Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) December 17, 2006

Students and staff at Pima Medical Institute, 370 Printers Parkway in Colorado Springs, are springing into action by collecting new toys for homeless children, as well as children at TESSA, an organization serving victims of domestic violence. This year, Pima also invites the public to participate in the toy drive by dropping off a new, unwrapped present at the career college.

"Most of us have fond memories of being surrounded by friends and family during the holiday, as well as the joy of opening a special toy on Christmas," said Karen McGrath, campus director of the Colorado Springs career campus. "However, there are many children who are lacking in even the basic necessities. We hope to help as many children as possible to have a happy holiday, and if anyone in the community wants to help by dropping off a new, unwrapped toy at our campus, we would be happy to make sure it finds its way to a deserving boy or girl."

PMI is one of the premier medical career colleges in the western United States. The privately owned, accredited school provides students with a well-rounded education embracing theoretical classroom studies, as well as on-site training in allied health facilities within the community. This gives the student the opportunity to function in a working environment.

PMI has been serving students since 1972, with campuses in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Mesa and Tucson, AZ; Chula Vista, CA; Seattle and Renton, WA; Las Vegas, NV; as well as Colorado Springs and Denver. Get Wild During Wolf Awareness Week (October 17-23, 2004)

Get Wild During Wolf Awareness Week (October 17-23, 2004)

During Wolf Awareness Week (October 17-23) people are encouraged to “get wild” and attend the celebrations and educational programs held across the United States. Animal behaviorist and author, Diana L. Guerrero states, "Americans should be proud of our national heritage and the diverse species this country supports. Efforts such as Wolf Awareness Week can instill a sense of ownership and participation of the natural world. Our fast paced lives can disconnect us from nature, but personal involvement brings matters home--and each person’s involvement can really make a difference."

(PRWEB) October 17, 2004

Wolf recovery programs have made good progress, but many challenges remain. During Wolf Awareness Week (October 17-23) people are encouraged to “get wild” and attend the celebrations and educational programs held across the United States to call attention to the important predator.

Wolves historically inhabited most of the lower 48 states, until government extermination programs and unrestricted hunting killed almost all of them by the early 1900s. Wolf populations have only recently started to recover in Greater Yellowstone, the Northern Rockies, the Great Lakes and the Southwest regions of the country.

Diana L. Guerrero, an animal behaviorist said, “Wolves have been brought back from the brink of extinction but they still inhabit only a small portion of their original range. There are many challenges facing this large predator including illegal hunting, habitat encroachment and restriction, and hostile state management. Providing close encounters with these creatures helps educate people about their vital role in the environment, we hope that wolves will continue to propagate and thrive."

In her book, “What Animals Can Teach Us about Spirituality: Inspiring Lessons of Wild and Tame Creatures,” Guerrero writes, “ The subject of myths and mysticism, the wolf is a creature who sparked fear and hatred in the hearts of humans, generated stories and folklore, and ultimately emerged as a resilient icon of our link to nature despite opposition from humankind along the way..."

Defenders of Wildlife, founded in 1947, is one of the leading organizations working for the conservation of wolves and other predators. Advocates from the group conduct extensive public education programs on how to coexist with wolves. Staff members travel across the country hosting seminars and discussion programs on wolf behavior and human/wolf interactions. Their goal is to raise public awareness about the important role wolves play in the environment.

“When there are healthy populations of predators, the ecosystem and other living creatures within it thrive. Nature balances itself out. So, predators are known as ‘flagship species’ since they alert and motivate people to support conservation efforts. The conservation efforts and attention sparked from concern about the larger predators ultimately leads to the healing and recovery of the damaged environments." Guerrero stated.

Economic incentives promote the protection of endangered species on private lands. Two such programs were pioneered by Defenders of Wildlife. The Bailey Wildlife Foundation Wolf Compensation Trust pays livestock owners for losses to wolf predation and is considered to be an important factor on reintroduction programs of wolves to Yellowstone National Park and the northern Rockies. The Bailey Wildlife Foundation Proactive Carnivore Conservation Fund supports practical projects that reduce conflicts between predators and landowners.

