Advanced Concepts Center (ACC), LLC, a learning solutions company focused on the education and knowledge transfer of information technology professionals today announced the addition of two new courses to the ACCÂ’s upgraded OO curriculum:

• Object Oriented Analysis & Design Using the Unified Modeling Language® (UML®) 2.0, and,

• Upgrading to Unified Modeling Language 2.0

OOAD Using UML 2.0 is intended for any student interested in OO and UML. During this 5-day course students will gain knowledge of how to communicate the results of the analysis process and how to structure the design architecture to ensure customer acceptance. They will develop graphical models to record and display systems data, time-dependent events, and functional requirements. We will also cover how to determine and overcome potential pitfalls. The course includes new UML 2.0 notation and techniques such as using the more powerful sequence and activity diagrams; and, understanding when to use the new interaction overview, protocol state machine, and component diagrams. To reinforce the learning objectives students will participate in over 20 exercises led by one of the ACCÂ’s expert instructors.

Additionally, the OOAD Using UML 2.0 course will include “UML 2.0 for Dummies” as a reference manual. “UML 2.0 for Dummies” published by Wiley Publishing, Inc. is co-authored by ACC Senior Consultant, Mr. James A. Schardt.

Upgrading for UML 2.0 is intended for IT professionals with previous OO and UML experience. This 3-day course is workshop-based and includes topics specific to UML 2.0, such as:

• What is new with UML 2.0 and how it compares with UML 1.

• Using activity diagrams for business workflows, use case specification, and operation realization.

• Refinement of diagrams from requirements gathering through detailed design.

• New ways to utilize component, subsystem, and deployment diagrams.

"The new ACC curriculum also supports the OMG Certified UML® Professional Exam Program," said Bill Hoffman, OMG President and COO. "The OOAD Using UML 2.0 course prepares students for the Fundamental certification, while the Upgrading to UML 2.0 course
