The Art Institute of California – Inland Empire, located in San Bernardino, has recently appointed Michele Ferren as the school’s Assistant Director of Human Resources. With six years in the human resources field, Ferren clearly understands the intricacies of this complex profession.

Before joining the school, Ferren was the human resources clerk and later the human resources assistant for the Del Webb Corporation in Las Vegas. She then moved to California and worked as the assistant director of human resources at The Art Institute of California – Los Angeles.

Ferren is responsible for recruiting the school’s faculty and staff, developing and then administering the varied benefits and worker compensation programs the school offers to its employees, and assuring the operation adheres to all the state’s and nation’s labor laws and accreditation standards. Additionally, Ferren will be training and instructing the school’s staff on human resources matters, including preventing sexual harassment in the workplace.

Also falling within her duties are assuring timely payroll and establishing a recognition awards program to honor the school’s top performers in various capacities.

Ferren, a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Humboldt State University and a certificate in Human Resources Management from California State University, Long Beach. She is also a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) candidate at Argosy University/Orange County.

The Art Institute of California – Inland Empire, located at 630 East Brier Drive in San Bernardino, consists of 33,500 square feet of space, including a library, bookstore, classrooms, and computer labs. Classes start January 9, 2006.

This institution has received approval to operate from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education, 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite S 202, Sacramento, CA 95834, (916) 574-7720, www. bppve. ca. gov, in order to enable the Bureau to conduct a quality inspection of the institution.
