'Temping with Tycoons: Reinvention Lessons for the Laid Off Leader' - A Special Report on How Lazard Frères was the Author's Business School

During the recession of the early 1990's, Leigh Henderson worked as a temporary secretary at the quiet giant of Wall Street Lazard Frères & Co. Now during an even deeper recession, Leigh turns her stories from what she calls "the business school I could afford" into reinvention lessons for those laid off and looking leaders who may have to take a step back on the corporate ladder to survive.

New York, New York (PRWEB) April 1, 2009

Leadership Training Room, a management consulting and leadership coaching firm, today announced the release of "Temping with Tycoons: Reinvention Lessons for the Laid off Leader," a free level playing field special report about how owner and author Leigh Henderson used the Wall Street investment bank Lazard Frères & Co. as the business school she could afford.

"I wrote this report to inspire and motivate leaders who, because of the recession, are working below their skills and education levels," states Ms. Henderson, LTR's managing director. "During the recession of the early 1990's, being a temporary secretary at Lazard became a stable source of income for me. It also provided the experiences I needed to reinvent myself as a leadership coach and organizational consultant."

Readers will be able to create their own reinvention initiative by answering questions at the end of each chapter of Ms. Henderson's report and will learn how to: 1) use the workplace as a training room; 2) practice active patience; 3) develop resiliency to remain relevant; 4) engage in meaningful activities; and 5) stay focused on specific goals.

"I can identify with what leaders who have had to take a step back on the corporate ladder are going through now. It wasn't easy being a temp--my ego suffered and my patience was stretched. Yet, I remained engaged and challenged myself to learn from the brilliant yet often difficult people around me," states the Adjunct Instructor in Management Department at the Zicklin School of Business, part of Baruch College in New York City.

What started out for Ms. Henderson as a two-week assignment on August 21, 1989, evolved into over five years sitting at the right hands of the gods of Wall Street, including a former U. S. Secretary of the Treasury. Each assignment became a class in organizational behavior, management, the multigenerational workplace, etc. for the former sixth grade teacher. "I kept a journal and would write out lists of effective--and ineffective--behaviors plus notes on what I overheard and observed as if I were in a graduate business class," recalls the trusted advisor and wise coach. "I also learned how to laugh at situations--like when a partner asked me to personally deliver his morning stool sample to a local hospital."

Founded in 2000, Leadership Training Room helps leaders level the playing field of obstacles blocking optimum performance and career advancement. Organizations retain Ms. Henderson to create customized development programs and executive coaching initiatives. Executives and individuals seek her services on their own in order to achieve greater effectiveness in their current positions and to develop strategies for a meaningful career.
