BRIDGEPORT, CT (PRWEB) October 6, 2004
Flight: Where Adventures Take Off! A national traveling exhibit developed by The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is landing in Fairfield County by popular demand.
Since it premiered in 1996, this exhibit has thrilled audiences as it traveled across the country. Flight was designed to attract all ages by combining real aircraft, simulations, history and interactive science into one dynamic display.
The magic begins as you enter the Flight exhibit. Sit in the cockpit of a Gulfstream jet and learn the controls. Not all planes need motorized engines to fly. You are the engine when you climb into the Gossamer Condor, the plane that pioneered human-powered flight across the English Channel in the 1980s. Imagine the thrill of piloting a helicopter as you sit in the bubble cockpit of a Bell 47. Test your wings for lift as you are "blown" away in the wind tunnel room. If hot air balloons interest you, discover the fine points of controlling the air temperature and release time on a scale model hot air balloon. And if history is your ticket, you'll see the past made real when you explore a 1941 Boeing Stearman PT-17 open cockpit biplane, the stick-and-rudder aircraft traditionally favored by aerial acrobats.
No air travel would be complete without in-flight entertainment, and Flight is no exception! Meet flying heroes and heroines as actors portray Jackie Cochran and the Wright Brothers. And watch video displays throughout the exhibit that provide exhilarating information about 16 aviation history makers.
Delight all your senses as you navigate through a miniature airport designed for hands-on flight training by young and old alike in Flight: Where Adventures Take Off!
