The Great American Train Company Ships Its First Backyard Riding Trains to Coincide with National Train Day

The Great American Train Company Ships Its First Backyard Riding Trains to Coincide with National Train Day

The Great American Train Company, LLC (GATC), a Minnesota-based manufacturer of backyard riding trains and accessories, announced today it is now shipping its first production-level backyard riding trains. The date of first shipments coincides with the first-ever National Train Day on May 10, 2008.

PLYMOUTH, Minn. (PRWEB) May 9, 2008

GATC sells a full range of period-specific backyard trains and accessories, including locomotives, riding cars, rolling stock, signals, signs and lights, pre-assembled track sections and more.

The locomotives and riding cars are powerful enough to carry the operator and seven to eight additional adults or children. Yet they're small enough - only about three feet tall at their highest point - to fit perfectly into most backyard landscapes.

"We are excited to announce our backyard trains are now available for the first time," said Mark Strobel, National Sales Manager at GATC. "Our backyard riding trains are great way to bring a fun, safe and educational hobby to people everywhere. We are proud to be sharing the news on America's National Train Day - the official anniversary of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in 1869."

Reliable Operation and Authentic Features

The locomotive and integrated riding tender are 24-volt battery-powered for safety, reliability, ease of operation and low maintenance. All finishes are of the highest quality and include solid bronze and brass trim, cast-iron wheels, powder-coat painted steel and cast aluminum.

The trains run on 7.25" and 7.5" gauge heavy-duty, aluminum track mounted to specially-treated 2" x 2" wooden railroad ties. A built-in digital sound system and smoke and steam generator are included to provide the most realistic and authentic riding train experience possible. Homeowners can hire a local landscape contractor to perform a turn-key installation, assist with installation or install their trains and tracks themselves.

Residential and vacation properties with an acre or more of land are the primary target market for GATC's backyard trains. Some trains will also be installed in light commercial applications such as garden centers, orchards and vineyards, local and county fairs, shopping centers and more.

All products are now available factory-direct through the GATC website at www. greatamericantrain. com or by calling 1-800-486-0553 (USA and Canada) or +1-763-476-5140. Emails may be sent to sales@greatamericantrain. com.

CCEW applauds the release of the document, Dignitas Personae, newly issued by the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. CCEW recognizes that not all advances in biotechnology support human dignity and flourishing. We welcome the Vatican's affirmation that all human life, including the smallest and weakest among us, has inherent dignity.

Jennifer Lahl M. A., National Director of the Center for Bioethics and Culture (www. cbc-network. org) and founding member of CCEW said, "While I am not Catholic, I appreciate the enormous value in this document that is not only based on the faith tradition of Catholicism, but is also founded in reason available to all. Dignitas Personae, along with documents such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, reinforces our belief that all human life deserves respect."

Chair of the CCEW Task Force for Marriage, Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, also President of the Ruth Institute said, "The Catholic Church objects to artificial reproductive technology because it disrupts the organic connection between sex, love and procreation. Our modern world tries to reduce us literally to atoms. Men and women are not connected to each other; children are not connected to their parents; our bodies are disconnected from our souls and our actions. In Dignitas Personae, the Vatican offers a truly comprehensive alternative view of the human person, of human sexuality and how marriage integrates them."

Dana Cody Esq., General Counsel for CCEW and Executive Director of Life Legal Defense Foundation said, "Our Founding Fathers' creed was that all human life has inherent dignity, as first expressed in the Declaration of Independence and then the Constitution. Perhaps the universal appeal of Dignitas Personae will become a catalyst to restore inherent dignity for all in our country."

Albert Starck, CEO, MaxUse, LLC;

"Most IT managers strive to achieve ever-increasing standards of excellence for their organizations while struggling against budget and resource challenges. Outsourcing is the current direction for many organizations and the potential solution to IT budget and resource challenges, but isn't always in line with maintaining service-level excellence.

That's where the Customer Advisory Council comes in. It will help technology users and service providers better leverage industry best practices. We are encouraged to see this kind of initiative coming from the MSPAlliance and are proud to be the first board member appointed to serve the outsourcing constituency."

Bill Strain, senior vice president and chief technical officer, AimNet Solutions;

"I am honored to be part of the council and look forward to working with other members as we develop ideas for products and services that will benefit the entire membership.”

Mike Backers, CEO of Altoria;

“We are very pleased to serve on the board. Altoria's goal is to help set the bar to which all MSP's should aspire. By setting high expectations, our customers will benefit and our industry will evolve to new heights.”

Jerry Cogen, Executive Vice President, Computer Network Solutions, LLC;

“This business model has matured. There are many Managed Solutions Providers that are looking for the next step in this evolutionary process. We think we can lend a hand, by collaborating as a team, to get to the next level.”

Harborstone Credit Union Partners With Security Reverse Mortgage To Provide Reverse Mortgages To Its Members

Harborstone Credit Union Partners With Security Reverse Mortgage To Provide Reverse Mortgages To Its Members

Harborstone Credit Union provides a much needed service to its senior members in these difficult times.

Gig Harbor, WA (PRWEB) March 19, 2009

Harborstone Credit Union based in Tacoma, Washington has decided to offer reverse mortgage services to its members. Harborstone Credit Union has signed an agreement with Security Reverse Mortgage and will utilize the Security Reverse Credit Union ProgramTM to educate process and fund reverse mortgage loans for its senior members.

So many seniors today have difficulty paying for day to day living expenses due to inflation and reduction in retirement accounts. A reverse mortgage is an excellent option for their members to increase their monthly cash flow and retire their monthly mortgage payments.

"Harborstone Credit Union is very pleased to add Reverse Mortgages to our list of mortgage loan programs for our membership. Over 25% of our membership initially qualifies for a reverse mortgage. Security Reverse Mortgage has been a very professional firm to deal with. We are excited about our partnership with Security Reverse Mortgage" said Roger Johansen, Sr. Vice President of Lending at Harborstone Credit Union.

Take Heart Kicks Off an Indian Summer with its ‘Rural meets Raj’ Themed Annual Fundraising Ball on June 26th 2006

Take Heart Kicks Off an Indian Summer with its ‘Rural meets Raj’ Themed Annual Fundraising Ball on June 26th 2006

The UK's only entirely student run international charitable organisations hosts their annual fundraising ball at the Kensington Roof Gardens on 26th June 2006.

(PRWEB) June 25, 2006

On 26th June, the UK’s only entirely student run international charitable organization – Take Heart India will host its annual summer ball at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens. Last year’s event was held at London’s top nightclub Movida and was covered by Tatler and attracted among others, pop star Tyler James, the Krug family, members of the England polo team and son of the PM Nick Blair. This year’s ball will be bigger and better, with headline acts including Robbie Craig (The Artful Dodger) and a celebrity hosted auction.

There are live music performances spanning a rich diversity of musical styles, from soul with Robbie Craig to jazz from the Anna Higgs Jazz Quintet, to salsa with hot Spanish act Solenca. Bollywood Grooves are performing a ‘dance off’ adding to the exotic feel of the evening.

Take Heart India has taken music to the heart of its organization and is working with the groundbreaking fair trade music label Worldwide Aid Recordings (W. A.R). In 2007 W. A.R will be traveling to India to record the orchestra at Anandwan, the world’s largest leprosarium and center for those with disabilities. Further details of the Take Heart India and W. A.R partnership will be announced during the ball and at a press conference scheduled for July 2006.

Take Heart India

With thirty-five student committee members strategically placed at universities across the country Take Heart may well be the UK's only entirely student run international charitable organisation. Take Heart stands out as rather unique amongst the other 188,452 charities registered at the UK charity commission. We are also a small grassroots organisation with no employees. All those volunteering do so without pay, which means that 100% of the proceeds go directly to those in most need.

