The Convenient Care Association (CCA) and SMARTcare, Inc. have teamed up to provide CCA member clinicians with a unique tool to educate their patients about how to manage illnesses and conditions. The SMARTcare™ counseling tool provides Convenient Care operators and clinicians with a database of consumer-friendly education on managing common illnesses and conditions, and a reference guide to over-the-counter (OTC) medications to treat symptoms.

“This tool can enhance the already high-quality health care provided by convenient care clinics across the country,” says Tine Hansen-Turton, CCA Executive Director. “SMARTcare can help clinicians teach their patients how to take better care of themselves and their families after they leave the clinic.”
Ken DeBaene, SMARTcare Chief Marketing Officer explains, “SMARTcare is a unique digital platform designed to advance the promise of accessible, affordable, quality health care at convenient care, retail, and worksite clinics.” Clinicians can access SMARTcare at the point-of-care to get straight-forward, actionable patient education materials and detailed information on OTC medicines. Clinicians can print take-home sheets with practical ‘after-care’ information and preventive steps that patients can follow at home.

The SMARTcare tool is now available to CCA members on the organization’s new CCA Clinician Community portal, an online community and education platform for Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and other health care providers working in the Convenient Care setting and beyond. "The CCA Clinician Community portal will assist our clinicians in having access to the most current clinical and quality information available to them," said Lisa Loscalzo, immediate past President of the CCA.

SMARTcare educational content is provided by The Foundation for HealthSMART Consumers™, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the mission of empowering a new generation of health care consumers to maintain their health, prevent illness and deal with minor ailments as they arise.
