Colón & Associates, LLC, a Northern Virginia development consulting firm, welcomes Joann Gilbert as its Executive Vice President for Marketing and Special Events.
We know Joann’s expertise will enhance the efforts of Colón & Associates in its mission to ensure human and civil rights nationally and internationally, and to provide educational opportunity for minority and disadvantaged populations.
Before joining Colón & Associates, Joann Gilbert served as National Director of Special Events at the United Negro College Fund (“UNCF”) where she managed UNCF’s largest annual fundraiser, An Evening of Stars (“AEOS”), and its entire production budget. AEOS raised approximately $13 million annually and boasts such prominent celebrities as Quincy Jones, Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, Denyce Graves, Celine Dion, and Debbie Allen.
Joann also created and managed UNCFÂ’s Celebrity Golf and Tennis Tournament achieving more than $750,000 in sponsorship and attracting such top sports figures as Clyde Drexler, Bill Russell, Stuart Scott, Venus Williams and Mal Vai Washington. Each year, responses to the Tournament were overwhelmingly positive with attendance typically at full capacity.
Prior to UNCF, Joann Gilbert began her career as Special Assistant to Congressman William H. Gray, III in the United States House of Representatives where she planned and arranged special events for constituent groups and served as liaison to the White House, Congressional Members and staff, Executive agencies, Heads of State, and constituent groups.