Guerrero continued, "Americans should be proud of our national heritage and the diverse species this country supports. Efforts such as Wolf Awareness Week can instill a sense of ownership and participation in the conservation of the natural world. Our fast paced lives can disconnect us from nature, but personal involvement brings matters home--and each personÂ’s involvement can really make a difference."

Guerrero encourages readers to celebrate Wolf Awareness Week. Defenders of Wildlife and other wildlife organizations are sponsoring regional events during the week in many areas across the country. Activities include presentations by wolf experts, children's activities, guided tours of wolf facilities and more.

CellTrust(TM) Announces Immediate Availability of Advanced Mobile Flight Tracking Offering -- FlightAssist(TM): FlightAssist Version 1.0, Launching with a Free Promotion to the General Public, Gives Travel-Related Businesses a Competitive Edge

CellTrust(TM) Announces Immediate Availability of Advanced Mobile Flight Tracking Offering -- FlightAssist(TM): FlightAssist Version 1.0, Launching with a Free Promotion to the General Public, Gives Travel-Related Businesses a Competitive Edge

CellTrust Corporation (www. celltrust. com) today announced the immediate availability of FlightAssist version 1.0, a travel-oriented mobile alerting service that is offered free to the general public. FlightAssist gives travelers an easy way to track flight delays or cancellations via their mobile phones as well as receive up-to-the-minute information about gate changes. Additionally, FlightAssist gives airlines, travel agencies, and other travel-oriented businesses the ability to provide their customers with real-time, travel-related information, such as flight arrival and departure times. This ready-to-use service also gives travel businesses which haven't yet implemented mobile phone flight tracking, the ability to extend their brand and value to the mobile device--keeping them competitive with travel sites that have already begun setting this mobile service expectation with road warriors.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (PRWEB) August 8, 2007

Travelers using a mobile phone with SMS-enabled (short message service) account can use FlightAssist service, which currently supports data from 16,084 airports and 1,398 airlines, at www. flightassist. com. For a limited period, travelers can utilize FlightAssist for free by entering a promotional code, 123123. Easy-to-access and use, FlightAssist also includes the ability to send flight information simultaneously to a "Circle of Friends" through multi-contact notification.

As noted by Christopherson Travel (www. christophersontravel. com) Owner and President Mike Cameron, "Traveling in and of itself can be daunting and exhausting, and even more so when you are sidelined by itinerary challenges such as flight, gate, or terminal changes. However, these flight logistic challenges are quickly diminishing through the use of mobile alerting services. Using their mobile phone, travelers are now beginning to receive timely, automatic flight tracking notifications that bring them, their colleagues and families peace of mind from the beginning to the end of their trip."

The challenges noted by Cameron were illustrated recently when USA Today reported on June 5, 2007 that air delays are at their worst level in 13 years, with 28 percent of flights being late in the first four months of 2007 and almost 3 percent of flights cancelled domestically. FlightAssist gives travelers the ability to quickly respond to delays attributed to weather, late arriving aircrafts, maintenance and crew problems, and coordination of flights at airports, among other issues.

"Making mobility easily accessible, secure and applicable to many industries is critical for market adoption," said CellTrust CEO Sean Moshir. "Having recently launched its mobile academic emergency notification offering CampusReact, CellTrust is rapidly demonstrating to marketers and enterprises alike how to increase brand awareness, return on investment, and advance key performance indicator metrics via the mobile device."

FlightAssist can be purchased from CellTrust as a customized offering or as a value-added service for travel agencies. FlightAssist can be easily incorporated into an existing travel portal with the addition of a hyperlink from CellTrust. Businesses wanting the value-add option can purchase volume message credits from CellTrust, which are used upon scheduling a flight itinerary with their customer. This option provides the business with the ability to offer FlightAssist as either a value-add or for-fee service. Interested travel agencies, online travel portals, airlines, and other travel-related businesses should contact CellTrust Business Development at (480) 515-5200, ext. 304.

