Domestic Violence Victims Should Be Aware Of Protections Offered By Texas Law, Austin Family Lawyer Says

Domestic Violence Victims Should Be Aware Of Protections Offered By Texas Law, Austin Family Lawyer Says

Domestic violence civil protective orders can be an important first step for victims and their families in breaking free from the cycle of violence, says Austin, Texas family law attorney Holly Davis of Heselmeyer Zinda, PLLC.

Round Rock, TX (PRWEB) October 27, 2010

Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October should serve as a reminder of the protections available to domestic violence victims under Texas law, says Austin family lawyer Holly Davis.

“One of the most useful tools we have under Texas law to combat domestic violence is the civil protective order,” says Davis, whose law firm, Heselmeyer Zinda, PLLC, offers a website devoted to Texas family law issues, http://www. texas-family-lawyers. com.

“Domestic Violence Awareness Month offers the opportunity to provide more education and awareness about the civil protective order and how it can provide an important first step for domestic violence victims in breaking free from the cycle of violence,” she says.

According to Davis, a civil protective order can be secured on either an emergency or long-term basis. It is a court order that prohibits abusers from committing further acts of family violence, harassing or threatening victims at home or work (including by phone) or from going near children at home, school or a day-care center.

The order is intended to protect victims from “family violence,” which is defined as “any act by one member of a family or household intended to physically harm another member, serious threat of physical harm or the abuse of a child,” according to the Texas Attorney General’s website.

To receive a protective order, the victim and abuser must be related by blood or marriage (including former spouses), living together or formerly lived together or have a child in common.

Davis points out that a protective order can, under some circumstances, include orders that establish child custody, child support and spousal support and prohibit the transfer or destruction of property. Mandatory counseling may also be ordered.

An abuser who violates a civil protective order can be found to be in contempt of court and face a fine, jail time or both.

According to the U. S. Department of Justice, an estimated 1.3 million women and 835,000 men are physically assaulted by an intimate partner in the U. S. every year.

The Texas Council on Family Violence reports that 111 women died within the state last year as the result of domestic violence.

“Civil protective orders are among the progressive steps that we have taken to protect domestic violence victims and their families,” Davis says, “but we still have a long way to go. We have to remain vigilant in our efforts to eliminate domestic violence in Texas.”

Healthy Living Academies Announces Creation of Wellspring Community Programs, Launches First After-School Weight Loss Program

Healthy Living Academies Announces Creation of Wellspring Community Programs, Launches First After-School Weight Loss Program

New weight-loss program to partner with schools and communities across the country.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 7, 2007

Healthy Living Academies, the leading organization of treatment programs for overweight and obese children, adolescents and young adults, has taken the fight against childhood obesity into local communities. Today it announced the creation of Wellspring Community Programs, an after-school weight loss program for children and teens that partners with local schools and communities across the nation.

"Education and community leaders recognize the growing issue of childhood obesity and want to do something about it," commented Lev Kaye, Managing Director of Wellspring Community Programs. "By offering a proven immersion weight-loss program in an after-school environment, now these community leaders and local parents have a solution to help their kids."

Based upon the highly effective residential weight-loss program of Healthy Living's Academy of the Sierras boarding schools and Wellspring Camps, Wellspring Community Programs will reach thousands of students with this community weight loss program.

Wellspring's comprehensive and intensive approach fosters a sustainable, healthy lifestyle in students by combining diet management skills and physical activity with cognitive behavioral therapy. By focusing on behavioral change and extensive family outreach rather than solely education, Wellspring Community Programs aim to be the most effective outpatient weight-loss program for teens and young adults.

Wellspring's first after-school weight loss and fitness program is with The Woodlands, a community in north suburban Houston, Texas. Wellspring has the support of local medical and mental health professionals, as well as faith-based organizations in and around The Woodlands. By partnering with the Community Association of the Woodlands Department of Parks and Recreation, local adolescents will be given the opportunity to learn and adopt a new, healthy lifestyle.

"We recognize the physical and emotional toll being overweight has on the youth in our community," said Linda K. Hughes, Recreational Superintendent for The Woodlands Department of Parks and Recreation. "By working with Wellspring Community Programs, we can offer our local kids a real solution to improve their diet, activity, and self-confidence."

Healthy Living Academies is a division of Aspen Education Group, the nation's leading provider of education programs for struggling or underachieving young people. AddressX 1.1 Now Available from Snerdware

AddressX 1.1 Now Available from Snerdware

Major Update Now With Support for Exchange 2003 Forms-Based Authentication and More

SEATTLE, WA (PRWEB) March 8, 2004

Snerdware™ LLC today announced the release and immediate availability of AddressX™ 1.1, an update to its already successful AddressX utility. AddressX imports the contacts from the Global Address List (GAL) of a Microsoft Exchange server directly into the Mac OS X Address Book. AddressX compliments the Microsoft Exchange integration provided by Groupcal™ from Snerdware, which allows one to access and manage Exchange calendars from Apple iCal. Unlike Microsoft Entourage, with this release AddressX joins Groupcal in fully supporting Exchange 2003 Servers using Forms-Based Authentication. Finally, OS X users who must use Forms-Based Authentication have a working alternative to Outlook Web Access.

