Riverside, CA (PRWEB) June 10, 2008

Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management kicks off National Homeownership Month at the company's new SHINE Center, which stands for "Sustaining Homeownership in the Inland Empire". Springboard will hold their monthly free homebuyer education class this Saturday, June 14. Class time will be 9 a. m. to 5 p. m., at the SHINE Center located at 1605 Spruce Street, Suite 100. Seating is limited, so those interested in attending can call 951-781-0114 x7820 or email education @ credit. org to receive more information or reserve a place.

"The most important decision homebuyers will make is not which house to buy, but rather which loan is best for their budget and their needs," said Todd Emerson, President & CEO Springboard. "Our goal in this class is to educate consumers so they better understand what goes into owning a home, the home buying process, and how much they can truly afford when considering a home purchase or refinancing. Information covered in the class will help families manage their money well and stay in their homes for a long time," Emerson said.

Homebuyer education is an important part of Springboard's ongoing commitment to helping consumers achieve the dream of homeownership. Prospective buyers can learn about what makes up a mortgage loan, how to compare different mortgage products, how to work with lenders and real estate professionals, and how to find a home and a loan that are right for their needs. The class is approved by HUD, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and completion of the 8-hour course may count towards educational requirements for local homebuyer assistance programs.

For homeowners facing the possibility of foreclosure, Springboard also offers free foreclosure prevention counseling where consumers are made aware of the options and solutions that are available to help them avoid foreclosure. Springboard is not a lender, but a HUD approved comprehensive housing counseling agency.

Springboard offers housing counseling, monthly homebuyer education seminars, foreclosure prevention counseling, landlord/tenant counseling, post homebuyer education and reverse mortgage counseling.
