BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- GSMA Mobile World Congress -- ACCESS CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile and beyond-PC markets, today announced solutions for Internet and mobile markets that extend the company's unique range of technologies enabling a true connected life--from core networks to platforms to Internet technologies and applications, to solutions for new categories of Internet-enabled devices such as portable navigation devices, set top boxes and IPTV. Celebrating "Solutions for the Open Mobile Economy," ACCESS is demonstrating technologies to meet the needs of today's customers that enable differentiated, value-added solutions and services.
Highlights of the ACCESS exhibit include demonstrations of the ACCESS Linux Platform(TM) family of solutions for state-of-the-art as well as mainstream devices, and for mature as well as emerging markets.
ACCESS Linux Platform v3.0, with an advanced UI engine that allows Hollywood-style effects and transitions using high performance graphics rendering, will be demonstrated running on the Texas Instruments Zoom(TM) OMAP34x-II Mobile Development Platform. The ACCESS Linux Platform v3.0 advanced UI engine architecture allows deep customization of the user interface without modifying applications code. It enables more consistent user experiences, simultaneous rendering of data from various sources (PIMs, browser, messaging, videos, and photos) and concurrent rendering of 2.5D and 3D graphical environments. ACCESS Linux Platform v3.0 also delivers on ACCESS' commitment to provide LiMo Foundation compliance.
ACCESS Linux Platform(TM) mini, a complete mobile OS including middleware, applications and UI engine and targeted at mid-level, cost-efficient devices, will be demonstrated on a portable navigation device and a CMMB-standard multimedia phone with mobile TV.
"The handset market is polarising, with vendors focusing on high-end handsets for mature western markets and lower specified handsets for emerging markets," said Adam Leach, principal analyst, Ovum. "This is challenging platform vendors to provide solutions which can scale from mid-range devices through to the high-end. Platform vendors can achieve this through a single proposition or by providing software optimised for each market."
NetFront(TM) Widgets, the comprehensive widget solution, will be demonstrated on several platforms including ACCESS Linux Platform, Windows Mobile, S60, BREW, PC and TV. In addition to mobile devices, NetFront Widgets will be demonstrated on a Windows PC and used to synchronize widget content between a PC and Windows Mobile device. Attendees will also be able to see demonstrations of the innovative multi-desktop capability that takes widget customization to a new dimension, and content that has been developed based on the Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP) BONDI standard.
ACCESS(TM) DTV Suite, ACCESS will be exhibiting its menu of advanced home-network solutions. Attendees will be introduced to a DTV solution developed with integrated ACCESS technologies that allows users to access seamlessly various types of content on a TV, including videos, music and web contents, as easily as if they were just switching TV programs.
Dr. Tomihisa Kamada, ACCESS' new president and co-chief executive officer, will be joining other prominent speakers at the "Mobilising Open Source" session of Mobile World Congress on Wednesday, February 18. Dr. Kamada's presentation on the topic "Open Source as the building block for efficient and cost-effective innovation" will take place at 2:40pm, in Hall 5, Auditorium 3 of the exhibition complex.
The ACCESS booth at Mobile World Congress is located at CY10 in the Courtyard Area, Fira de Barcelona. ACCESS will also showcase ACCESS Linux Platform v3.0 on the LiMo Foundation stand at Mobile World Congress, located at 8B135 in Hall 8 and at the Texas Instruments stand located at 8A84 in Hall 8.