Founded by Count Arthur Tarnowski in 1962 Take Heart is a visionary charity that has provided aid and rehabilitation to the physically handicapped people of rural India. After meeting the legendary Baba Amte, Count Tarnowski set-up Take Heart in partnership with Anandwan and the World recognised Maharogi Sewa Samiti (mss. niya. org); the institution founded by Baba Amte. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a close supporter. Since then Take Heart has run in close partnership with the MSS. All proceeds from Take Heart have been passed on to certain projects within the MSS institution. Take Heart has established a working future for thousands of people.

Since 2003 Count Tarnowski's sons, Lucian (22) and Sebastian (24) have taken over the running of Take Heart and established it through the student university population.

Lucian explains ‘although we are a 'charity' we firmly believe 'charity destroys, work builds.' Take Heart aims to help people regain their sense of dignity and self-worth in life. This is achieved through practical job training and education. The wage generated by their skills in handicrafts result in the people no longer having to resort to begging. One cannot begin to describe this as charity; ‘justice in action’ would be far more appropriate.’

The focus of current Take Heart projects has been emphasised on practical education and environmental issues. Many students currently feel that above all these two issues are the most pressing in our global society to date. There is an emphasis on computer training as well as education about current environmental issues. The students of today will certainly have to provide answers tomorrow. It is vital that the younger generation of both the UK and India hear, learn and react to many of the current global issues. Take Heart presents a new way of giving, a new approach to charity that can enable both the student volunteers and the less fortunate in rural India. Take Heart is more than just 'students helping students'.

Artists performing at the Take Heart India Summer Ball include:

Robbie Craig - The Artful Dodger

Winter Roberts

Solenca

Bollywood Grooves

Anna Higgs Jazz Quintet

Pianist Mike Matthews

Dress code: ‘Rural Meets Raj’, with a best-dressed award sponsored by Societás with a Key-2 Luxury key ring, worth £5,000

PSIStoreOnline Makes Backyard Wildlife Products Available To Pet Sitters And Their Clients

The PSIStoreOnline, a premier pet products e-commerce site, has expanded its product line to include backyard wildlife products for pet sitters and their clients. The expansion comes after the recent acquisition of Loveland Pet Products by Bradley Caldwell of Hazleton, Pa.

King, NC (Vocus) January 5, 2009

The PSIStoreOnline, a premier pet products e-commerce site, has expanded its product line to include backyard wildlife products for pet sitters and their clients. The expansion comes after the recent acquisition of Loveland Pet Products by Bradley Caldwell of Hazleton, Pa.

The PSIStoreOnline provides access to more than 2,000 discounted pet products for the 8,000 members of Pet Sitters International (PSI). The association's membership also has access to the store's affiliate program which allows members to personally recommend products for their clients' pets and receive commissions on the products purchased.

Patti Moran, PSI's president and CEO, said the store is expected to continue expanding to serve the many facets of pet care provided by the association's membership.

"Even though a client's feathered friends may not be classified as 'companion animals', caring for them is a valuable added service that many pet sitters can provide," said Moran. "The more they know about feeding wild birds, the better able they will be to care for them and the more their clients will appreciate their services."

With millions of backyard wildlife enthusiasts in the U. nited States, the attention toward products and education is warranted. Pet owners often want to know the pros and cons of house, window and platform feeders; how to disinfect the feeders; where feeders should be placed; how often to feed and what to feed.

As distributors and suppliers continue to look for new ways to get pet products to consumers, on-line stores and affiliations with niche industry associations are gaining popularity. And, as purses continue to tighten with the fluctuating economy, pet owners are looking for product discounts and expert advice on preventative care.

"People are looking for more product advice and assistance," said Roger Johannigman, vice president at Bradley Caldwell. "Our strategy is to continue providing these professional pet care givers access to products and information. This helps the pet sitter provide better service and it helps pets and pet owners obtain the right products."

"PSI members deliver more than 17 million pet-sitting engagements per year," Moran said. "Their clients have come to expect a level of pet care capability and knowledge that is only surpassed by their veterinarian."

