It has just been confirmed that Full Sail University (fullsail. edu (http://www. fullsail. edu)), an award winning entertainment media institution, has been named the international title holder and officially set the Guinness World Record (TM) for the “World’s Largest Torchlit (Flashlight) Logo/Image Formed by People.” YouTube video can be found here. The attempt took place on January 12, 2010 on the Full Sail University campus, and featured the Full Sail University logo and a message which read, “Full Sail University Wishes You a Happy New Year.” The requirements to set the world record were extensive, and included needing over 500 people, each holding their own individual flashlight, for a total of five minutes to form the logo and image. The attempt was completed with a total of 528 people comprising the logo/image, as well as nearly 200 additional people who came out to support this effort. The world record attempt was documented by a film and photography crew who captured the event by helicopter.

The flashlights purchased and used in the attempt were collected at the conclusion of the event and both flashlights and new batteries were donated to the local Central Florida organization, Harvest Time International (http://www. harvest-time. org (http://www. harvest-time. org)) for the benefit of earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

“Full Sail University is built on the foundation of real world experience,” said Kristin Weissman, Director of Public Relations, Full Sail University. “Setting this Guinness World Record (TM) was a unique way to not only garner the Full Sail University community spirit, but also to showcase an example of creative viral marketing and brand recognition while engaging current and future students.”
