UK PR Company Punch Communications has expanded its team of consultants to eight and is continuing to recruit due to significant number of account wins and a steady stream of new business enquiries despite the currently tough economic climate.
Christie Hobbs joins the team as its latest recruit, moving from Marbella - where she ran numerous travel, lifestyle campaigns for a Spanish PR Company - back to her roots in the East Midlands. Christie joins the team as a Senior Account Executive and will be working alongside the team on a broad range of accounts, from automotive, to consumer, to technology clients.
With the business having grown around 500% in 18 months, the agency is also currently eyeing other expansion options, in terms of additional offices in other UK cities. The agency is intentionally top heavy, with six of the current team of eight being either Account Manager or Account Directors, ensuring that the business is able to offer senior consultancy and draw upon extensive experience to deliver campaign success.
As the business expands, it has diversified into a number of relatively new sectors - including Automotive and Education, which are both specialisms that the business offers alongside both high technology, consumer technology and lifestyle/FMCG clients. The business also works with clients in the construction, sports, music and gaming sectors, amongst others.
In particular, the team is a strong advocate of leading edge communications tools, such as Twitter and Digg for example. The team has a wide usage of social networking, from the obvious (Linked In, Plaxo and Facebook) to those that are less mainstream, such as Xing, Naymz, Plaxo, Ecademy, Econsultancy, Delicious, Qype and TripIt.
Pete Goold, Managing Director of Punch Communications, commented:
"We take blogging and social media very seriously as a company, not for its own sake but as we strongly believe that the communications world is changing rapidly and it's hugely important to me that we are at the fore of that change. Working with a number of leading web 2.0 clients certainly helps but the point is that many of the tools we use are becoming increasingly mainstream and, I believe, in a few years time, practices such as micro-blogging will be prevalent across a great many more corporate sites."
The team has a range of blog sites, both on the Punch corporate site and personally, across multiple blogging platforms, including Wordpress, Blogger and Typepad.
Pete Goold added:
"Another key differentiator for us is the number of non-PR Companies that are looking to partner with us, either because they don't have a PR function or because they are looking to join up their PR and web functions, with our online PR service. This works particularly well when we also have a requirement - such as the development of a website or a graphic design requirement for example - that the partner can in turn fulfil. Having developed some highly beneficial two way partnerships with businesses in the past, we are currently exploring numerous relationships".
With five new clients won in the last six weeks, Punch is building on the success of current campaigns, having achieved coverage for clients across the national media in the last few weeks, from The Sunday Mirror, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, The Financial Times and The Guardian to coverage in Empire, BBC Homes, Saga magazine, along with numerous leading blogs and websites.
