Wilmington, DE (Vocus) December 15, 2009 –
Dawn Career Institute is launching its first online courses next month beginning with two programs in the ever-expanding healthcare field. The new online format will present programs leading to diplomas in either Medical Billing & Coding or Medical Administrative Assistant.
Similar to programs available at its ground campuses, Dawn Career Institute’s online courses will provide students with the interactive, student-focused attention that leads graduates to new careers or advancement in the healthcare field. In partnership with ComCourse Learning Solutions of Santa Cruz California, DCI offers its online programs on a best-in-breed learning management system with proven stability and ease of use offering a complete experience for students. The ComCourse foundation has been tested by hundreds of thousands of users of 70 countries.
Adding this online learning opportunity into its current program offerings allows adult learners increased flexibility for completing an education. The online component will add great value to the learning process, and will enable students to integrate past and present work as well as life experiences.
"Typically today’s students are juggling work and family schedules while trying to forward themselves and meet their own career aspirations," said Cheryl Zapata, Executive Vice President and Co-owner of Dawn Career Institute. “Online learning programs are a way we can extend our programs to students whose lives didn’t fit into our already flexible offerings. With online programs, our students will be able to follow through on the education they’ve always wanted according to their schedule, not ours.”
The Medical Billing and Coding program can help students understand complex medical billing and health insurance tasks so they can be an integral part of the healthcare industry. Graduates are trained to prepare medical records using ICD-9/CPT coding and learn the basic concepts of anatomy, physiology, clinical medicine, and medical terminology.
Students in the Medical Administrative Assistant program learn how to function in a critical role within healthcare facilities. Graduates are capable of transferring files between healthcare facilities, collecting patients' medical histories, mediating between doctors' offices and insurance agencies, and setting patient schedules.
Dawn Career Institute currently offers a number of other programs at their campus in Wilmington, Del., for those interested in training in the healthcare, wellness and business fields. Programs offered include:
