Newberg, OR (Vocus/PRWEB) January 13, 2011
Adult learners interested in finishing their bachelor’s degree in a supportive cohort-based format are invited to learn more about George Fox University’s adult degree programs in Portland and Salem at a series of upcoming information meetings.
Meetings at the university’s Portland Center near Tigard are scheduled Wednesday, Jan. 19, on Monday, Feb. 7, and on Tuesday, March 15. A session at the Salem site is set for Thursday, Feb. 24. All meetings begin at 6 p. m. and last about an hour.
The Portland Center is located at 12753 S. W. 68th Ave. #168, in Portland. The school’s Salem location is 4600 25th Ave. N. E., Suite 150A, in Salem.
The university offers bachelor’s degrees for working adults in social and behavioral sciences, technology management, project management, management and organizational leadership, health administration and elementary education. For details on cost, scheduling, and how many credits are required for admission and for graduation, visit the university’s adult degree programs website at georgefox. edu/adult-degree.
The deadline to apply for summer cohorts is April 2. This summer the university will start two cohorts in management and organizational leadership, one in the traditional one-night-a-week format and another in a blended online/face-to-face cohort. All majors will be offered in the fall semester.
George Fox’s degree-completion programs are designed for adult students who wish to finish their bachelor’s degree in an accelerated format. Most students who enroll complete their degree in as few as 16 months.
Classes are taught in a seminar style and are writing intensive. Class activities include simulations and discussions that draw from students’ personal and professional backgrounds to achieve a broader understanding of the material. Each course builds on the next so students can maximize the impact of the learning.
General education/elective courses are available for students who have fewer than the required credits needed to apply to the adult degree major. These courses are offered in a weeknight or weekend format and meet once a week for eight weeks, with two eight-week terms in each 16-week semester. Many of these classes will fill a student’s need for general education or elective credits.