Sundance in Partnership With the U. S. Forest Service, Present a Premiere Screening of “The Greatest Good,” A Forest Service Centennial Film

Sundance in Partnership With the U. S. Forest Service, Present a Premiere Screening of “The Greatest Good,” A Forest Service Centennial Film

Sundance and the Sundance Nature Center, in Partnership with the U. S. Forest Service, Present a Premiere Screening of “The Greatest Good,” A Forest Service Centennial Film

(PRWEB) April 21, 2005

Sundance and the Sundance Nature Center, in partnership with the U. S. Forest Service, presents the premiere of “The Greatest Good,” May 20 th, 2005 in the Sundance Screening Room. The two-hour documentary was produced to celebrate the Forest Service's 100 th anniversary. A special reception will be held in the Sundance Screening Room Lobby at 5:30 pm, followed by the screening at 6:30 pm. The first 40 people in attendance at the event's reception will receive a limited edition Forest Service Centennial pin. The film takes the audience on a journey through the creation of the Forest Service in 1905 as the leading agency in conservation, to how the role of the Forest Service transformed because of World War II, to the vision of public land management for the future.

“It is fitting that Sundance join with the U. S. Forest Service and our friends of the Uinta National Forest to present this documentary amidst the setting of Utah's breathtaking Mt. Timpanogos,” commented Raymond T. Grant, Sundance Executive Director. “The protection of Timpanogos, through its designation as wilderness, contributes to the sense of place at Sundance and motivates our own commitment to maintaining the balance of art and nature.”

The U. S. Forest Service's story is as compelling as it is American, as it details the challenges of maintaining the nation's natural resources in the face of a century of global change. The film was produced by three Forest Service employees, Steve Dunsky and Ann Dunsky of the Pacific Northwest Region and Dave Steinke from the Rocky Mountain Region, over a period of three years.

Producers conducted nearly 60 interviews, viewed more than 500 films, looked at more than 60,000 images, read over 100 books and consulted with hundreds of people in an effort to determine just what is “The Greatest Good.”

“Sundance is a place dedicated to environmental stewardship. It is in this spirit that the Sundance Nature Center partners with the Uinta National Forest in presenting this film that documents the challenges of preserving these treasures that are our national forests,” said Julie Mack, Executive Director of the North Fork Preservation Alliance.

The breath-taking high definition documentary takes the audience on a journey from the timbered shores of the Pacific Northwest to the marble halls of Washington D. C. , as it details the choices regarding how we utilize our natural heritage. They are choices filled with controversy. Whether it's the protection of endangered species or meeting the needs of a growing public, the fate of America 's public lands is constantly challenged.

For more than 100 years, visionary foresters Gifford Pinchot and Aldo Leopold shaped the debate. Their journey from the “wise use” of resources to the idea of a “land ethic” has defined the evolution of the Forest Service. The film outlines this evolution, featuring a new breed of leaders emerging with radical ideas about adopting practices that benefit the great portion of the population and the Forest Service‘s early decades of inventing tools, developing policies and taking actions needed to manage public lands. Then, as World War II transformed the nation, the agency shifted from a role of conservation to one of production.

As the country has evolved, a more outspoken public and new scientific understanding of ecosystems assisted in forming a vision for public land management that continues to guide the U. S. Forest Service.

“In a balanced perspective, the film discusses the major events that have occurred over the last 100 years that have served to shape the Forest Service of today,” commented Peter W. Karp, Uinta National Forest Supervisor.

The film is narrated by Charles Osgood of CBS News and the original score is performed by the Skywalker Symphony, part of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.

About the Uinta National Forest

The Uinta National Forest, established in 1897, was the first National Forest in Utah. The unique mix of land, people and events have made the Uinta National Forest what it is today and will continue to carry it into the future. In 1984, Congress passed the Wilderness Act in which certain lands were designated for inclusion in the National Wilderness Preservation System. The Mt. Timpanogos Area was included under this legislation. This wilderness area is being managed to maintain wilderness character and serves to protect valuable watershed.