"AddressX 1.1 allows me to finally export my 25k corporate addresses to OS X's Address Book from our Exchange servers," said Mike DeVaney, Senior Research Scientist for Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. "I carry them with me on travel to use even when IÂ’m not connected to the Internet. I've been trying to accomplish this feat for years."

AddressX 1.1 includes several key enhancements, such as support for very large Global Address Lists, compatibility with NTLM, Kerberos, and Negotiate authentication schemes; and incremental updates that preserve group membership. Plus, version 1.1 adds an option to specify what information is added with a contact, the automatic placement of local contacts into a separate group, and optimization of the Address Book database once the update is complete.

"AddressX is an essential application for people using Mac OS X that need access to the Global Address List of their company’s Exchange server," said Jacob Swed, founder and CEO of Snerdware. "With robust support for the multitude of different Exchange configurations, including servers using Exchange 2003 Forms-Based Authentication, AddressX and Groupcal have allowed many users to integrate with Exchange that would otherwise be unable to with other existing solutions such as Microsoft Entourage.”

AddressX 1.1 requires Mac OS X 10.2.8 (or higher) and Microsoft Exchange 2000 or 2003 with the latest service packs and WebDAV enabled.

Simple, Powerful and User-Friendly

AddressX is an integration utility for Mac OS X and Microsoft Exchange, offering a simple, powerful, and user-friendly way to bring the contacts from a company's Global Address List on a Microsoft Exchange server directly into the OS X Address Book. With its straightforward interface contacts can be quickly downloaded and imported. Once imported, Exchange GAL contacts will look and act just like the other contacts in the Address Book. Access them seamlessly from applications like Mail, iCal, and many others. Best of all when used with Apple iSync, Exchange GAL contacts can now easily be made available on an iPod, Palm Pilot, cell phone, or any other iSync compatible device. Like Groupcal, AddressX was designed with both end users and IT departments in mind. AddressX does not require any software be installed on Exchange servers.

Pricing and Availability

AddressX 1.1 is currently available for only $25 USD per user license and discounted to $100 USD for a pack of 5 licenses. Larger volume pricing and site licenses are available. Snerdware also offers educational, government, and non-profit organizational discounts to qualifying parties.

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) November 11, 2004 -

– Absoft Corporation has announced a new Cluster Builder’s Kit version 2.0 which replaces its Beowulf Tool Kit v1.0. The Cluster Builder’s Kit (CBK) is used in conjunction with Absoft high performance compilers and debugging solutions and is designed to facilitate building and setting up cluster systems. Customers who purchase Absoft compilers for clusters receive the CBK at no additional charge. The software products included with the Cluster Builder’s Kit CD are the leading open source software packages commonly used in today’s cluster configurations. Absoft supplies source code, pre-built libraries and executables optimized for Absoft compilers as a service to customers.

Clusters are groups of computers based on commodity hardware, on a private system network, with open source software (Linux) infrastructure. The designer can improve performance proportionally with added machines. The commodity hardware can be any of a number of mass-market, stand-alone compute nodes as simple as two networked computers each running Linux and sharing a file system or as complex as 1024 nodes with a high-speed, low-latency network.

Major components of the CBK include:

-LAM/MPI v7.1 from Open Systems Laboratory (for message passing)

-MPICH v1.2 from Argonne National Laboratories

-ScaLAPACK from netlib (for parallel numerical analysis and linear algebra)

-Torque from supercluster. org (for batch scheduling)

The Adventure Continues for Nick Fluge at 50th Rose Cup Races

The Adventure Continues for Nick Fluge at 50th Rose Cup Races

Fans follow live race action exclusively on Facebook and Twitter all weekend!

Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) June 9, 2010

The saga of Fluge Global Adventures (FGA), one of the northwest's most interesting and inspiring outdoor endeavors, starts a new chapter this weekend at the 50th Annual Rose Cup Races at Portland International Raceway.

Fluge is seeking the Rose Cup feature race victory in an entirely new car; a Jack Roush-modified Ford Mustang.

This Mustang been dubbed "Project Tarzan" and it won three consecutive titles in the famous Marlboro GT de las Americas, a championship held in South, Central America and the Caribbean. The one-of-a kind Tarzan was recently rebuilt from the ground up by famed NASCAR legend Jack Roush.

"We now have five track records in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) racing and I'd like to add a sixth this weekend," Fluge explained, "and the only thing that would make me happier is winning the Rose Cup title.

