Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care, an interactive online continuing education course, is now up and live on the Web. HealthMark Multimedia LLC™ announces that this interactive and innovative course was approved for 25 hours of CE credit by the Maryland Nurses Association and 25 CECH (Continuing Education Contact Hours) by The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. Following the rules of reciprocity, nurses and health educators throughout the United States will receive approved credit hours to meet their state nursing license requirements. At their convenience whenever and wherever they have access to the Web, nurses can log onto HealthMark's secure Web site: https://nurse-ces-stat. com (https://nurse-ces-stat. com)
This interactive Web-based course uses practice-based scenarios to introduce and then assess individual topics. The multiple-choice question format tailors feedback to the users' responses. Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care enables nurses and health educators to hear and visualize real-world problems, to read text supported by reference links and key points, and then to test themselves on each interactive scenario. Research shows that practice-based learning engages professional users at their level of expertise and at their own comfortable pace.

The course, Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care, is divided into 11 modules. Health care professionals can opt for the approach or information they need: individual and institutional practice, professional and lay cancer caregivers, multicultural and multiethnic approaches to nontraditional medicine, and full discussions of the efficacy and safety of the major complementary therapies. Downloadable reference lists, practice guidelines, and assessment worksheets support and reinforce learning and applying skills and knowledge to health care practice. This multimedia approach to professional education helps nurses see and hear it, learn it, and put it into practice.

Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care was developed under Phase I and Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants from the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care is designed to provide health care providers with medically sound, evidence-based information on the use of complementary therapies by patients with cancer.
