Denver, Colo. (PRWEB) July 27, 2009

GlobaLinks Learning Abroad (http://www. globalinksabroad. org/), a provider of educational programs in destinations across the globe, today announced a new, comprehensive agreement with the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (http://www1.umn. edu/twincities/index. php), to serve as its "University of Record" for students returning from its AustraLearn / AsiaLearn / EuroLearn semester, year and summer programs.

The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (UMTC), one of the largest public research universities in the country, ranks 4th nationally among top institutions awarding credit for study abroad, according to the Open Doors 2008, an annual survey by the Institute Of International Education (IIE).

"This partnership reflects the excellent relationship the University of Minnesota Learning Abroad Center has developed with GlobaLinks Learning Abroad," said Martha Johnson, Director of Education Abroad for the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, "and our confidence in the quality of the universities they represent globally."

Based outside Denver in Westminster, Colo., GlobaLinks Learning Abroad provides summer abroad, semester abroad (http://www. australearn. org/Programs/Semester_and_Year_Abroad/), and other specialized education abroad programs to students from more than 600 universities and colleges across the United States and Canada. Programs are offered through AustraLearn (featuring programs in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji via 35 partner universities), AsiaLearn (featuring programs in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand via seven partner universities) and EuroLearn (featuring programs in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Italy and The Netherlands via nine partner universities.)

"GlobaLinks Learning Abroad is thrilled to have the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, as our University of Record," said Cynthia Banks, GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Executive Director. "This agreement means students returning from a summer, semester or year abroad (http://www. eurolearn. org/) have the option of obtaining a transcript from an accredited U. S. institution when a U. S. transcript is required by the home university."

Specifically, the partnership calls on UMTC to evaluate and ensure academic rigor and compatibility of individual courses taken by students studying abroad via the more than 50 partner universities of AustraLearn / AsiaLearn / EuroLearn. The evaluations ensure the host-university courses meet the educational standards defined by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), one of six regional accrediting associations in the United States.

Future programs of GlobaLinks Learning Abroad will be evaluated by UMTC and added to the current list. For more information on this partnership, please contact Cynthia Banks at 1-303-446-2214 ext 103.
