Rocky Hill, CT (PRWEB) March 2, 2006

The Connecticut Student Loan Foundation (CSLF®) is pleased to announce that it has joined with The First Tee® of Connecticut to establish the CSLF/The First Tee of Connecticut Scholarship. Two deserving Connecticut students, Daniel Martinez of Hartford, CT and Andrew Tan of Rocky Hill, CT, will each receive a $2,500 scholarship to be used toward their college tuition.

The CSLF/The First Tee of Connecticut Scholarship was created to support students involved in the Connecticut First Tee golf program, whose mission is to impact the lives of young people throughout Connecticut by providing programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. Scholarships are awarded to students who participate in The First Tee of Connecticut program, demonstrate academic excellence, are actively involved in their communities, and plan to continue their education at the college/university level.

Daniel Martinez, a resident of Hartford, CT and student at Northwest Catholic High School, is a member of the National Honor Society and has made the honor roll every year during his high school career. Aside from his academic achievements, Daniel has also been an asset to his high school basketball team as both an Assistant Coach and Team Manager. He has taken an active role in the school year book, Tech Club, and Freshman Contacts as well. Daniel has been an employee at Golfers Warehouse since 2004.

Andrew Tan, a resident of Rocky Hill, CT and student at Rocky Hill High School, has been nominated student of the month on several occasions. Andrew has made the high honor roll for the past several years and is a member of the National Honor Society, International Honor Society, and Tri-M Music Honor Society. Andrew is the Founder of his own Internet services company, AYTAN, which designs websites and handles all aspects of web programming. Andrew is involved in many extracurricular activities including Cross Country, Track, Jazz Band, and Marching Band. Andrew is a certified piano teacher who is currently teaching 8 students.

CSLF is pleased to recognize these outstanding students for their achievements. The scholarships are scheduled to be awarded to Mr. Martinez and Mr. Tan at the Buick Championship PGA Tour event in June.