"We've have had mechanical problems this year in the early going, but were leading in our two regional/national races when we broke. So, if we can beat the reliability problem I know we're plenty fast enough to make it exciting," Fluge added.

Fluge Global Adventures, the brainchild of Portland, Ore.'s Nick Fluge, burst upon the sports scene in 2007 by winning the famous amateur Rose Cup race. He followed that with Oregon Region SCCA championships in the ITE classification in '07 and '08, and in GT1 in '09.

The 45-minute long feature race takes the green flag Sunday at 3:00 p. m. A complete race schedule and Spotters Guide can be found in the June issue of the Loud Pedal magazine, www. oregonscca. com/media-library/documents/loudpedal/pdf/2010june. pdf (http://www. oregonscca. com/media-library/documents/loudpedal/pdf/2010june. pdf)

Live Race Action Courtesy of FGA

Race fans at Portland International Raceway and across the nation can follow all the race action Saturday and Sunday via Twitter and Facebook, courtesy of Fluge Global Adventures. Fans can access the Oregon Region Sports Car Club of America Facebook page at http://www. facebook. com/orscca (http://www. facebook. com/orscca) and on Twitter at http://twitter. com/orscca (http://twitter. com/orscca).

About Fluge Global Adventures:

Several years ago, Fluge's journey through life took new turns, leading him away from the realm of eCommerce development, to new arenas that included sitting in the seat of SCCA super-cars and playing next to Las Vegas card sharks at the World Series of Poker.

He's crossed the country in the "Cannonball Run," a rally/road race from New York's Central Park to Los Angeles. Two FGA teams tackled a serious hike to Base Camp at Mt. Everest in Nepal in 2007, and also explored Loch Ness in Scotland (returning without the monster). A full-scale onslaught on the World Series of Poker in 2006 through 2009 took Team FGA "all in - many times!"

An Olympic Length Triathlon, the STP 200 Mile Cycle Championship and the "Magical, Digital, Mystery Stationary Bike Tour" occupied team members for much of 2008.

In 2009, a "final four table" finish in the World Poker Challenge spring event and lapping the field in an SCCA National race were part of a landmark year that included more adventures, such as exposing the world to art and pie at the Russell Street Gallery and Pie Diner. The "One World - Infinite Adventures" for local elementary students was one of 2009's most exciting FGA adventures.

Fluge then set his sites on racing the same Derhaag Corvette that Portland's Todd Harris had piloted to first and second place finishes in the 2007 and 2008 Rose Cup feature races at Portland International Raceway (PIR).

Fluge scored three firsts, a second and a third place finish in SCCA Regional and National race events on his way to the GT1 class points lead, and entered the same car in last year's professional Trans-Am race at PIR.

For 2010, racing isn't the only adventure Fluge is organizing. He is currently assembling a team of 10 FGA members to pull a 50,000-pound firetruck for charity, and is considering either an Amityville Horror or Lizzie Borden overnighter without power or electricity. He also recently completed a Silversmithing Adventure in Argentina and a Photography and Art Adventure in France and Oregon,

On April 25, Nicole Wright from the London FGA team represented a children's charity and finished the London Marathon, and just last month Fluge Global Adventures was represented by a team of 5th graders from Oregon at the Destination ImagiNation Global Finals. They finished fifth out of 80 teams from around the world.

Fluge hopes to return to France this September to further his artistic education and instruction, expects to be back in South America later in the fall for Python hunting in the Amazon, and is planning a duel in Death Valley.

For more information on these adventures, please visit www. flugeglobaladventures. com.

Spring Multi-College Internet Radio Music Festival to be Broadcast Free on the iPhone® and iTunes® Radio

Spring Multi-College Internet Radio Music Festival to be Broadcast Free on the iPhone® and iTunes® Radio

A dozen colleges and universities will be showcasing hot, local bands on respective campuses -- sharing content and broadcasting among member Internet stations on the IBS Student Radio Network by Backbone. April 24-25, 2009

Worcester, MA (PRWEB) April 20, 2009

Back by popular demand, the IBS Palooza Student Music Festival is coming from a college radio station near you. This Internet rock fest is only the second installment of what promises to become an institution in the nationwide college music scene. Originally intended as an annual fall music festival, the first Palooza held last September was so successful that IBS Student Radio Network member schools decided to hold the nationwide, multiple venue festival again this month. This Spring festival will be available on the free College Radio Tuner app for the iPhone, as well as on iTunes Radio.

