The Allied Media Conference is a chance to share and celebrate the valuable contributions independent media makes in the creation of a better future in a vibrant democratic society.

HIGHLIGHTS:
 Mark Hosler of culture jamming pioneer Negativland will present the keynote address ÂAdventures in Illegal Art on Friday, June 18, at 7pm. Rumor has it that his presentation will feature the public premiere of The Mashin of the Christ, NegativlandÂs latest treat.
 Ian MacKaye, of alternative music legend Fugazi, will be performing as part of his new band, The Evens, with Amy Farina of The Warmers. Saturday, June 19, at 6pm.
 Rooftop Films is curating a free independent film festival on Saturday, June 19, from 12-5pm, which will include a special preview screening of Exist, the new film from acclaimed filmmaker Esther Bell that tells the story of two activists who take the ultimate stand for what they believe.
 The conference schedule features 29 sessions including
creative fundraising techniques starting and maintaining a media collective how to get started doing grafitti writing how to conduct a succesful video interview and everything in between how to present hard news on the radio
 The 2nd Annual Media Literacy Symposium on Friday, June 18, is directed towards teachers who want to use independent media in their classrooms. It will include presentations from Anne Elizabeth Moore, author of the new book, Hey Kidz, Buy This Book: A Radical Primer on Corporate and Governmental Propaganda and Artistic Activism for Short People, Faith Rogow, president of the Alliance for a Media Literate America; Rob Williams, president of Action Coalition for Media Education; Denisse Andrade, of Paper Tiger Television, producer of the new film Class Dismissed, which takes a critical look at how U. S. history is taught in high school.
