A unique partnership between the Communitelligence Learning Academy and the Institute for Communication Technology Management (CTM), is conducting the first research on resistance to the "Millennial generation" social media technologies such as blogs, podcasts, social networks, online video, RSS, wikis and micromedia that are penetrating the corporate world.

LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) May 5, 2008

The Communitelligence & USC 2008 Social Media Resistance Survey is now live. Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, IT and business professionals are encouraged to take the brief online survey.

"Media pundits have speculated that many enterprises have resisted these broad-based, peer-to-peer architectures, hoping to preserve proprietary information and control their marketing messages," says Morley Winograd, Executive Director, Institute for Communication Technology Management (CTM), University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business. "No objective data exists, however, to quantify this corporate resistance or measure whether the resistance is fading as companies better realize the potential marketing and productivity benefits. Using an online survey process, CTM and Communitelligence hope to establish the first data on this topic, to enable more substantial and rigorous academic research in the future."

"Communitelligence is excited to be a partner in this unique research project," says John Gerstner, President of the Communitelligence Learning Academy, which produces the Executing Social Media Conference & Workshops series (next conference in Los Angeles May 21-22, 2008). "Resistance to social media programs is often brought up during our conferences. This research will help surface where the pain points are and focus the discussion around findings."

Preliminary results will be shared at the third Executing Social Media Interactive Conference & Workshops in Los Angeles May 21-22, which includes Social Shuffle brainstorming, interactive workshops, and valuable business insights from a star lineup of experts and practitioners.

Executing Social Media gives public relations and corporate communications professionals a better understanding of how to integrate blogs, podcasts, social networking and new media into conventional outreach campaigns.
