As consumers continue to weather the worst housing crisis in 60 years, Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management is pleased to announce the launch of its new website, HomeOwnership. org (http://www. HomeOwnership. org). The website provides homeowners with expert mortgage advice, including foreclosure prevention (http://www. homeownership. org/foreclosure-help/index. aspx), reverse mortgage counseling (http://www. homeownership. org/reverse-mortgages/information. aspx) and homebuyer education (http://www. homeownership. org/buying-a-home/first-time-homebuyer-programs. aspx). Springboard is certified by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as a comprehensive housing agency and is accredited by the Council on Accreditation as a provider of high quality financial education and counseling services. "Today's launch of HomeOwnership. org demonstrates Springboard's commitment to providing the highest level of education and assistance to homeowners in need," said Melinda Opperman, vice president of community outreach and industry relations. "HomeOwnership. org is another tool developed by Springboard to meet the needs of consumers facing a variety of housing issues," said Opperman.
Homeowners facing foreclosure can schedule a priority counseling session with a certified housing counselor or may call a designated hotline for immediate help, seven days a week. Distressed homeowners can also visit http://www. HomeOwnership. org (http://www. HomeOwnership. org)] and enter basic information to determine the likelihood of a loan modification. In situations where homeowners do not qualify for a loan modification, Springboard offers two new programs - the Safe Haven(SM) and Soft Landing (http://www. homeownership. org/foreclosure-help/stop-foreclosure/alternatives/loan-modification-denied. aspx) counseling programs.
The Safe Haven(SM) program is designed for the homeowner who has sufficient income but can no longer afford the home due to high debt and monthly expenses. The Soft Landing program is designed for the homeowner who will not be able to stay in the home due to an extended hardship. Both programs were developed by Springboard in an effort to provide additional options for distressed homeowners. Springboard's certified housing counselors are available seven days a week to help homeowners transition with hope.
