A treatise about the trickery of the mind: "Ways to Stay Miserable": Politics of Melancholy versus Happiness published by Publish America, LLLP.
(PRWEB) December 31, 2004
ÂWays to Stay Miserable is a treatise about the trickery of the mind based on authorÂs own experience and further observations. To bring to life her new book, ÂWays to Stay Miserable, the author, Roma Desai has developed her own impressions and drawn upon the experiences of a number of men and women through her work, journeys on the trains and buses, to give the reader an accurate impression.
The theme of the book is at different levels but is mainly about looking at Âreal and Âimaginary events and reflections on self and others. ÂMind is frequently used as a place for breeding images and thoughts from which experience comes. The author, Roma Desai, has a social work background. She was born in Srinagar, India. She was educated at Bombay University and received her post qualifying education and training in the UK. She works as an independent social worker. She has worked with childcare organisations for over twenty years. ÂWays to Stay Miserable is her first book. She lives in the UK with her husband.
She comments: The journey to become a published author was long and testing but writing is the most thrilling thing I have ever done. Indeed everyone who cared about me, many of my acquaintances, colleagues and friends as well as travelling companions through my various journeys have become characters in this book. This is a disguised book; the names and characteristics of people have been shuffled so as to render identification unattainable. This book, which reflects my experience and observations, attempts to distinguish melancholy from happiness, what it means Âhere and now.Â
ÂYou've put into words, with a pure poetic style and lexicon uniquely your own, the persistent chatter of the mind, the incessant mulling over of events and ideas, the internal dialogue of thoughts and feelings that keep us stuck in distress and misery. The book reads like poetry. It is a wonderful, engaging, heartfelt rant that awakens us to new awareness and the possibility of happiness, says one writer/poet.
ÂWays to Stay Miserable was the authorÂs first title, already a second book is in publication and more are planned. To learn more about the book, visit Roma DesaiÂs website at www. romadesai. com.
