2000 is Weekly Reader's historic election poll which has been amazingly accurate. Beginning with the 1956 Eisenhower/Stevenson election, Weekly Reader schoolchildren have been the most accurate predictors of the presidential election. In fact, Weekly Reader kids in grades 4 and up are 100 percent accurate in predicting the election outcome.

"Since research shows that good habits begin early, it is vital that children learn about and participate in our democratic process so that they will be active citizens as adults," says Sandra F. Maccarone, Weekly Reader Editor In Chief.

She adds that "the fabric of our country is woven from Americans being active, responsible citizens. Yet, in one example of lessening civic participation, since the 1972 presidential election, when the voting age was lowered to 18, there has been almost a 20-percentage point decrease in voting among 18 to 24-year-olds, with only 32% going to the polls in 1996."

Weekly Reader's Election 2000 Promote the Vote program seeks to enfranchise young people, nurture them as citizens, and foster a genuine dialogue between the nation's young people and its most prominent political leaders. The ultimate goal is to enable and encourage students to make their own commitment to become active citizens.

In 1991 President Bush released America 2000, which includes as its third education goal: "By the year 2000: Every school in America will ensure that all students learn to use their minds well, so they may be prepared for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment in our modern economy."

Under the auspices of America 2000, the National Standards for Civics and Government, issued in November 1994, offer goals for what students should know and be able to do in the fields of civics and government. They state that children should learn not only about government institutions, but also about shared values and the qualities of leadership in America.

The Weekly Reader Corporation has always been committed to helping teachers further these vital objectives. Charles P. Davis founded the first Weekly Reader Corporation publication, Current Events, in 1902. Notice how America 2000 echoes Davis' first editorial of May 20, 1902: "Every issue of our newspaper will have "something important to tell to boys and girls. It will awaken their interest in the great world in which they live, give them a broader view of life, fit them for good citizenship, and help equip them for success."

We electors have an important constitutional power placed in our hands: we have a check upon two branches of the legislature, as each branch has upon the other two; the power I mean of electing at stated periods, one branch, which branch has the power of electing another. It becomes necessary to every subject then, to be in some degree a statesman: and to examine and judge for himself of the tendencies of political principles and measures.

John Adams