From the very first humans to the hikers and nature lovers of tomorrow, the Uinta National Forest will continue to provide important resources and opportunities for the American people. As the Uinta National Forest Supervisor, Peter W. Karp, said, "Wise and careful use by us all will ensure that these lands will be available and provide the joy we experience today and well into the next millennium. Each of us as owners and stewards has a responsibility to care for the lands and resources of the Uinta National Forest."

About the Sundance Nature Center

The center is an important new educational resource and interpretive center for residents and visitors. The Sundance Nature Center showcases the incredible diversity of life in the canyon, and helps people understand why and how we can all be a part of protecting it for future generations. The center provides a fitting complement to Sundance's commitment to nature and the arts.

Greczyn to Retire from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina February 1

Greczyn to Retire from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina February 1

Championed Turnaround of Company, Sharpened Company’s Focus on Customers.

Chapel Hill, NC (Vocus) December 11, 2009

Bob Grecyzn will wrap up his more than decade-long tenure as chief executive officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina on February 1, 2010. The BCBSNC Board of Trustees earlier this fall designated J. Bradley (Brad) Wilson to succeed Greczyn as chief executive.

Greczyn led the state’s largest health insurer to its resurgence as a customer-focused company dedicated to improving health, more than tripling annual revenues, increasing jobs at the company to 4,900. When he was promoted to CEO, BCBSNC was struggling to win new customers and had posted total operating losses of almost $180 million in the previous five years. Throughout the decade the company continued to expand by offering competitive products and by starting health programs designed to improve its customers’ health. During Greczyn’s tenure, BCBSNC membership has nearly doubled from 1.9 million at the end of 1999 to 3.7 million today.

“I have the greatest affection for this company and all of you who work so hard for our customers,” said Greczyn in a blog post to the company’s employees. “The last 12 years have been full of challenges and successes that we have lived together. I will leave BCBSNC on February 1 with full confidence that ours is a company that is weathering the economic storms and remains solid and stable.”

During Greczyn’s time with Blue Cross he sharpened the company's focus on improving the health and well-being of its customers by becoming the first health insurer in the nation to provide coverage for obesity and also helped customers to afford needed medications by waiving copayments on generic drugs. He was instrumental in creating the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation, which has become one of the state's most significant health-oriented nonprofits. Bob serves as chairman of the Foundation, which has invested more than $54 million in improving the health and well-being of North Carolinians.

“The performance of the company under Bob’s leadership speaks for itself,” said BCBSNC Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Jeff Houpt. “His innovation has driven this company to new heights. We'll miss him both as a leader of this company, this state and the many roles he's taken with the national Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.”

Bob has spent as much effort in making the Triangle and North Carolina a better place to live as he has in strengthening Blue Cross. He served as Chair of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership’s (RTRP) Board of Directors during a time when RTRP pushed to create new jobs and boost employment in 13 counties. He has led the company's support of the United Way, serving for many years on the board of the United Way of the Greater Triangle, including a term as chairman. Bob spearheaded many successful drives among BCBSNC employees resulting in $7.5 million in company and employee contributions over the last 10 years.

Bob also continues to focus on improving education in North Carolina. He is a trustee of East Carolina University (his alma mater) and is the immediate past chair of the Board of Trustees. He also serves on the board of the North Carolina New Schools Project, where he champions the need to prepare today's high school students for a changing, global workforce.

About BCBSNC:
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is a leader in delivering innovative health care products, services and information to more than 3.7 million members, including approximately 900,000 served on behalf of other Blue Plans. For 76 years, the company has served its customers by offering health insurance at a competitive price and has served the people of North Carolina through support of community organizations, programs and events that promote good health. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. Access BCBSNC online at www. bcbsnc. com.