The PSIStoreOnline can be accessed through Pet Sitters International's Web site, www. petsit. com or directly at www. psistoreonline. com.

Portland, OR (PRWEB) November 1, 2007

Multiple Revenue Sources Combine to Lift Microinvesting Firm Into the Black

(PRWEB) October 11, 2002

ATLANTA (October 14, 2002) – BabyMint, Inc., the nation’s leading microinvesting technology company announced today that it has achieved sustainable profitability. The milestone comes only 18 months after the launch of their award-winning college savings accelerator program. According to BabyMint’s Chief Financial Officer, Mike Mitchell, the company’s profitability is the result of revenue generation from multiple product lines and a general maturing of their business model.

BabyMintÂ’s primary revenue is generated through its college savings accelerator program, which enables consumers to receive up to a 20% rebate on every-day purchases made through the companyÂ’s network of more than 700 retailers, including Barnes & Noble, Gap, Starbucks, Blockbuster, and others. Retailer and product rebates are automatically tracked and deposited in the consumerÂ’s college savings plan, while BabyMint receives a small commission for facilitating the transaction. The company also licenses its technology to financial advisory firms and individual advisors as an enhancement to investment products they sell, such as mutual funds and the tax-advantaged 529 savings plans that are increasingly popular. According to Financial Research Corporation, merchant and credit card rebates, such as those facilitated by BabyMint, have the potential to represent an incremental $1.1 billion per year in assets to banks and investment management firms.

“The reality is that we have been on the path to profitability for the past several months, as transaction volume in our consumer program and new subscriptions for our financial advisor program continued to gain strength”, according to Mitchell. “Additionally, with the implementation of two key initiatives during the fourth quarter of this year, I expect our revenue growth to accelerate substantially during the months ahead.”

“Clearly BabyMint is not only one of Atlanta’s emerging success stories, but a success story for the financial services industry in general”, says Dan Shmalo, Director of the Venture Finance Practice at 404Ventures, LLC. “Given the discipline and focus I have seen from their management team, I expect that the fourth quarter of this year and 2003 will see them take their business to the next level.”

When asked about his firm’s need for additional growth capital, BabyMint Founder and CEO Peter G. Davis stated that he has not ruled out the possibility, but that it is not a requirement moving forward. “We continue to discuss the potential of outside investment with several institutional investors. Clearly outside investment would enable us to further enhance our leadership position in the microinvesting arena and ramp up our revenue more quickly, but we also have great confidence in our ability to continue our growth organically.”

NetUnity Software Releases the WSRP. NET Framework 3.0

NetUnity Software Releases the WSRP. NET Framework 3.0

NetUnity Software today announced the latest release of its product for developing Web Services for Remote Portlets(WSRP) compliant portal-based business solutions using the Microsoft. NET Framework.

Virginia Beach, Virginia (PRWEB) May 3, 2010

NetUnity Software today announced the latest release of its product for developing Web Services for Remote Portlets(WSRP) compliant portal-based business solutions using the Microsoft. NET Framework.

This latest release supports the WSRP 2.0 specification including support for events, public parameters and in-band resource requests. A single producer developed using the WSRP. NET Framework will automatically support both WSRP 1.0 and WSRP 2.0 consumers.

Version 3.0 of the WSRP. NET Framework greatly improves the use of ASP. NET pages for portlet development. These improvements significantly lessen the need for a developer to learn any new programming interfaces when developing WSRP portlets. WSRP producers and portlets can be developed using either Visual Studio 2005 or Visual Studio 2008.

The WSRP. NET Framework is a comprehensive portlet development framework and runtime that allows businesses to build and deploy portal-based business solutions based on the published OASIS web service standard that promotes plug-and-play interoperability among portals and portal components - Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP). IT organizations, application vendors and content providers can now implement WSRP portal solutions using. NET and the popular Visual Studio™ development environment to target WSRP compliant portals. The NetUnity WSRP. NET Framework is available for evaluation to qualified businesses or for immediate purchase.

