SunHawk Adolescent Recovery Center Awarded Three-Year CARF Accreditation
International accrediting body officials make note of SunHawk’s “dedicated and professional” staff maintaining “clear and open communication with families”
St. George, UT (PRWEB) September 28, 2010
CARF International (http://www. carf. org/home/) has announced that SunHawk Adolescent Recovery Center (http://www. sunhawkrecovery. com/) (“SunHawk”), a licensed adolescent substance abuse residential treatment center for teens ages 13-17, has been accredited for a period of three years. This is the first accreditation that the international accrediting body has awarded to SunHawk.
This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows SunHawk Adolescent Recovery Center’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a three-year accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.
“We congratulate SunHawk for their achievement of CARF accreditation,” said Phil Herschman, president of Aspen Education Group (http://www. aspeneducation. com), the parent company of SunHawk. “SunHawk focuses on the rehabilitation of teens struggling with alcohol and substance use, so acquiring CARF accreditation was very important to us and an achievement that we appreciate for its reflection on our top-notch services.”
The CARF accrediting officials found strengths in many areas of SunHawk’s operations, noting that “staff members are dedicated and professional” as well as “genuine and caring when providing services to the persons served.” Officials added, “There is a strong sense of teamwork among the multidisciplinary team.”
SunHawk was recognized for encouraging teens to develop their own sense of spirituality “including participation in many community projects and the twelve-step program.” Officials noted that “family involvement is highly encouraged” and that “staff members maintain clear and open communication with families.”
CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