Facilitate transfer from LPN to master's degree programs Raise the profile of nursing and nurse educators in legislative circles in the state Establish mentoring programs for clinicians who transition to academic roles and conduct research on faculty mentoring Increase recruitment of advanced degree nurses for faculty positions Create scholarship opportunities for PhD candidates Create opportunities for retiring faculty to teach online Create better support systems for faculty Coordinate needs of nurses in urban and rural settings Devise and implement evidence-based teaching strategies Develop a vision of nursing as a lifelong commitment to learning and education

Constituent leagues operate under the umbrella of the NLN's Constituent Organization Advisory Council, promoting excellence in nursing education to create a strong and diverse nursing workforce through statewide, regional, and local conferences, advocacy, and other professional activities that address issues of particular interest to nurse educators in their respective geographic locales.

Nurse educators: If there is no constituent league in your area and you have an interested group of nurse educators, please contact Tish Hess, director, membership and excellence initiatives at 212-812-0374.

Dedicated to excellence in nursing, the National League for Nursing is the premier organization for nurse faculty and leaders in nursing education offering faculty development, networking opportunities, testing services, nursing research grants, and public policy initiatives to its 31,000 individual and 1,200 institutional members.

MTU Detroit Diesel Honored As One of Detroit's "Best and Brightest" for Second Year Running

MTU Detroit Diesel Honored As One of Detroit's "Best and Brightest" for Second Year Running

Exemplary human resources practices, comprehensive benefits and positive employee survey results make MTU Detroit Diesel an employer-of-choice in Metro Detroit.

Detroit, MI (Vocus) September 11, 2009 -

MTU Detroit Diesel, the North American regional headquarters for MTU Friedrichshafen, a Tognum Group company, was again named as one of "Metropolitan Detroit's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For" as defined by the Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA). This is MTU Detroit Diesel's second consecutive year receiving this honor.

"In 2009's tough economic climate, this recognition as one of Metro Detroit's 'Best and Brightest Companies' means even more to us," says Patrick Kapusta, senior manager, Human Resources, MTU Detroit Diesel, Inc. "It's relatively easy to offer outstanding benefits, training and community involvement when times are good, but the true test of a company's commitment to its employees and human resources practices comes when times are more challenging."

This year's competition included over 1,100 employee nominations representing over 400 companies. Winning companies were determined by the results of independent research that evaluated each company in the following categories: communication; community initiatives; compensation and benefits; diversity and multiculturalism; employee education and development; employee engagement and commitment; recognition and retention; small business; recruitment and selection; and work-life balance.

An important element of this research was a confidential survey that was administered via email to randomly selected employees about their work environment.

"It is very encouraging to continue to receive high marks from our employees even during these tough times," says Kapusta. "While we have not been unaffected by the global economic crisis, we have been working hard to maintain nearly all of the benefits and programs that have made us an employer-of-choice in the area."

MTU Detroit Diesel is currently hiring for a select number of positions in its Detroit / Redford facility. For a complete list of career opportunities, please visit http://www. mtudetroitdieselcareers. com].

Z University Issues Intern Recruitment Business Advisory

Z University Issues Intern Recruitment Business Advisory

Opportunity for employers and non profits to gain productivity this spring while giving students opportunity to develop.

Newtown, PA (PRWEB) October 31, 2006

The time is now! The untapped pipeline of student talent awaits. Z University. org (ZU), a leading advocate and provider of workforce readiness solutions (http://www. zuniversity. org), hereby issues this Intern Recruitment Business Advisory to all employers and non-profit charitable organizations, and strongly recommends they take advantage of the opportunity to have college interns during the spring 2007 academic term.

"There are more students in need of internships (http://www. interntoolkit. com/index. asp) than there are employer 'site sponsors' to host them," asserts Matthew Zinman, president of Z University. org. "This is not just unfortunate for students' workforce readiness needs, but at least as much for businesses and organizations to leverage the opportunity to add intern productivity to the bottom line."

