Vermont ESGR Committee to Salute National Guardsmen, Reservists and their Supportive Employers
Patriotic event to feature US Senator Patrick J. Leahy, Major General Martha T. Rainville, Vermont National Guard Commander and Mr. Brian Lindner, Vermont ESGR State Chairman

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced today that the Vermont ESGR Committee will salute Vermont National Guardsmen, Reservists and their supportive employers on Monday, August 2nd at the Burlington Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center, 870 Williston Road, South Burlington, Vermont. The luncheon event at 11:30AM will feature Senator Patrick J. Leahy, as the keynote speaker who will be joined by Major General Martha T. Rainville, The Adjutant General of Vermont, and Brian Lindner, Vermont ESGR State Chairman.
“Saluting America’s Employers is the right thing to do, and this is the right time to do it”, said Bob Hollingsworth, ESGR Executive Director. “Many of Vermont’s employers have gone above and beyond in their support of their employees who serve in the state’s National Guard and Reserve”. He added that ESGR representatives will provide employers information to ensure compliance with the USERRA Laws, as well as suggestions on how best to manage their employees who serve their country in the Vermont National Guard and Reserve.
ESGR will bring to Burlington a NASCAR show car, known as “America’s Car” which will be displayed at the Sheraton Hotel from 10:30am to 2:30pm. All of Burlington is invited to have their picture taken with “America’s Car”, and to sign their names to several large “Support our Troops” banners to demonstrate their continued support for our deployed troops.
The goal is to gather 1.2 million signatures nationally, one for every member of the National Guard and Reserve. These banners will be sent to our servicemen and women stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia and elsewhere in the world.
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a Department of Defense volunteer organization. ESGR provides free education, consultation, and if necessary mediation for employers of Guard and Reserve employees.
