(PRWEB) May 24, 2006

Preparations are well underway for the world's main franchising event, which takes place in less than two weeks.

The 15th annual International Franchise Expo (IFE), which is expected to attract franchisers and potential franchisers and franchisees from over 60 countries, will be held in Washington DC at the new Washington Convention Centre from Friday June 2nd to Sunday June 4th.

It enables people and companies involved in franchising or who want to be involved in franchising, including suppliers and industry publications, to come together and develop their skills, make new contacts and obtain useful information and advice from experts in the franchising field.

There will be hundreds of franchise concepts on show throughout the IFE, which is sponsored by the International Franchise Association and endorsed by the US Department of Commerce, as well as a number of franchisers looking for new clients.

The event's education and development programme is split up into six subjects, three for potential franchisees and potential franchisers and three for current franchisers.

For each topic there is a symposium that has a panel of experienced people with expert knowledge of the subject and presents a detailed overview of how to go about achieving your aims in this area.

There is also a seminar or some seminars for these subjects which examine specific issues. These are free to attend.

People at any stage in the process of purchasing a franchise and becoming a franchisee can attend the How to Finance Your Franchise and Choosing the Right Franchise seminars.

There are three seminars for companies looking to become a franchise to expand their business. The Earnings Claim seminar goes into what constitutes an earnings claim and their benefits and disadvantages as untrained people in franchise sales personnel could unknowingly disclose information which is regulated.

In addition, there are seminars on making your franchise more attractive to potential minority franchisees and on developing a simple approach to improve your unit managers' business acumen.

For those wanting to obtain a master franchise, one seminar details the differences between domestic and foreign master franchises and how to tell if fees for these franchises are fair and affordable.

The two others give advice on how to make franchise agreements and resolve disputes and what to look out for when negotiating a master franchise agreement.

The symposiums and seminars for current franchisers are aimed at US franchisers looking to expand in the US market and those wanting to grow internationally and non-US franchisers who aim to establish outlets in the US.

Seminars include looking at state and country laws which apply to franchising, using new technology to improve business relationships and the current state of franchising across the world in different industry sectors.

There will also be three specialist seminars. One explains the franchise opportunities for veterans, another gives advice to women and ethnic minorities who are interested in franchising and the third is a question and answer session on the benefits and complications of multi-unit franchising.