Zinman continues, "Any business that hires college graduates or simply needs added resources stands to benefit from having college interns. Businesses will find college students to be highly capable, highly motivated and, if well-managed, highly valuable. They can perform a variety of tasks, such as any involving research, writing, event planning, making phone calls, and computer work. These represent core business skills only; not the opportunity to apply students' chosen career skills."

This Intern Recruitment Advisory is as much for potential host sites as it is for existing ones. Some employers limit their opportunity to the summer break while others misjudge the recruitment calendar that slips past them.

Zinman adds, "This is just a friendly reminder that as Baby Boomers retire, workforce development (http://www. zuniversity. org) takes on a whole new priority and internships present the single best opportunity for students to gain practical training. New reports, such as from The Conference Board (10.06), validate that the workforce is 'ill-prepared.' It's time for businesses to put their action where their interests lie."

Z University. org is dedicated to stimulate important dialogue, foster collaboration, take action, and enable others to do the same, such as by helping employer host sites to create best-in-class internship programs (http://www. zuniversity. org).

ZU created its Intern Toolkit (http://www. interntoolkit. com/index. asp)™ as a complete resource to enable site sponsors with everything they need to manage an internship program most easily and effectively and create real value for all involved. Z University also takes action to enable employer host sites by developing and providing many free internship-related resources, articles, webinars, assessment tools, white papers, etc.

About Z University. org

Z University. org (ZU) is a leading change advocate and innovator of workforce development solutions to close the gaps of knowledge and experience that exist between school and work. ZU's principle initiative is to help employers and non-profits to create best-in-class internships and related experiential education programs. The goal is to provide college students with the vital experience and career training to best prepare them to succeed all the more upon entering the workforce and beyond.

Z University's other initiatives involve: creating proprietary internship program assessment tools, formalizing a student mentoring curriculum for professionals to support student development, innovating specialized training programs for entry-level professionals, establishing a scholarship foundation to support merit-based internships, and taking action as a leader in promoting experiential education.

About Intern Toolkit

Intern Toolkit features a proprietary "core system" designed to make students highly productive and contribute business value. The Toolkit has seven modules and nearly 60 components with step-by-step best practices, adaptable templates (i. e., worksheets, checklists, questionnaires, evaluations, and legal forms), and tools and resources to support program management needs that range from the most basic to the most advanced. It also contains exclusive business skills training materials. Intern Toolkit comes in a spiral bound reference guide with all contents on a CD-ROM for users to adapt as needed.

President Profile

Matthew Zinman is president and founder of Z University. org (ZU). He created Intern Toolkit™ based on a system he developed through nearly 20 years of first-hand experience with internship programs and personally managing more than 200 student interns (and counting). Mr. Zinman has emerged as a leading advocate and innovator of workforce readiness solutions. He continues to author numerous articles for various trade and business publications and lecture at colleges, universities, and professional associations on a number of experiential learning and career development topics.

This press release was distributed through eMediawire by Human Resources Marketer (HR Marketer: www. HRmarketer. com) on behalf of the company listed above.

Baltimore, MD (December 31, 2003) January 5, 2004 launches a new revolutionary business model that changes how small business owners and entrepreneurs conduct business and positively influence their net profits. The Alliance for Virtual Businesses™ (www. AllianceForVirtualBiz. com), a collaboration between more than 15 virtual assistance organizations and 1,500 Virtual Assistants, kicks off a year-long campaign to introduce this fast growing, Internet-based, cottage industry of Virtual Assisting to the global business community.

Virtual Assistants (VAs) are highly skilled professionals who provide administrative support and specialized services to businesses, entrepreneurs, executives, and others who have more work to do than time to do it. Services examples include web design and maintenance, meeting and event planning, desktop publishing, word processing, and business start-up consultations.

