Dora Pettiford Announces the Publication of Her New Book, "Justice Denied"

"Justice Denied", a true story, specifically depicts the inherent racism; employment discrimination; and retaliation that Dora Pettiford struggled to overcome during her employment with a North Carolina state government agency. It addresses her search for justice through all three of the federal courts: U. S. District Court; U. S. Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit; and the U. S. Supreme Court. It includes factual evidence used to support the violation of her civil rights under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; and failure of the U. S. Justice System to uphold the law, and correct the wrong doings.

"Justice Denied" chronicles the author's real life experiences with, and massive struggle to overcome racism, employment discrimination, and retaliation in a North Carolina state government work place; the virtual and inconceivable destruction of a state employee at the hands of the N. C. state Attorney General's Office; and the denial of justice in a federal court case (228 Federal Supplement, 2d Series, 677 (M. D.N. C. 2002). The author, through self representation, clearly saw the violation of her civil rights upheld by all three of the highest courts in the United States: U. S. District Court; U. S. Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit; and the U. S. Supreme Court.

"Justice Denied" addresses the inherent racism that Dora and other Black Americans have struggled to overcome for nearly a century in our nation; the scars of past and present racial injustice; blatant negligence, and failure of the the U. S. Justice System to uphold the law, and sanction violators of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended. In the book, the author raised questions about accountability of federal judges; and where minorities can obtain justice, if not through the highest courts in the United States.

The book focuses attention to the continuing inability of many White Americans to move beyond race in this 21st century. Even after our recent national historic election, minorities are still downtrodden in a land that is supposed to be of the free. If we can face death together on the battlefields of foreign lands, we should certainly be able to live together in harmony in these United States.

John Quinones, Reporter of ABC News presented a segment on racism against minorities in the United States during primetime on January 6, 2009. The segment helped to validate racism as a serious social problem, and need to be seriously addressed. It lends credibility and greater validity to her book, "Justice Denied." We have even seen racial attacks on our new President Barack Obama. The time for change according to President Obama, truly is now.

One reviewer wrote "the author's willingness to share the most painful episodes of her life in a candid and forthright manner could serve to forge a solid bond with the reader."
