Los Angeles (PRWEB) April 5, 2004 -

– A growing list of LA’s hottest artists, fashion designers, bands and disc jockeys are quickly lining up to be a part of Party With A Purpose 2, the second in a series of events geared at increasing volunteerism and philanthropy among Angelenos. Riding on the heel’s of last year’s successful event at sixspace gallery, Party With A Purpose 2 will take place on Saturday, April 17th from 7-10:00 PM at Inshallah Gallery (244 South Main Street) in Downtown Los Angeles.

Party With A Purpose is a growing network of visual and performing artists, professionals, community volunteers and non-profit agencies who share a common vision for a better LA. Started by 4 friends in a Hollywood apartment, the endeavor aims to provide emerging artists and performers with venues and audiences, energize non-profit organizations, and motivate community building. Party With A Purpose co-founder Jessica Berman explains: “In a city as big as Los Angeles, building community is very challenging. Our events remind attendees that everyone has something to contribute to help others, and highlight the diversity of opportunity and talent all around us. In the process, everyone gets a chance to have fun together as well.”

On April 17, partygoers will celebrate AIDS Service Center (ASC), a multi-service AIDS service organization that helps individuals infected and affected by HIV and AIDS throughout Los Angeles County. “We at ASC are very excited to be working with “Party With a Purpose”. The expression of life through art and community fit perfectly with who we are. Quality of life is so important to us. It is one of the driving factors in the services that we provide to our clients.” comments Anthony Guthmiller, ASC’s Director of Marketing.

On the Walls: Larger than life, a multi-media art exhibition of cosmic proportions curated by performing and visual artist Chris Sicat. The show will highlight the work of Brian Ida, Chris Ellis, Ed Gomez, Marvin Jordano, Zandy Mangold, Chris Tallon, Ry Rocklin, Steve Sobalvarro, Matt Thompson and Tony de Carlo. All of the artists have donated time to the event and will contribute the proceeds of the sale of their work to ASC.

“The show is an exciting way for a diverse group of artists to display together under one roof,” says exhibition curator Chris Sicat, “The range of artwork rovers into the boldness and complexities of our challenges in culture and politics, in which the problems and solutions are larger than life, a great fit for Party With A Purpose.”

On the Models: Walking models will be dressed by Los Angeles fashion designers Maggie Barry, Dress-Codes by Jasmine Sterling, Shannon English and paucity LA.

On the Decks: Jerry Royalle, Dithmar, and Kobol – a project of former members of the Nortec Collective.

Live Music: Mimensis, Foreign and Domestic
