Raise funds for heating emergencies with virtual Walk for Warmth Waddle
First annual online event seeking participants and sponsors

Virtual penguins will waddle across the finish line to raise funds for heating emergencies in Oakland and Livingston Counties in the first annual Walk for Warmth Waddle on August 25, 2010 at 12 noon. As an extension of the annual Walk for Warmth, held by Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) every February, the Waddle is seeking participants and sponsors for the virtual race.
Although the summer heat is sizzling, the anxiety of paying winter heat bills does not ease up for those in need. As our neighbors feel the burden of the downturned economy, more and more people see a looming winter in their future with fear that their homes will go un-heated. OLHSA is striving to alleviate that fear by continuing to raise funds that will help keep the heat on during tough Michigan winters. The virtual Walk for Warmth Waddle is OLHSA’s new, innovative way to achieve that.
Registered Waddle participants will be assigned cartoon penguins, complete with racing numbers and bibs, and will be able to log on to www. olhsa. org on August 25 at noon to view their penguin waddling in the race around a virtual track. Participants can also click on competing penguins to see who is in the running with them. Sponsors of the event will be displayed on the website leading up to and during the event. After the race all participants and sponsors will receive certificates of thanks for supporting the Waddle.
