Henley-Putnam University Hosts Information Security Webinar

Henley-Putnam University Hosts Information Security Webinar

Webinar Series Tackles Potential Threats Posed by Social Media Networks

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) August 23, 2010

How safe is the information we share through Facebook? Could the free exchange of personal data through public domains impact our safety? These questions and more will be answered during Henley-Putnam University's FREE August webinar, Insider's Guide to Open-Source Security Risks. Leading the webinar will be Colonel Michael Angley, former U. S. Air Force Special Agent and Senior Military Advisor to Henley-Putnam University.

Insider's Guide to Open-Source Security Risks presents information about the dangers inherent in publicly available information, and reinforces the importance of sound Operations Security (OPSEC) planning and processes.

"Our country prides itself in the basic freedoms guaranteed its citizens by the Constitution, but the unbridled exercise of free speech can also become a handicap," said Col. Angley. "Information that we, as Americans, make available in the public domain can be aggregated over time by adversaries who may use this information to harm us."

During the free webinar, Col. Angley will examine the proliferation of various social media networks, foreign perception of American culture, how data aggregation works, operations security, and immediate challenges facing our country with emerging social media platforms.

Insider's Guide to Open-Source Security Risks will take place Wednesday, August 25, at 4:00 PM EDT (1:00 PM PDT). Those interested in participating in the webinar should register at https://www2.gotomeeting. com/register/882714610 (https://www2.gotomeeting. com/register/882714610).
