Susan Jarema, mother and creator of the Googol Power Math Series, is excited to see her first CD, Multiplication Vacation, nominated for “Canada’s Favourite Children’s Group.” “Our album has won several educational awards in the U. S.,” Jarema explains, “but it’s especially exciting to see an educational album recognized in the Canadian music community.”

The Canadian Independent Music Awards is part of the 5th Annual Canadian Music Week (March 2-5, 2005), taking place in Toronto. It is Canada's largest annual entertainment event. Winners are chosen through an online voting poll, open to music fans from Feb 1st to 14th at www. cmw. net.

So, what is this NEW group Googol Power? Created by Jarema and her children, the “Googols” are seven bird-like characters from another Galaxy that have come to Earth to help children learn about their own world, math and space. The Googol Power Team is made up of 22 puppets and 7 illustrated characters. Behind the scenes is an artistic collaboration of talented songwriters, entertainers and vocal talents including David Pavane, Yurgen Ilaender (Mr. I), Gary Huntbatch, Jon Hemingway, Christine Frandsen, Krista Pavane, Mick Dalla-Vee and Leslie Hepburn.

The Multiplication Vacation CD and the Googol Power Math Series was inspired last year by Jarema’s two young children. “I wanted to create something educational and entertaining that the whole family could enjoy.” Jarema quickly assembled a talented team to help bring her vision of ‘layered learning’ to life.

Jarema convinced David Pavane to join the project as Music Director. Pavane, a father of four, was pleasantly surprised by the realization that all styles of music can appeal to every age group. “I'm writing some of the best music of my career,” says Pavane, “and both children and adults are loving it.”

“There is googols to learn with music,” says Jarema, “and it fits well into our busy lifestyles. I play educational music for my children in the car all the time. They don’t even realize they are learning important facts that will give them a head start and build confidence at school.”

Jarema also supports fellow artists in the edu-tainment industry. “We discovered so many other albums that teach curriculum through music that we decided to start Googol Learning Fundraising (www. googollearning. com) to promote family learning and to share other educational music products with parents. Schools can raise funds, artists can promote their work and everyone can learn!”

Multiplication Vacation is available at local bookstores, educational stores and at www. googolpower. com. The Addition Celebration CD and the DVD of Multiplication Vacation are scheduled for release in the next two months.
