Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) December 15, 2006

Deborah Stroman, a PhD student at Capella University (www. capella. edu), an accredited online university, has received one of Maryland's Top Minority Business Enterprise Awards for Soulful Golf, Inc. (www. soulfulgolf. com), a golf event planning company she co-founded in 2001. The award is presented by Maryland's Governor's Office of Minority Affairs (GOMA) for outstanding achievement in business development, client satisfaction, professional affiliations and community involvement. Nearly 800 applicants from throughout Maryland applied for the award this year.

Stroman is earning a PhD in organization and management through Capella's School of Business and Technology. Capella serves more than 16,000 students, and more than 120 companies -- such as Boeing, Johnson & Johnson, Farmers Insurance and Xerox -- have selected Capella as an education provider and offer tuition discounts and reimbursement for their employees.

Soulful Golf promotes programs that increase the presence of minorities and women in the sport of golf. It provides new, occasional and avid golfers with the opportunity to participate in events such as instructional clinics, outings, as well as competition through local, regional and national tournaments. The organization works with more than 100 golf events each year.

"Most business leaders know the importance of playing golf. Our focus allows people to connect with the game in an informal and fun way," Stroman says.
