Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) June 11, 2006

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Executive Master’s Program for physicians has been named the best in the country by Modern Healthcare magazine. The ranking was announced in the magazine’s May issue.

“This is real tribute to the quality of our Executive Master’s Program,” said Peggy Leatt, PhD, dean of the Department of Health Policy and Administration. “Physicians continue to recognize that UNC offers one of the best educational environments for healthcare anywhere in the world.”

The ranking is based on a list of programs awarding MBA or similar degrees in courses that focus on physicians and is offered via distance learning. Programs were ranked on number of days students must spend on campus, the age of the program, the length of time to complete, and cost of total tuition.

The Executive Master’s Program offers two degrees – Master in Health Administration (MHA) and Master in Public Health (MPH). All of the coursework is conducted online, with the exception of eight days during the school year in which the students attend orientation, classes and other programs on campus.

The Department of Health Policy and Administration is one of seven departments within the highly-acclaimed School of Public Health. In addition to being one of the oldest departments in the country dedicated to the study of public health and healthcare administration, the department is also consistently rated as one of the top three departments in the U. S. by U. S. News & World Report.