This month's two-day weekend event is another step in establishing Internet radio as a legitimate entertainment medium, as the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System's IBS Student Radio Network by Backbone (IBS-SRN) (http://www. studentradionetwork. org (http://www. studentradionetwork. org)) launches the Web's second live music festival, called "Spring IBS-Palooza". The increased sophistication of student radio clubs combined with advances in Internet broadcasting technology now allows multiple stations to digitally share and play each other's live content and provide valuable exposure to emerging local artists from around the world. The Spring IBS-Palooza will be available on the Internet from each participating school's website, as well at WIBS and Apple's iTunes Radio, College Radio category, April 24-25, 2009. The College Radio Tuner app can be downloaded free through http://www. studentradionetwork. org/tuner/ (http://www. studentradionetwork. org/tuner/).

Last fall's inaugural IBS Palooza Festival successfully broke new ground in the areas of both education and entertainment technology, including coordinating multiple live stations all syndicating their live content on a real-time basis using peer-sharing radio automation software. As the only live multi-venue music festival created for the Internet, it harnesses the technologies of both Apple and Backbone. com to enable live syndication of streaming content among several stations simultaneously. As an educational project, it opens up the student radio experience to a broader, more exciting arena of involvement. Together, with the added power and reach of the iPhone, students and organizations will use this Spring weekend to attract even more support for their stations, hone their live event broadcasting skills and processes, and most importantly, have fun.

The Festival also aims to help local, emerging artists gain wider exposure through student radio and the Internet. Most bands will be performing live at their host school's campus while live on the air, and some schools will combine their efforts to create an even larger live concert event. During non-concert hours, stations will be able to air live music from other time zones or use their Mac-driven Backbone Radio automation software to run highlights of Palooza from their station or syndicated from any participating school.

The following is a partial list of stations scheduled to participate:
University of Connecticut (WHUS)
NEIA New England Institute of Art, Boston
Simmons College, Boston http://www. simmons. edu/ (http://www. simmons. edu/)
Coastal Carolina University, Conway, SC (WCCU)
Long Island University, Brooklyn (WLIU-BK)
Roosevelt University, Chicago (WRBC "The Blaze")
Goucher College Student Radio, Baltimore
Towson University, Baltimore (XTSR)
SUNY Stony Brook, NY (WUSB)
Oklahoma State University (KXZY)
Central Methodist University, Fayette, MO

About The College Radio Tuner (http://itunes. apple. com/WebObjects/MZStore. woa/wa/viewSoftware? id=303341290&mt=8 (http://itunes. apple. com/WebObjects/MZStore. woa/wa/viewSoftware? id=303341290&mt=8))
The free College Radio Tuner application for the iPhone allows a worldwide mobile audience to find and listen to cutting edge, student-run Internet radio stations, all of which are members of IBS. It allows the user to scroll easily through a list of stations, find and click to play live radio right on the iPhone or iPod touch, whether connected via WiFi, 3G or Edge networks. The Tuner automatically searches for and adds new stations as they become available.

About IBS-SRN (http://www. studentradionetwork. org (http://www. studentradionetwork. org))
In 2007, Backbone Networks Corporation, in cooperation with the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS), launched what is believed to be the first true Internet radio network, one that specifically aims to enhance the student radio experience.. The IBS Student Radio Network enables student operated stations to syndicate live and produced programming among member stations, as well as automatically access a vast amount of royalty-free programming from worldwide third-party sources.

This formative network is establishing cooperative relationships with content providers to bring its member stations vast collections of news feeds, royalty-free music from emerging and alternative independent artists, and other programming that will be available only to stations on the Network. In addition, member stations are able to draw programming from one another through shared server databases, as well as have access to each other's live feeds, including remote sporting events and concerts.

In addition to Backbone Radio's powerful automation and management software, the IBS-SRN builds upon (Apple's QuickTime™) MPEG-4 AAC, the worldwide streaming standard, as its streaming format. Conforming to this standard not only ensures universal acceptance across all listening platforms, but it also enables each school to partner with the Apple's iTunes store in preparing material, including artist/album annotation and cover art images that display to listeners' free QuickTime players. Select IBS-SRN stations are available on iTunes' College Radio category.

About IBS (http://www. ibsradio. org/ (http://www. ibsradio. org/))
The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) is a nonprofit association of mostly student-staffed radio stations based at schools and colleges across the country. Over 1,000 IBS member stations operate all types of facilities including Internet - Webcasting, closed-circuit, AM carrier-current, cable radio, FCC-licensed FM, LPFM and AM stations.

About Backbone (http://backbone. com (http://backbone. com))
Founded in 1990, Backbone Networks Corporation helps organizations create, automate and stream their own Internet radio stations. Backbone Networks developed the Internet radio automation (http://www. backbone. com/create-station. html (http://www. backbone. com/create-station. html)) and streaming software used in the IBS Student Radio Network. In addition, Backbone hosts the Network servers and provides streaming bandwidth for all IBS-SRN member stations. Backbone also developed the College Radio Tuner app for the iPhone.

Backbone has its roots in developing television and radio software, especially content production and delivery applications. Its founders are pioneers in developing technology for the broadcasting industry. They have supplied software and systems for some of the highest profile broadcasters and their events.

