Storming Robots, the Only Authorized LEGO MINDSTORMS Center in NJ, offers fun-filled educational hands-on robotics programs for age 8 to 15.
It provides engaging hands-on LEGO robots workshops where children have fun time learning how to design and program robots.
Using Award winning LEGO MINDSTORMS Robotics Technology!
This technology was developed by the LEGO Company and the MIT Media Lab, and was recognized as the stepping stone for children to the real world of robotics. With this easy-to-learn, but sophisticated system, children can create a wide variety of robots from simple automated vehicles with simple motion controls to more advanced robotic “arms” that use a variety of sensors, such as light, touch, rotation, and temperature sensors.
All programming is written on a PC and “transferred” to the MINDSTORMS robot so children also get the extra benefit of acquiring or enhancing their computer skills.
Have a fun time learning how to design and program robots!
Though the idea of having a child programmed robots may sound intimidating, the LEGO MINDSTORMS System provides an easy and fun experience. Storming Robots’ workshops offer a friendly teamwork-learning environment, and most children find it very intuitive within a short period of time.
Adapt curriculum developed by renowned robotics institutions!
Much of its curriculum was developed at institutions such as the Robotics Academy at Carnegie Mellon University and the Robotics Education Projects at NASA. Storming Robots further develops programs appropriate to age as low as 8. It also participates in various related communities to include technology events which focus on software and educational program development involving LEGO RCX (the brain of the robotics kits).
Dynamite and solid learning tool for novice and experts!
The LEGO Robotics System provides very easy, intuitive and fun software tools for the little ones as young as 8 years old. The programming environment was developed by the Tufts University’s Center of Engineering Educational Outreach Organization.
These robotics devices are much more than meet the eye. It also contains a wide scope of advanced features which will offer challenging fun to high school, as well as college level individuals.
Be Fascinated by Your Own Built LEGO Robots
The popularity of LEGO among children is undisputable. Most people remember the wonderful feeling of completing their own LEGO construction with their own hands! It is even more fun programming their LEGO Robots to move on command. However, don't think it is a trivial task. It requires planning, problem solving, analysis and programming.
Storming Robots’ skilled instructors will help the children to turn these tasks to extreme fun. Under proper instruction, children further develop their applied mathematics skill, fundamental engineering concepts, strategic thinking, and programming knowledge. Children learn robotics by integrating basic mechanics, mathematics, design and programming.
Highlights of Storming Robots’ robotics programs:
Hands-on LEGO robots exploration, including building, understanding the mechanics behind the robots and programming. Build Robots from scratch and program them to do a wide variety of tasks Engage in friendly contests. Some examples of contests: Robot speed race. “Sumobots” where one robot has to push the other outside a ring. Communication between robots. Robot laser tag. Stress on teamwork. Strengthen analytical and strategic thinking skill. Inspire children's interests in robotics and science technologies by developing their intellect in fundamental engineering concepts, mathematics, strategic thinking, and problem solving.
Programs offered at Storming Robots that children age 8 to 16 will find fun with science:
RoboClub School breaks RoboCamp (such as Memorial Day, winter and summer break) Customized after school workshops at school or on-site Classes for Home schoolers Group activities customized for organizations such as scouts. Day activities for schools’ science field trips Birthday Parties
Storming Robots sponsors its RoboClub to participate in the FIRST LEGO League NJ State Tournament.
In order to promote awareness of science with robotics, Storming Robots is sponsoring a Robotics Youth Club for children aged between 9 and 14. The center provides all the latest software, computers, and sufficient amount of LEGO MINDSTORMS Robotics components for members to conduct their robotics activities and exploration. Membership fee is very affordable, and meeting time is extremely flexible. Registration is available online at http://www. storming-robots. com (http://www. storming-robots. com), or via email challenge@storming-robots. com, or phone (908) 595-1010.
The FIRST LEGO League is an internationally known robotics program for children. Annual tournaments allow teams to conduct hands-on robotics design and authentic scientific research. At the end of the State Tournament, participants may be invited to take part in the National Tournament as well.
Some of the fun and captivating activities include:
Create and program a model “House of the Future” with Robotic security and automation. “Amusement Park” workshop where children create robotic bumper cars and automated merry-go-rounds. “Mission Mars” workshop where children program a Mars Rover that can find and save astronauts stranded on the planet Mars. Smart 6-leg walking bug project where children build and program this cute bug to mimic a real bug’s walking motion and behavior, such as running away from light. Program your robot to play one's favorite tune, e. g.Fur Elise.