About NetUnity Software
NetUnity Software provides WSRP-based products and services that enable businesses to develop and deploy open standard portal solutions for the Microsoft. NET platform. NetUnity is an active member of the OASIS WSRP Committee responsible for the development of the WSRP Specification and has formal partnerships with the major portal vendors supporting WSRP.

NetUnity Software products are used by global organizations in financial, healthcare, energy, pharmaceutical, education, transportation, professional services and employer services industries. Parents Send Back to School Gifts as Students Adjust to College Life

Parents Send Back to School Gifts as Students Adjust to College Life

With college students around the country settling into their new reality of college life, many parents like to acknowledge this major transition by sending a back to school gift to show how much they care.

Genoa, IL (PRWEB) September 21, 2006

Whether freshman just starting out graduate students who’ve been going to college for years, each new year at college is like discovering a brand new world. A back to school gift (http://www. from-mom. com/store/index. asp? department_id=25) sent with love is a great way to help ease the transition to college after a summer of leisurely fun.

Back to school gifts are a wonderful way to help get any student off on the right foot as they continue their education journey.

“My daughter is a little worried about leaving home and starting her college life. She’s excited, but a little anxious about the major changes coming her way. I’m sending her a back to school gift that will arrive a couple of weeks after she’s settled,” comments Nancy Harris, a mom from Kentucky.

Busy parents, like Harris, turn to the Internet to help them select the perfect back to school gift. From Mom. com is a unique Internet business offering terrific back to school gift baskets (http://www. from-mom. com/store/index. asp? department_id=25) filled with nutritious and delicious items perfect for stocking any college student’s dorm room. With everything from fresh baked muffins and cookies to cheese wedges, sodas, snack mixes and energy bars, these back to school gifts make the grade with every college student!

“Last year, I received a back to school gift that my dad selected on the From Mom. com website,” states Karen Anderson, from the University of Minnesota. I just loved the great treats it contained, and let me tell you – my dorm mates were envious,” she exclaimed.

Care packages and back to school gifts created by From-Mom. com, contain high quality contents, instead of the typical vending machine foods that are generally used in these types of gifts. The hip and healthy snacks and beverages are the perfect gifts for college students (http://www. from-mom. com/store/index. asp? department_id=25). They truly appreciate the tasty gift as well as "mom's" sentiments from home.

As the first days and weeks of college pass by, back to school gifts let students enjoy high quality treats along with knowing that people from home are thinking of them and wishing them well.

Wilt the Stilt basketball nets big bucks at auction

Wilt the Stilt basketball nets big bucks at auction

(PRWEB) May 20, 2000

Overland Park, Kan. — When Kerry Ryman, Annville, Pa., decided he no longer wanted the basketball Wilt Chamberlain used to score a record 100 points in one game, he knew what to do with it.

Have an auction. After all, what better way is there to sell something that you know other people want?

Get them together at an auction, let them determine what the item is worth to them and how much theyÂ’re willing to spend on it.

RymanÂ’s choice proved to be the right one: the basketball sold for more than $551,000, about $400,000 above early estimates, according to media accounts.

Auctions truly are the Voice of the Market , offering numerous benefits to buyers and sellers alike. Sellers know that a professional auctioneer will gather a crowd of potential buyers interested in the merchandise. Buyers know that they can have a say in what price something sells for.

All types of property are sold successfully at auction each day. A hand-drawn Christmas card sent by John Lennon to Beatles manager Brian Epstein sold recently at auction for $8,000, for example.

Information about auctions and the industry can be found on the NAA website at www. auctioneers. org. In addition, thereÂ’s a searchable database of NAA-member auctioneers, as well as a searchable calendar of NAA-member auctions across the country.

The NAA website also features a series called “Auction Talk,” which answers commonly asked questions about the auction industry.