As documented by a survey commissioned by the Alliance in September 2003, VAs reside in the United States, UK, Canada, Australia, and many other countries, and work with clients from around the world. They use corporate-honed skills and education to help entrepreneurs work smart, not harder. These administrative, office and Internet technology gurus are the answer to many entrepreneurs and small business ownersÂ’ needs. Unfortunately, most business owners were unaware of the Virtual Assistant industry.

Beginning January 5, The Alliance will conduct a worldwide educational campaign. The signature event, a silent auction, scheduled January 5 thru 31, 2004, gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to bid for VA-donated services and products, learn more about the industry, and meet experienced Virtual Assistants. Part of the proceeds from the silent auction will fund scholarships and benefit the awareness campaign.

Angel Salt Lamps Help Change Children's Lives in Pakistan, Togo & Paraguay

Angel Salt Lamps Help Change Children's Lives in Pakistan, Togo & Paraguay

Through The Angel's Corner and sales of its recently created Angel Salt Lamp, customers of GAMMA Salt Cristal have helped improve the lives of hundreds of children and entrepreneurs in Pakistan, Togo and Paraguay.

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) February 27, 2008

GAMMA Salt Cristals Ltd announces the first in a series of donations supporting charities and non-profit organizations throughout the world. Through The Angel's Corner and sales of its recently created Angel Salt Lamp, our customers have so far helped us support hundreds of children and entrepreneurs in Pakistan, Togo and Paraguay.

Our first contribution, three micro-loans through Kiva (http://www. kiva. org/lender/GAMMASalt3136 (http://www. kiva. org/lender/GAMMASalt3136)), is helping a man in Togo buy tools for his repair business, a woman in Togo to buy inventory for her shoe business, and a woman in Paraguay to buy more merchandise for her grocery store. As these loans are repaid over the coming year, the funds will be reloaned to others looking to start or expand their business, enabling them to lift themselves out of poverty.

Next we made a donation to Plan Canada, which will be used in a Birth Registration Program in Pakistan, where our factory is located. The goal of this project is to assist children without documentation in obtaining a birth certificate. Most significantly these documents provide children with easier access to essential social services such as education and health care. Also, by providing proof of age, it helps protect against child labor and child marriage and aids in defending against abuse and child trafficking. Our contribution will help provide documents for over 230 children.

Inspired by former President Bill Clinton's book 'Giving' and Oprah Winfrey's efforts to improve the lives of countless people around the globe, "I decided to use my name to give tribute to these Angels and use our company to spread a bit of goodness around the world. I would like to thank our customers for their support and assure you that we will continue to investigate other worthy projects around the world. This is only the beginning," said Maria Angel, co-owner of Gamma Salt.

Fun and True Robotic Experience For Children Age 8-15 At Unique Technology Learning Center, Storming Robots, the Only Authorized LEGO MINDSTORMS Center in NJ

Fun and True Robotic Experience For Children Age 8-15 At Unique Technology Learning Center, Storming Robots, the Only Authorized LEGO MINDSTORMS Center in NJ

Storming Robots Robotics Learning Center is the first technology learning center in NJ has become an authorized LEGO MINDSTORMS Center since 2004. It offers robotics programs for children age 8 to 15. It provides hands-on LEGO robots workshops where children have fun time learning how to design and program robots. Its programs aim to inspire children's interests in robotics and science technologies by developing their intellect in fundamental engineering concepts, mathematics, strategic thinking, and problem solving.

Branchburg, NJ (PRWEB) October 18, 2005

Storming Robots, the Only Authorized LEGO MINDSTORMS Center in NJ, offers fun-filled educational hands-on robotics programs for age 8 to 15.

It provides engaging hands-on LEGO robots workshops where children have fun time learning how to design and program robots.

Using Award winning LEGO MINDSTORMS Robotics Technology!

This technology was developed by the LEGO Company and the MIT Media Lab, and was recognized as the stepping stone for children to the real world of robotics. With this easy-to-learn, but sophisticated system, children can create a wide variety of robots from simple automated vehicles with simple motion controls to more advanced robotic “arms” that use a variety of sensors, such as light, touch, rotation, and temperature sensors.

