Singapore (PRWEB) November 14, 2007

Global Entrepolis @ Singapore 2007 (GES 2007) today got off to a good start, targeting an international audience of industry and business leaders. In this fifth year, GES 2007 is based around the three central themes of Global Gathering, Growth Opportunities and Green Initiatives. GES 2007 is a premier international business networking event, being held at Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre from 12th-15th November 2007.

"GES is the one big business networking platform where leaders from all over the world come here to exchange ideas and forge business partnerships. I am pleased to see a more diverse GES this year with representation across various geographies, from both the public and private sectors," said Mr Ko Kheng Hwa, Managing Director, Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). "The many private and public sector participants coming from diverse geographies see great value in attending GES and by their presence, also enhance the attractiveness of GES," he added.

The conference sessions at GES 2007 commenced this morning with a day-long seminar hosted by the Economic Development Group of Ukraine, highlighting the nation's role in the global innovative economy. This was the first track under International Business Meets, a series of seminars focused on investments abroad.

Commenting on Ukraine's global aspirations, Andrii Karpenko, President of the Economic Development Group said, "Ukraine and Singapore have much in common. We consider Singapore's experience to be instructive. Singapore has made economic breakthrough in a short period of time and Ukraine intends to do the same."

Ukraine today also announced the formation of the UkraineRus Accelerator, the first business incubator from the Commonwealth of Independent States. The team has high expectations with regard to offshore sciences where Ukrainian scientists and engineers can cooperate directly with Singaporean colleagues in joint scientific laboratories to solve scientific and technical tasks that can then be commercialized. In total, UkraineRus Accelerator's portfolio includes about 70 offers for Singapore and Southeast Asia, for which it is seeking partnership to implement projects.

The winners of MAXA were announced today at GES 2007. MAXA represents the highest global standards in manufacturing innovation and excellence and is presented by EDB, McKinsey & Company and the Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA).

Tetra Pak Jurong Pte Ltd was selected as this year's MAXA winner, with overall excellence in innovation, operations and sustainability. In addition, Kenwood Electronics Technologies Singapore was selected for the Innovation Award, while 3M Singapore Pte Ltd and Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Co.