The National Auctioneers Association is a nearly 6,000-member organization dedicated to advancing the auction method of marketing. Auctioneers use their unique skills to raise money for sick children at St. Jude ChildrenÂ’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., which treats children stricken with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. NAA members and affiliates have raised more than $1.4 million for the Memphis, Tenn., hospital that treats children from across the U. S. and world.

The association will conduct its annual Convention in July of 2000 in Norfolk, Va. Highlights include the intense International Auctioneer Championship, from which one man and one woman will emerge as the winners. The Convention will also feature educational sessions to advance auctioneersÂ’ continuing education, networking opportunities, a Trade Show, banquets and more.

SmartDraw 2009 Features Network Mapping, Built-In PowerPoint® Animation, Smart Website Mapping Among its Enhancements for IT Pros

SmartDraw 2009 Features Network Mapping, Built-In PowerPoint® Animation, Smart Website Mapping Among its Enhancements for IT Pros

Newest Version of Popular Software Marries Ease-of-Use with "Wow" Factor. SmartDraw. com, maker of the world's most popular business graphics software, today announced the release of SmartDraw 2009, containing dramatically enhanced functionality and exclusive new features that help IT managers improve communications, better organize ideas, refine their operations and simply work smarter.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 11, 2008

SmartDraw. com, maker of the world's most popular business graphics software, today announced the release of SmartDraw 2009, containing dramatically enhanced functionality and exclusive new features that help IT managers improve communications, better organize ideas, refine their operations and simply work smarter.

"IT professionals understand that a picture is worth a thousand words when trying to express key ideas," said Paul Stannard, SmartDraw. com CEO. "Because SmartDraw draws for them, illustrating a network with a detailed diagram, representing a key process with a flowchart, mapping a network, or introducing a new service using a project chart become easy ways to convey clear, compelling, and often critically important points."

The innovations in SmartDraw 2009 empower anyone to create high-impact graphics with a learning curve of just minutes. New features include:
Automatically Map a Network. SmartDraw can now network according to lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP), resulting in a clear, comprehensive network diagram. Smart Website Mapping. Users can simply type in the website domain and SmartDraw automatically generates a "smart" website map, organizing the pages in an intelligent, understandable way. Instant Web Page Capture. Users can also capture any web page and then draw and annotate on top of it. Perfect for website development and review. Seamless PowerPoint® Integration with Built-In Animation. Using animation to reveal information step-by-step with each click is a key feature for helping audiences fully comprehend what the presenter is trying to convey. SmartDraw 2009 easily turns an unfocused, "busy" presentation into one that captures attention. With just one mouse click, SmartDraw transfers a graphic into a PowerPoint® slide with built-in animation. SmartDraw applies these animation cues automatically and preserves them when the graphic is moved into PowerPoint®. The result is a more compelling and memorable presentation. SmartDraw is the only business graphics program with this level of integration with PowerPoint®. Faster, Easier Project Management. New project management features include more control, increased automation and improved customization of Gantt charts and timelines. SmartDraw offers real project management without the complexity and learning curve of a product like Microsoft Project®. Quicker Flowcharting. Flowcharts are drawn automatically, using simple commands. Users can even build one without taking their fingers off the keyboard. Lines are drawn automatically. Formatting is automatic: shapes are evenly spaced and perfectly aligned. Improved ImageCharts and ExpressCharts. With ImageCharts, use pictures and images to display information instead of boring lines, bars, and circles. Simply drag any image--even a photo--onto a chart, and watch the data come alive. Or, create real charts and graphs of every kind without making a spreadsheet first with improved ExpressCharts. Stunning New Presentation Effects. Stunning new effects such as 3D graphs and perspective view take presentations to the next level. Includes new themes for storyboarding presentations, as well as more synergy with PowerPoint®. Improved special effects add extra flair. Automatic Mind Maps and Org Charts. Like flowcharts, mind maps and org charts are also drawn for the user with simple commands. Trees can now expand or hide depending on desired output to show various levels of hierarchy. Realistic Live Maps with Google. The new Live Map feature captures data from Google maps to incorporate roads, regions, counties, zip codes, countries and even satellite images from across the globe into illustrations. With SmartDraw 2009 users can now plot data centered on a location, showing network capabilities by region for example, making for an incredibly professional effect when presenting area-related data. Better, Faster Floor Plans. Floor plans include smarter walls and easier manipulation of shapes, as well as easy snap-on windows and doors. New dimension lines and area measurements make facilities management easier than ever. Sticky Notes. Add special explanatory notes to any shape with new "sticky notes" in SmartDraw. The note appears only when the cursor scrolls over the object so notes never clutter a diagram.