Coffee Kids Inc. Announce Downloads For Dollars

Coffee Kids Inc. Announce Downloads For Dollars

Podcaster designs exciting new fundraising program partnering musicians with noted charities! Downloads For Dollars aims to rewrite the annals of both charitable giving and music promotion.

(PRWEB) January 22, 2007

Coffee Kids Inc. proudly announces "Downloads for Dollars," in partnership with DJ Come of Age and Markus Ekholm. DJ Come of Age and Markus Ekholm, a world-renowned production duo, have pledged to donate fifty percent of the revenues from Internet downloads of their compilation "Downloads For Dollars-Volume One". This innovative project features twelve wonderful artists united in support of Coffee Kids. Available only as a digital release, the album can be found on all digital stores such as iTunes, MSN Music, Napster, and others.

Music lovers everywhere can now support Coffee Kids simply by downloading a single track or full album. "Downloads For Dollars-Volume One" is a soulful amalgamation of pop, soul, jazz, and mellow instrumentals. It features Slowmo, Stico Von Drake, Marcel Penn, Emily Ivari, Severin 24, Sean Mooney, Hassanah, Kathy Compton, Michael Annotti, and Wendisue. "We wanted to use the both the global reach and appeal of beautiful music to bring attention to worthy causes. The aspect of downloads fully grasps the grassroots of society and thus allows everyone to contribute in support of the artists and Coffee Kids" (DJ Come of Age).

In the wake of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, many musicians donated proceeds from album sales to victims of this catastrophe. The healing power of music came to the forefront to help those in need. The sincerity of collective artistic efforts was duly noted. What effect would music have on society if it were continually used to garner attention for those in need? In a digital society, shouldn't digital sales play a major role in fundraising? "Downloads For Dollars" hopes to answer these questions. The program is a revolutionary idea partnering stellar independent musicians with established non-profit organizations while addressing a dual purpose: (1) Give deserving artists much needed recognition and a viable outlet to sell their music (2) Provide a continuous opportunity for non-profit organizations to raise money for their stated aims.

Created DJ Come of Age and Markus Ekholm, this DJ/producer combo has garnered international acclaim with their podcast "Soul Music of the World" and a noted catalog of over 200 songs, beats, and graphic designs. For more information on DJ Come of Age and Slowmo visit http://djcoa. libsyn. com (http://djcoa. libsyn. com) and www. slow-b. com.

COFFEE KIDS has helped thousands of children, women, and men in coffee-producing regions in Mexico and Central America to improve the quality of their lives and build more sustainable communities. Founded by coffee roaster Bill Fishbein in 1988, Coffee Kids is an international nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Coffee Kids staff works with local non-governmental community organizations in Latin America to create education, health-care, training, and microenterprise programs for coffee farmers and their families. Our projects respect the cultural integrity of our local partners, foster independence, and promote long-term self-sufficiency.

What is Coffee Kids' mission?

To improve the quality of life for children and families who live in coffee-growing communities around the world.

Who founded Coffee Kids and when?

Coffee Kids was founded in 1988 by Bill Fishbein, the owner of Coffee Exchange, a specialty coffee roaster and retailer in Providence, RI. That year, Bill had traveled to Guatemala and saw first-hand the connection between coffee farming and poverty. He created Coffee Kids as a way for coffee businesses and coffee consumers to give something back to the families who grow coffee.

Jenzabar Supports Successful ERP Adoption at Fifty Higher Education Institutions

Jenzabar Supports Successful ERP Adoption at Fifty Higher Education Institutions

Higher education institutions turned to Jenzabar in 2009 for new software and effective implementations

Boston, MA (Vocus) January 20, 2010

Jenzabar, Inc. (http://www. jenzabar. com), a leading provider of software, services and strategies for higher education, announced today that 50 higher education institutions implemented, upgraded or purchased Jenzabar software over the course of 2009. The software designed exclusively for higher education will help these institutions optimize business processes and improve overall enrollment, retention, and advancement success.

The 2009 implementations and purchases included institutions that have adopted the Jenzabar EX and Jenzabar CX enterprise resource planning systems, Constituent Relationship Modules, Jenzabar’s Internet Campus Solution, and Jenzabar’s Non-Traditional System. Institutions that purchased Jenzabar software during 2009 included Carthage College, Hesston College, Mid-America Christian University, Midland Lutheran College, Quincy College, Sitting Bull College, Springfield College, and Trine University.

This year 23 higher education institutions implemented Jenzabar software. These included Eastern Mennonite University, located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, which implemented Jenzabar EX and Jenzabar’s Internet Campus Solution, and the system integration allows the institution to satisfy the needs of candidates, students, alumni, and donors on many levels.

“The Jenzabar team continuously looked at the implementation roadmap and evaluated possible areas that needed adjustments along the way,” said Jack Rutt, Director of Information Systems at Eastern Mennonite University. “If you follow the Jenzabar plan you will have a successful implementation.”

Although Jenzabar continues to support and maintain all of its product lines, 17 institutions chose to upgrade their Jenzabar legacy administrative systems to the company’s flagship enterprise resource planning systems in order to deliver a higher level of constituent service to faculty, students and staff. For example, the Maine Community College System, a comprehensive two-year public college system, upgraded to the Jenzabar EX ERP solution. The seven Community Colleges in the system include Central Maine, Eastern Maine, Kennebec Valley, Northern Maine, Southern Maine, Washington County, and York County.

“It is essential for the Maine Community College System to have a central and integrated administrative solution where each of the seven colleges can access, share and report on data,” said Dave Daigler, Chief Financial Officer at Maine Community College System. “Upgrading to Jenzabar EX was the most cost-effective and comprehensive choice to help us improve efficiency and streamline information across colleges.”

Jenzabar’s new clients in 2009 included Hofstra University, Rutgers University Continuing Education, and Rice University, which each chose Jenzabar’s Non-Traditional System, a software solution that supports adult learning and continuing education. In addition, Jenzabar continues to expand its presence in the Caribbean and Latin American market, with the Universidad Catolica Tecnologica del Cibao and University of Trinidad and Tobago purchasing Jenzabar EX during 2009.

“Higher education institutions continue to closely watch their spending, yet offices across campuses are being asked to do more with less,” said Robert A. Maginn, Jr., Jenzabar Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Jenzabar’s tailored approach, strategy-led implementations, fully-integrated technologies, and cost-effective solutions will keep future costs down and help drive institutional success.”

ICONECT Addresses eDiscovery Project Budgeting Best Practices at Computer Forensics Show

Presentation Ideal for Security, Law Enforcement and All Levels of Government to Better Manage eDiscovery Projects, Accurately Determine Project Timelines and Avoid Costly Overruns

Los Angeles, CA (Vocus) October 27, 2010

iCONECT Development LLC, a world leader in litigation support and collaboration software, today announced that the company will address best practices in eDiscovery project budgeting at next week’s Computer Forensics Show in San Francisco. Victoria Edelman, J. D., director of training for iCONECT, will present a session entitled “E-Discovery Project Budgeting,” detailing how to manage expectations, accurately determine times and avoid costly overruns for eDiscovery projects.

Ideal for security, law enforcement and government attendees who are involved in risk management or litigation support, the session will cover strategies to identify what basic information to collect to prepare an eDiscovery project budget, determine what tools or processes will be needed for the project, run “what if” scenarios to determine return on investment (ROI) and eliminate guesswork on project costs.

“When hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars are at stake in performing legal review, it is critical that risk-management and litigation-support professionals determine the costs associated with each phase of eDiscovery,” said Edelman. “Project timelines are vital, too, and we will discuss how to streamline project workflow, quickly and easily process terabytes of legal-review data, collaborate across multiple review entities, and ensure that the whole process remains secure and in a single chain of custody.”

Edelman’s session will take place Monday, November 1st at 3:45-5:00pm. Session attendees can earn CLE (Continuing Legal Education) credits for participating in the presentation. Demonstrations of the latest version of the company’s core product nXT 830 can be seen at iCONECT’s booth #112.

Attendees can receive a complimentary pass to the show valued at $595 from iCONECT by visiting http://www. iconect. com/cfs_2010/.

Aurora Organic Dairy Launches Initiative to Reduce Its Carbon Footprint Through First Grant Funded by Aurora Organic Dairy Foundation: Partnership with Center for Sustainable Systems at University of Michigan Will Identify Ways to Increase Energy Efficiency and Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions; Findings to be Shared with Organic Agriculture Community

Aurora Organic Dairy, a leading U. S. provider of high-quality, private-label organic milk and butter, today announced a major initiative with the University of Michigan to measure and reduce its carbon footprint across the entire product lifecycle, from cattle feed to cartons in retail dairy cases. This research is believed to be the most comprehensive carbon emissions reduction initiative undertaken in the organic dairy industry, and will be funded by the newly established Aurora Organic Dairy Foundation.

BOULDER, Colo. (PRWEB) January 8, 2008

Also announced today, the Aurora Organic Dairy Foundation is a Colorado-based not-for-profit organization that will fund research, market-development initiatives and community-building activities benefitting organic agriculture, including farmers, processors, consumers, animals and the environment.

The Foundation's first grant of more than $320,000 will fund a long-term research partnership with the Center for Sustainable Systems at the University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources and Environment. With the proceeds of the grant, the center will conduct lifecycle and sustainability research at Aurora Organic Dairy's facilities, including its state-of-the-art High Plains organic dairy farm in Colorado and its Coldwater organic dairy farms in Texas.

