Learning Components© to Help the Handicapped

Learning Components© to Help the Handicapped

(PRWEB) November 19, 2000

BRONX, NY - November 22 , 2000 Science Academy Software®, a developer of educational software, announced today an upgrade to Learning Components (LC22).

Learning Components, introduced July 2000, are a collection of applets that assist in the delivery of information, testing, tutoring, and evaluation. This upgrade, supports keyboard navigation that will allow the handicapped to be tested, tutored, and assessed without the use of a mouse which may be difficult for them to use. Other features new to LC22 include, "Javascript Extensions" which are webpages that facilitate the copy, printing, or mailing of test results to the mail host.

Use of Learning Components© is a major benefit to educational institutions, training organizations, distance learners, and now the handicapped.

Users, webmasters and educators, can create their own interactive tests, tutorials, or presentations simply by changing parameters to the applets HTML code and adding the content (text, images, sound, etc.). The presentation is handled by the applet at the client via the browser. This is particularly useful to people and organizations who have a website but don't have CGI, server access, or programming resources and who would like to use and expand the richness of the WWW as an educational platform. Users get functionality, an aesthetically pleasing design, ease of use, security, and low cost.

With a little knowledge of HTML, users can create their own tests, tutorials, or presentations on the Web, network or desktop. To use them, users add or change applet parameters in the HTML then add content. This is a low cost alternative for schools and companies for rolling-out their own student/employee training on their website.

You will need Windows and a java capable browser. Please note that because of latency issues (connection type and network traffic), the program's performance may vary.

Science Academy Software's Learning Components suite of applets sell for $490 per site/server/cpu.
