Storage Industry Pioneer Provides Support for Holiday Gift Collection Efforts to Benefit Families with Children

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) November 21, 2008

Door To Door Storage, Inc., a leading national provider of portable self-storage containers (http://www. doortodoor. com/storage/default. aspx? ac=PR-20081121&utm_source=prweb&utm_medium=press-release&utm_campaign=2008-11-21) and moving services (http://www. doortodoor. com/moving/default. aspx? ac=PR-20081121&utm_source=prweb&utm_medium=press-release&utm_campaign=2008-11-21), announced its participation in the 2008 Angel Tree Program with the Salvation Army of Austin, Texas. The program is part of the Salvation Army's mission to alleviate suffering and provide hope to families with children in the community.

Door To Door Storage of Austin has donated five on-site portable self-storage containers (http://www. doortodoor. com/storage/default. aspx? ac=PR-20081121&utm_source=prweb&utm_medium=press-release&utm_campaign=2008-11-21) including all rental and transportation fees to the Salvation Army for use in its 2008 Angel Tree Program. The Salvation Army identifies families in need and each Angel Tree family is interviewed by a Salvation Army representative or by a participating local agency representative. Children, ages 12 and younger, from qualifying families become Angels. Participants then select an "Angel" from the Tree and purchase a gift that can be taken to the Salvation Army Christmas Store and deposited in the storage containers donated by Door To Door. The storage units will remain on site at the store until after the holidays.

"Door To Door Storage not only understood our desire to provide Christmas assistance to many who are less fortunate, they also understood the need for prompt service, special attention to detail, and adequate storage space," said Major John Carter, Austin Metropolitan Area Command, The Salvation Army. "Throughout this entire effort, their ability to comprehend the scope of services was very much appreciated and valuable to our seasonal operation. We of the Salvation Army want to thank them in a big way."

The Angel Tree Program is one component of the Salvation Army's goal to make a difference in the lives of others. With the help of donations from supporters and through programs such as the Angel Tree, lives will continue to be uplifted, encouraged and changed for the good.

"Door To Door is honored to be a part of this effort to help families and children in the Austin community," said Annette Jacobs, president and CEO, Door To Door Storage. "Particularly at this time of year and with the economic challenges facing many, this is a meaningful effort for our company to participate in."

With the help of community sponsors, last year 7,933 children received new toys and clothing during the holiday season because of the Angel Tree program.