Led by associate professor Gregory Keoleian, Ph. D., and Martin Heller, Ph. D., the research initially will focus on developing an energy and carbon footprint model, creating a baseline against which Aurora Organic can make improvements in its sustainability performance.

The center will examine the entire product lifecycle from "seed to shelf," including important measures such as growing pasture and cattle feed, manufacturing, and product distribution to retail customers. The study will identify those processes that contribute the greatest environmental impacts, focused primarily on total energy consumption and carbon emissions. In Phase II, the center will make recommendations for improving Aurora Organic's sustainability performance, including energy supply and demand options, non fuel-related carbon emissions, and energy and greenhouse gasses from material resources such as packaging.

"Aurora Organic Dairy is providing the Center for Sustainable Systems with an excellent opportunity to apply our research expertise and address real challenges faced by organic agriculture producers," said Dr. Keoleian, CSS co-director and research team leader. "We're grateful for this opportunity and look forward to sharing our findings and recommendations with the organic agriculture community to help drive meaningful change in energy consumption and carbon emissions patterns resulting from organic farming."

"This grant from the Aurora Organic Dairy Foundation to the University of Michigan is the first of many that will help fund continued research into development of organic best practices, with a strong emphasis on sustainability," said Mark Retzloff, President and Chief Organic Officer of Aurora Organic Dairy. "Our goal is to evaluate what we do on our farms and throughout our supply chain, and to develop tools for guiding our company and enhancing our sustainability performance. We intend to learn as much as we can about how to make organic agriculture even more sustainable. Our goal is to share what we learn with our network of more than 120 family farmers and the organic agriculture community as a whole."

A Revolution in Monitoring - The Sensor Notification Matrix

A Revolution in Monitoring - The Sensor Notification Matrix

AKCP, the world's leader in environmental and security monitoring, today announced the revolutionary Sensor Notification Matrix. A major innovation, the Sensor Notification Matrix is available in all AKCP Linux-based products (cameraProbe8 and sensorProbe8Linux series).

Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) September 20, 2005

AKCP, the world's leader in environmental and security monitoring, today announced the revolutionary Sensor Notification Matrix. A major innovation, the Sensor Notification Matrix is available in all AKCP Linux-based products (cameraProbe8 and sensorProbe8Linux series).

Never before has such versatility been available to protect assets and infrastructure. Send alerts via Email, SNMP trap, SMS, MMS, Text to Speech, Telephone calls and more. The Sensor Notification Matrix can be customized by users to transmit unique notification messages. With the Sensor Notification Matrix, the flexibility of notification for individual sensors on the sensorProbe8Linux-X60, sensorProbe8Linux, sensorProbe8Linux-X20 and cameraProbe8 is substantially increased.

Play wav file Sound alarms or verbalized custom messages through the built-in and external speakers. Use an optional external modem, telephone to targeted persons and notify them with customized text-to-speech. Alternatively, create your own personal scripts, which can be run whenever specific events arise. If the Ethernet is down, the modem can be used to dial into an ISP and deliver Emails and traps.

For Email, SMS, MMS, Speech, and Telephone calls, the notification message can be completely customized by users. There are also pre-defined "macros" which provide information from the system, and may be used to build up a meaningful message. Some available macros are sensor type, sensor description, sensor status, IP address, and system date and time.

Each individual sensor may have different settings which can execute any alarm. Alarms can also be escalated so that different people are notified with different messages. For example, an e-mail alarm for a temperature sensor is sent to the maintenance staff, while an alarm from the security sensor will be telephoned to the security officer. Or, the alert for a DC voltage sensor is sent via SNMP trap whereas the alert for a dry contact on another port is sent via both e-mail and SNMP trap. That is just part of what the Sensor Notification Matrix is capable of.

The configuration can even be modified per sensor status. For instance, the SMS notification settings for humidity sensor

three can use one set of phone numbers for High Warning and another set of phone numbers for High Critical status. Expensive MMS and SMS messages can be limited depending on the sensor type, the severity status of the sensor, the time of day, the duration of the error, the day of week. SMS and MMS messages can be sent with an optional external mobile phone allowing messages to be sent when the Ethernet is down or when the modem cannot dial out.

To protect against excessive alerts there are filter configurations on every type of notification, where the alarm can delayed for a certain period of time before being sent out. There is also an option to limit notifications in accordance with specific time of day and day of week. The AKCP designed graphical interface makes time and date filter setting very easy.

The cameraProbe8 includes an integrated CCD camera and supports up to 3 additional external analog security cameras. The sensorProbe8Linux allows up to 4 additional external analog security cameras. Pictures can be recorded whenever a sensor event occurs. The Sensor Notification Matrix allows each sensor event to be customized so that the camera and the number of pictures can be configured. For example, whenever the security sensor indicates that the front door has been opened a recording for 2 seconds prior to the event and then for 5 seconds after the event will be recorded. When the motion detector indicates that someone is in the main computer room a single picture is recorded, but only if that motion occurs at night or on the weekend.

