Boris Johnson's drive to create more apprenticeships and training opportunities across London has steered him towards Tim Campbell, CEO of Bright Ideas Trust. He has appointed Tim as the Mayor's Ambassador for Training and Enterprise.

As CEO of Bright Ideas Trust, Tim is helping young people aged 16-30 develop their business idea. They offer support in the form of funding as well as continual advice from business experts. Tim stated “Through my discussions with the Mayor’s team the synergy of their goals and ours became obvious. We both wish to improve the situation for young people in London and feel in these particular times, things are very difficult”.

Initially, the voluntary role will focus on a major campaign to increase the number of apprentices across London and develop the Mayor’s overall apprenticeship strategy. The Mayor also wants to draw on Tim’s unique motivational, business and leadership skills to inspire business and Londoners and companies to develop and become involved in new training opportunities, as well as setting up new businesses in the capital. The Mayor felt Tim, through his role at Bright Ideas Trust, was “incredibly suited to this important challenge, bringing extensive business experience and investment in London's aspiring entrepreneurs.“

On his appointment, Tim commented “London is a great city of opportunity brimming with ideas and talent that we continually harness. There is also a huge, untapped talent pool hidden within businesses and individuals across our capital. The key to unlocking it is the development of real in-work training initiatives that allow people to realise their potential and businesses to develop those home-grown skills to the benefit of the company.

“Some of those on apprenticeships will come up with bright ideas for creating wealth and this will also be a key focus for me. I am looking forward to working closely with the Mayor and his team in supporting exciting new training opportunities across London."

Boris Johnson believes “London’s future prosperity depends on the quality and skills of its workforce and it is essential at this time that we step up a gear in our drive to create more training opportunities across the city. His [Tim’s] understanding of London and its businesses, plus his unwavering enthusiasm, will inspire and motivate others to ingrain training initiatives into the heart of their business planning and make the most of the talent we have in London."
