MetaMetrics Named to List of Fastest Growing Research Triangle Companies

Durham-based educational measurement company earns 2007 Fast 50 Award From "Triangle Business Journal."

Durham, NC (PRWEB) November 7, 2007

MetaMetrics® Inc. was recently recognized as one of the fastest growing private companies in the Research Triangle, as part of the "Triangle Business Journal's" annual Fast 50 Awards. 2007 marks the Durham-based educational measurement company's entrée onto the business journal's list of rapidly growing companies. MetaMetrics (http://www. metametricsinc. com) saw a 64-percent growth in revenue over the past three years. This honor follows closely on the heels of MetaMetrics' selection as one of the top medium-sized Research Triangle companies to work for in the "Triangle Business Journal's" 2007 Best Places to Work Awards.

"This has been a great year for MetaMetrics. As our company nears its 25th anniversary, it continues to grow as educators adopt our measurement frameworks as tools for linking student assessment with instruction and improving student achievement," said Malbert Smith III, Ph. D., president, MetaMetrics. "We are proud to be recognized as both a rapidly growing company and a great place to work by the 'Triangle Business Journal.'"

Founded in 1984 by Smith and A. Jackson Stenner, Ph. D., MetaMetrics is the developer of the widely adopted Lexile Framework® for Reading (http://www. lexile. com), The Quantile Framework® for Mathematics and the recently launched Lexile Framework for Writing. These educational measurement tools are used by educators around the world to link assessment with instruction. In addition, the company offers a variety of customized consulting services and professional development, including its annual conference for educators using its measurement frameworks.

The Fast 50 Award rankings were determined by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, who evaluated local companies based on a formula that includes both dollar growth and percentage rate of growth over a three-year period. To be considered for the Fast 50 Award, a company must have had at least $3 million in revenue in 2006.

"Each of the Fast 50 companies has contributed a great deal to the Triangle community," said Charlene Grunwaldt, publisher, "Triangle Business Journal." "They are very dynamic businesses representing diverse industries. The stories of their successes are very compelling."

MetaMetrics and the 49 other Fast 50 companies were profiled in an in-depth special section of the "Triangle Business Journal's" Nov. 2 issue.