SmartDraw 2009 works seamlessly with Microsoft Office, allowing one-click export to MS PowerPoint®, Word® and Excel®, making it easy to share SmartDraw graphics with others in plans, reports, and presentations.

SmartDraw offers a variety of licensing options and programs, including educational pricing. A free trial is available at www. smartdraw. com and includes both online and telephone technical support.

A Talent Show Worthy of Its Own TV Show

A Talent Show Worthy of Its Own TV Show

RES SUCCESS, a successful day program facility for the severely mentally disabled, is hosting its second annual talent show on Saturday, September19, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 p. m.

Martinez, CA (PRWEB) September 19, 2009

RES SUCCESS, a successful Contra Costa County day facility for the severely mentally disabled, hosts its second annual talent show at the Campbell Theater in Martinez on Saturday, September19, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 p. m.

Given the popularity of talent shows on television, it is clear the public loves watching unknown performers get on a stage to give it their best. As Britain's Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle made us all question our preconceived notions, these adult students performing will certainly shatter any preconceptions about the capability or heart of the mentally disabled population.

The talent show is open to the public and will take place at 636 Ward Street in Martinez. RES SUCCESS is recommending a $10 donation to attend. The event will also include a big raffle with all proceeds going to the music programs at each RES SUCCESS facility. The event is sponsored by several local businesses such as the Campbell Theater, who graciously donated use of the venue.

"Last year's talent show made us all laugh and cry. It was simply amazing watching our students show their creativity and inner spirit through performance," said Executive Director Ian Bremner.

With this event, RES SUCCESS has one goal in mind – to give its talented students the chance to shine and to have fun and smile. It is also an opportunity for participants to positively communicate their feelings outside the program. The event will present about two dozen musical, dance, and theatrical acts. Participants will receive recognition for their efforts by a panel of judges while a select few will receive awards for the most inspiring acts.

Some of the scheduled performances include: Theatrical Skit, "The Wizard of Oz", Singers performing the "New Divide", "Stand by Me", "Part of Your World," and "Hard Days Night". Others will dance to "Sexy Back","Don't Stop Till You Get Enough", and Michael Jackson's "Beat It." Others will read poems, play instruments and act in a scene.

"This (show) really delves into the fun aspect of what we go through every day in the midst of everyone's educational and vocational goals," says Christina Griego, the talent show director and a member of the RES SUCCESS staff. "We hope our students come away from this with a greater sense of self-worth and high esteem. We want them to realize they really are strong individuals. Just overcoming the fear of performing is praise worthy enough for anyone," she said.

RES SUCCESS
Founded in 1994, RES SUCCESS (Redefining Educational Services) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization offering day services to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental illnesses. Many of these individuals have moderate to severe behavioral challenges and are individuals who are traditionally referred to state-run hospitals.

Currently, RES SUCCESS is comprised of four student centers, two in Martinez, which serves 20 and 30 clients, respectively; one in Pleasant Hill which serves 45, and a new green facility in Pittsburg, which serves 70 clients. The centers provide education, training and a daytime community structure for adults with mild to profound developmental disabilities. This show offers a special chance for several students to demonstrate the talents they cultivated at RES SUCCESS.

RES SUCCESS has operated under the impassioned belief that there has to be a better way of serving developmentally disabled adults. The organization believes that every human deserves to lead a fulfilling life and achieve his or her own personal potential. RES SUCCESS fully supports its students through specially designed behavioral modification and community inclusion programs. For more information, go to www. ressuccess. org.

