Cooperative Approach Expands Business Opportunities for Two Southern Oregon Photographers

Photography is a competitive field where innovation and fresh ideas are critical to sustain a successful business. A recent alliance between two Southern Oregon women entrepreneurs demonstrates how shared expertise pays off -- in viable products and expansion of an existing service.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jacksonville OR (PRWEB) December 8, 2005 -- Entrepreneurs often start their businesses with a great idea and lots of enthusiasm. Achieving success over the long haul requires much more, especially in a competitive field like photography.

Two Southern Oregon photographers are demonstrating the possibilities and expanding their product lines through a newly implemented alliance. Since 1998, Fran Fields has showcased the artwork of Southern Oregon photographers through her online marketplace, ThePhotoGuild. com. Each year, several artists work together to design and refine a wide range of photo products: Aprons, bags, cards, calendars, photo album covers, posters, prints, t shirts, totes, etc.

Last month, Fran reconnected with Patricia Bean, ThePhotoGuild. com’s Featured Artist during Spring 2003. For ten years, Patricia grew her business, Patricia Bean Photography (http://www. patriciabean. com (http://www. patriciabean. com)), from commercial work to portraiture. Expanding the customer base required innovative advertising and marketing, but staying fresh was also important.

Recently, Patricia developed something new to sustain her passion -- artistic renderings that complement her studio packages. Patricia described how it happened: “One little girl in particular inspired me to rethink her portrait. I had an image in mind, and some clothing on hand to convey the theme. I just needed the models. Fortunately, one client let me run with my vision to produce a one-of-a-kind piece of fine art, ‘Dancer’.“

This month, Patricia and Fran worked with Irelock Imaging (http://www. Irelock. com (http://www. Irelock. com)) to produce a “Dancer” note card. The image and note card information can be reviewed online at: https://www. thephotoguild. com/Dancer_PatriciaBean_2005.asp (https://www. thephotoguild. com/Dancer_PatriciaBean_2005.asp).

Cathie Izor, Member Communications Chair of Women Entrepeneurs Of Southern Oregon (WESO) observes, “When launching a new business, many taking that leap of faith find that a support system gives them resources they couldn’t develop on their own. WESO is an organization women business owners turn to for networking and support. Fran and Patricia have relied on WESO in the past and continued that relationship in their latest venture.”

The timing was fortuitous for the holiday season, too. Last year, Fran and Patricia independently captured scenic images of Victorian Christmas in their hometown of Jacksonville, Oregon. This month, two of Patricia’s winter views were added to the ThePhotoGuild. com’s “Landmark” and “Homes & Inns” series of Holiday Cards.