All programming is written on a PC and “transferred” to the MINDSTORMS robot so children also get the extra benefit of acquiring or enhancing their computer skills.

Have a fun time learning how to design and program robots!

Though the idea of having a child programmed robots may sound intimidating, the LEGO MINDSTORMS System provides an easy and fun experience. Storming Robots’ workshops offer a friendly teamwork-learning environment, and most children find it very intuitive within a short period of time.

Adapt curriculum developed by renowned robotics institutions!

Much of its curriculum was developed at institutions such as the Robotics Academy at Carnegie Mellon University and the Robotics Education Projects at NASA. Storming Robots further develops programs appropriate to age as low as 8. It also participates in various related communities to include technology events which focus on software and educational program development involving LEGO RCX (the brain of the robotics kits).

Dynamite and solid learning tool for novice and experts!

The LEGO Robotics System provides very easy, intuitive and fun software tools for the little ones as young as 8 years old. The programming environment was developed by the Tufts University’s Center of Engineering Educational Outreach Organization.

These robotics devices are much more than meet the eye. It also contains a wide scope of advanced features which will offer challenging fun to high school, as well as college level individuals.

Be Fascinated by Your Own Built LEGO Robots

The popularity of LEGO among children is undisputable. Most people remember the wonderful feeling of completing their own LEGO construction with their own hands! It is even more fun programming their LEGO Robots to move on command. However, don't think it is a trivial task. It requires planning, problem solving, analysis and programming.

Storming Robots’ skilled instructors will help the children to turn these tasks to extreme fun. Under proper instruction, children further develop their applied mathematics skill, fundamental engineering concepts, strategic thinking, and programming knowledge. Children learn robotics by integrating basic mechanics, mathematics, design and programming.

Highlights of Storming Robots’ robotics programs:

Hands-on LEGO robots exploration, including building, understanding the mechanics behind the robots and programming.  Build Robots from scratch and program them to do a wide variety of tasks  Engage in friendly contests. Some examples of contests:  Robot speed race.  “Sumobots” where one robot has to push the other outside a ring.  Communication between robots.  Robot laser tag.  Stress on teamwork.  Strengthen analytical and strategic thinking skill.  Inspire children's interests in robotics and science technologies by developing their intellect in fundamental engineering concepts, mathematics, strategic thinking, and problem solving.

Programs offered at Storming Robots that children age 8 to 16 will find fun with science:

RoboClub  School breaks RoboCamp (such as Memorial Day, winter and summer break) Customized after school workshops at school or on-site  Classes for Home schoolers Group activities customized for organizations such as scouts.  Day activities for schools’ science field trips Birthday Parties

Storming Robots sponsors its RoboClub to participate in the FIRST LEGO League NJ State Tournament.

In order to promote awareness of science with robotics, Storming Robots is sponsoring a Robotics Youth Club for children aged between 9 and 14. The center provides all the latest software, computers, and sufficient amount of LEGO MINDSTORMS Robotics components for members to conduct their robotics activities and exploration. Membership fee is very affordable, and meeting time is extremely flexible. Registration is available online at http://www. storming-robots. com (http://www. storming-robots. com), or via email challenge@storming-robots. com, or phone (908) 595-1010.

The FIRST LEGO League is an internationally known robotics program for children. Annual tournaments allow teams to conduct hands-on robotics design and authentic scientific research. At the end of the State Tournament, participants may be invited to take part in the National Tournament as well.

Some of the fun and captivating activities include:

Create and program a model “House of the Future” with Robotic security and automation.  “Amusement Park” workshop where children create robotic bumper cars and automated merry-go-rounds.  “Mission Mars” workshop where children program a Mars Rover that can find and save astronauts stranded on the planet Mars.  Smart 6-leg walking bug project where children build and program this cute bug to mimic a real bug’s walking motion and behavior, such as running away from light.  Program your robot to play one's favorite tune, e. g.Fur Elise.