International MBA Partnership Brings Students to Franklin University

In a recent visit, Wroclaw School of Banking (WSB) MBA students spent a week exploring the Franklin University campus. Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) May 13, 2010

In a recent visit, Wroclaw School of Banking (WSB) MBA students spent a week exploring the Franklin University campus. A first trip to the United States for many of the 18 visiting students, the visit was the result of the 2008 signing of an agreement to offer the Franklin MBA to students at WSB beginning this past fall.

Under the agreement, the Franklin MBA program was made available to Polish students in the fall term of 2009 in classes held on WSB’s campus in Wroclaw, a major industrial city in southwest Poland. Classes are taught in English by a combination of Columbus-based Franklin faculty members traveling to Poland and European faculty members from WSB and other institutions.

The Polish MBA students visited the Franklin Main Campus in downtown Columbus, Ohio to learn more about WSB’s partner university as well as expand their global business perspective. In addition to touring campus, students visited the Honda East Liberty and Anheuser-Busch plants to see how global brands based in the United States, specifically in Ohio, operate. A select group of students who work in the healthcare industry in Poland also visited Riverside Methodist Hospital, observing the latest in medical technologies.

In addition to corporate excursions, the visiting MBA students attended a joint education session with Franklin University’s Central Ohio MBA students and took part in team-building exercises, culture discussions, and a development opportunity titled “The Brand Called You,” presented by Dr. Doug Ross, Program Chair of the Franklin MBA. Students from both the WSB and Franklin MBA cohorts were paired into groups, discussing ways to leverage an MBA to further career goals as well as build personal worth.

Students also visited the Prime Outlet Mall in Jeffersonville and attended a Columbus Clippers baseball game to get a taste of local shopping and entertainment.

Visits such as this are in the planning stages for future WSB MBA cohorts as well as cohorts from Franklin University’s other global partners. Franklin enjoys a growing global presence that distinguishes the University as an innovator and leader in the export of higher education. Franklin currently participates in agreements with the Wroclaw School of Banking in Poland, the University St. Kliment Ohridski-Bitola in Macedonia, the National Mining University (NMU) in the Ukraine, Okan University in Turkey, the University of Economics of Bratislava in Slovakia, Mangalore University in India, Sichuan University in China, and Vietnam National University in Vietnam.

Isoph, e-learning success partner to membership organizations and nonprofits, today announced that the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, has launched an online course based on the popular Test-Taking Techniques Review and Resource Manual that has helped so many nurses improve their certification examination scores.

Carrboro, NC (PRWEB) May 19, 2005

Isoph, e-learning success partner to membership organizations and nonprofits, today announced that the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, has launched an online course based on the popular Test-Taking Techniques Review and Resource Manual that has helped so many nurses improve their certification examination scores. IsophÂ’s expert course development team worked with the ANCC to convert the manual into an online format, and the course is hosted in the Isoph Blue learning community system.

“This material has helped hundreds of nurses improve their test-taking skills,” said Joanne Evans, RN, MEd., CS, the ANCC’s education program specialist. “By offering it online, we will be able to reach hundreds—perhaps even thousands—more nurses and help them more fully master knowledge that is essential to nursing certification.”

“This is yet another case where e-learning makes a great deal of sense,” said Isoph CEO Jeff Cobb. “Like so many organizations that serve a large group of stakeholders the ANCC needed to be able to distribute important learning content in a timely, easily accessible fashion. Isoph provides the skills and the software for them to do just that.”

The new course is available for a limited time, from May 6 through May 24, 2005, just in time to help nurses prepare for upcoming certification exams.

Key features include:

•Mental, physical, and academic exam preparation strategies

•Review of more than a dozen critical test-taking skills

•50 practice questions related to the nursing field, each with detailed feedback to indicate the test-taking skills best applied to answer the question properly

•The ability to take practice questions over and over again, with real-time feedback for every response
