Plancher Orthopaedics Welcomes New Team Doctor to Its Group

Plancher Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is pleased to announce that Dr. Jaspreet (Jessy) Sekhon has joined their practice. "Dr. Sekhon brings a lot of enthusiasm and cutting edge sports medicine experience to our practice from the West Coast," notes Dr. Kevin Plancher, Founder of Plancher Orthopaedics. "We are very excited to have him join our group, as he is bringing all new minimally invasive techniques of hip arthroscopy." His national perspective will be an exciting addition to our sports practice.
Dr. Sekhon was accepted to Northwestern University's Honors Program in Medical Education from high school, and graduated with both an undergraduate degree in psychology and a medical degree in just seven years. Dr. Sekhon then enrolled in a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at The Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan. There, Dr. Sekhon gained an extensive broad based experience in orthopaedic trauma and sports arthroscopy, as well as experience providing orthopaedic care to several professional sports teams in the area.
Following his residency, Dr. Sekhon enrolled in a fellowship program in sports medicine at the UCLA Medical Center, where he received advanced training in cutting edge surgical techniques such as arthroscopic instability procedures, rotator cuff repair, revision ACL reconstruction, and hip and ankle arthroscopy. Dr. Sekhon will be one of the few orthpaedics surgeons in the tri-state area to have received fellowship training in the area of hip arthroscopy, which is a growing, cutting edge technique in sports medicine. Dr. Sekhon also served as an assistant team physician to various UCLA NCAA Division I sports teams, including football and soccer.
Dr. Sekhon is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Sports Medicine, the Detroit Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Western Orthopaedic Association, the Michigan Orthopaedic Society, and the American Medical Association. He has been published in the Journal of Knee Surgery and given numerous presentations on various orthopaedic conditions.
Dr. Sekhon is very excited about his future at Plancher Orthopaedics. "My goal is restore an active quality of life to all of my patients, using the latest operative and nonoperative techniques. Through patient education and direct involvement in the decision-making process, I hope to provide the highest quality orthopaedic care possible to this community."
