7-Year Old Twins Launch “Art Hearts” Project

7-Year Old Twins Launch “Art Hearts” Project

First goal is to collect 10,000 hearts and raise $10,000 for Haitian children

Lunenburg, MA (PRWEB) February 10, 2010

Twin 7-year old girls, Kate and Emma Marinchev recently launched The Art Hearts Project. The goal of the project is to use art to help children and people who are in disaster and disadvantaged situations. The children of Haiti will be the first recipients of The Art Hearts Project. The pair are asking children and adults to create art hearts using any type of art tool, and to then send the completed artwork to them for distribution to children in Haiti. The Art Hearts Project goal is to send 10,000 hearts and $10,000 to Haiti.

There are a few different ways individuals and groups can participate:

1) Make an Art Heart using art supplies, paper (or other type of base) and your creativity.

2) Make a Donation and an Art Heart. For $2.00, a heart template can be downloaded from the Art Hearts website and then a heart can be designed using whatever art tools are chosen. All of the proceeds will be donated to the children of Haiti.

3) Purchase imprinted Art Heart t-shirts. 25% of the proceeds from each purchase will benefit Haitian children.

Completed hearts can be mailed to: Art Hearts for Haiti, c/o Let's Gogh Art, P. O. Box 664, Lunenburg, MA 01462. There is no deadline for participation. Along with the help of family and their sponsor, Let’s Gogh Art (http://www. letsgoghart. com (http://www. letsgoghart. com/art-hearts. html)), the girls will be working with a Haitian relief organization and/or Haitian orphanages to distribute the hearts and monies collected in Haiti.

The duo is also looking for a corporate sponsor who will imprint some of the heart designs they receive onto products that the Haitian children desperately need, such as water bottles, pillows and clothing.

“Let's Gogh Art is proud to be sponsoring this amazing project, and hope that through our many friends and customers, we can spread the word quickly, and help Kate and Emma collect thousands of art hearts and lots of money too. I love that the heart was chosen to frame the art…it has meaning on so many different levels, namely that art has an amazing power to heal. Throughout human history people have used art to connect with their souls and to heal a sense of loss, grief, isolation, broken hearts, loneliness, fear, despair and pain. We look forward to helping these girls collect donations and create some smiles through donated artwork in Haiti,” commented Let’s Gogh Art founder, Lynn Toomey.

About Kate and Emma
Twin 7-year old girls, Kate and Emma Marinchev were watching in frightened fascination the recent telethon, Hope for Haiti Now, along with their parents. After seeing orphaned children and the other atrocities, the girls gathered money from their piggy banks and purses and asked their mom to text a donation. They then began drawing pictures of smiles and hearts, and asked if they could be mailed to some of the orphans in Haiti. Inspired by what they created, Kate and Emma's mother challenged the girls to come up with a way that more art could be created by more children like them, and shared with those suffering in Haiti. She continued to explain that money wasn't the only way they could help. After more drawing and brainstorming, Art Hearts took form. The heart shape was chosen for all the appropriate meanings it has. The first recipients of the Art Hearts project will be children in Haiti. In the future, the pair will help other children in disaster and disadvantaged situations.