Pictures may be stored in the internal flash disk drive or an unlimited number of pictures may be automatically saved to an external server. Pictures from any or all of the 4 cameras may be attached to an email or MMS message.

Up to 8 optional external relays or included control outputs can be configured to control external equipment. For example, a motion detector can turn on a light in a computer room. The light will stay on for 5 minutes after the event occurs if requested.

The internal speaker and optional external speakers can be made to play prerecorded wav files or text to voice messages. In one example the sound that is played when temperature sensor 8 goes to high warning can be a different sound file, played at a different volume when the sensor goes to high critical. Then when temperature sensor 7 goes to high warning a text to voice message can be played that tells the operator send a maintenance crew to the computer room.

The Sensor Notification Matrix is available for free via a firmware update to existing AKCP customers, and is standard for all new sales. All AKCP Linux based products include all software, wall and rack mount brackets, and a sensorRemote with 1,000 foot range dual temperature and humidity sensor. The sensorProbe8Linux starts at $1,395. The cameraProbe8, which includes a high quality SONY CCD pan and tilt camera is available now at $1,795.

About cameraProbe8 and sensorProbe8Linux

The cameraProbe8 and sensorProbe8Linux are the premier environmental and security monitoring devices. The cameraProbe8 integrates a SONY CCD camera which is mounted on a precision stepper motor with the ability to pan and tilt. Both systems support connection with external security cameras. They include full Linux. Hardware boasts a 32-bit ARM processor, 128 Megabytes of Flash and 64 Megabytes of SDRAM along with a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet and 2 serial ports. Software utilities include many applications; such as Apache web server, Bash, Perl, Vi, Telnet, PHP, Email, Nagios, and RRDTool, Video Conferencing. The cameraProbe8 and sensorProbe8Linux supports full SNMP functionality, relying on our 24 years of SNMP monitoring experience.

New Program to Produce 1,200 Propane Autogas Vehicles and 17 Refueling Stations in Southeast

New Program to Produce 1,200 Propane Autogas Vehicles and 17 Refueling Stations in Southeast

With $8.6 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program, coordinated by Alliance AutoGas and supported by the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), will enhance energy security, promote a domestic alternative fuel, and create a cleaner environment by converting gasoline-powered vehicles to run on propane and by installing at least 17 propane refueling stations across nine southeast states.

Washington (Vocus) April 24, 2010

A new program to build propane refueling stations and convert 1,200 vehicles to propane kicked off with a meeting at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., last weekend.

Propane, when it is used to run on-road vehicles, is known worldwide as autogas.

Virginia Clean Cities, part of the nationwide network of Clean Cities Coalitions working to reduce petroleum consumption, and James Madison University will act as project managers. Alliance AutoGas’ founding partners, Blossman Gas and American Alternative Fuel, and certified conversion partners, will perform the vehicle conversions and provide both public and private fueling infrastructure. Vehicles in public and private fleets, including taxis, limousines, and vans, will be converted to run on propane.

"We are encouraged that this grant provides an opportunity to showcase the viability of autogas and its benefits," said Stuart Weidie, president of Alliance AutoGas. "Autogas is recognized as the number one alternative fuel worldwide. It's almost entirely domestically produced and is available right here, right now."

The vehicles converted under this program are projected to displace more than 15 million gallons of gasoline over four years, and since propane vehicles experience significantly lower emissions than gasoline and diesel vehicles, the project will reduce harmful emissions. Nearly 90 percent of propane supplies are produced in the United States, and 7 percent come from Canada.

“The rollout of this Alliance AutoGas project will result in the wider use of propane vehicles, which will help us reach our county’s environmental and national energy security goals,” said Brian Feehan, vice president of PERC.

The Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program will track the results of the conversions, including the number of gasoline gallons displaced and greenhouse gas emissions avoided. A comprehensive public website will be launched later in 2010 to display the details of the project.

Future road shows funded by PERC will offer state fleet and transportation managers the chance to test-drive some of these new propane-fueled vehicles.

PERC promotes the safe and efficient use of propane as an energy fuel for its cost-effectiveness, efficiency and productivity, reliability, portability, and environmental friendliness. For more information about PERC and its programs, please visit http://www. propanecouncil. org. For more information about Alliance AutoGas, please visit http://www. allianceautogas. com.

The Propane Education & Research Council was authorized by the U. S. Congress with the passage of Public Law 104-284, the Propane Education & Research Act (PERA), signed into law on October 11, 1996. The mission of the Propane Education & Research Council is to promote the safe, efficient use of odorized propane gas as a preferred energy source.
