Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) January 15, 2011

“Plan Your Perfect Custom Gun” is the theme of the 27th annual Firearms Engravers & Gunmakers Exhibition that takes place Jan. 28-30, at John Ascuaga’s Nugget, in Reno/Sparks, NV.

The exhibition, a joint effort of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild and the Firearms Engravers Guild of America, is designed to showcase the work of their respective membership.

“See the finest quality work available and meet the individual makers to plan your custom gun,” organizers said, adding that the exhibition is a cost-effective way to interact with a wide variety of engravers and gunmakers in one convenient location.

In addition to ACGG and FEGA, select members of the following organizations will be featured:

American Bladesmith Society: ABS represents the cutting edge of forged blade performance and design. Its mission is preserving and promoting the ancient craft of forged knives through education, testing and certification.

Contemporary Longrifle Association: CLA is dedicated to the art of contemporary longrifles and related accoutrements made after the mid-twentieth century. Its members are collectors, makers and students.

Knifemakers Guild: “The purposes of the Guild were, and continue to be: to promote custom knives and knifemakers, to assist the knifemaker technically (and) to encourage ethical and professional business conduct,” organizers said.

Also on display will be a variety of components, including grip caps, bolt handles, wood blanks and more.

Public hours for the exhibition are Noon to 9 p. m., Friday; and 10 a. m. to 5 p. m., Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $20 per person per day. As in previous years, free seminars on a number of topics will be featured on the Monday following the three-day event.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is the displaying of ACGG Firearm #26, dubbed “A Hunter’s.470 Double Rifle,” a firearm handcrafted by an elite team selected from among its membership to showcase the art of custom gunmaking. The firearm, described as “a working double rifle, not a museum piece,” will be raffled off as part of a fund-raiser for the non-profit organization.

Ticket sales for the custom-built rifle are limited to 4,000 and cost $20 each. There is no limit to the number of tickets an individual may purchase. The winner does not have to be present to win. All state and federal laws apply, and federal tax will be collected before the firearm is delivered, organizers said.
