Celebrate Spring With Wellness and Vitality -- Friday May 12, Holistic Open House at New York Open Center
The New York Open Center -- the city’s leading center for holistic education and world culture -- will host an evening of free classes, live music, and wine and cheese, on Friday, May 12, 2006 (6-10pm). The event will kick off the Spring/Summer programming and will include sample classes with teachers such as best-selling author and intuitive Laura Day, career coach Allie Roth, and Native American scholar Evan Pritchard.

The New York Open Center -- the city’s leading center for holistic education and world culture -- will host an evening of free classes, live music, and wine and cheese, on Friday, May 12, 2006. The event will kick off the Spring/Summer programming and will include sample classes with teachers such as best-selling author and intuitive Laura Day, career coach Allie Roth, and Native American scholar Evan Pritchard.
Additional season launch events continue through May 22 with free introductory evening workshops in yoga, Zen healing, photography, belly dancing and more. Exclusive Open House and Free Intro discounts will be available on-site.
The Open House -- at 83 Spring Street -- will run from 6:00-10:00pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample programs, meet with the highly-respected faculty, browse the bookstore, and discuss upcoming Open Center workshops, lectures, and performances with programming staff.
Mini-wellness sessions will also be available for $10; Scheduling will be done on-site, on a first come, first served basis.

Self-Inquiry Meditation -- Thomas Amelio intensively studied yogic disciplines in India, where he edited Rajarshi Muni’s classic, Yoga-The Ultimate Spiritual Path, in 1994. He is a founding member of, and has been a senior teacher at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health for 20 years.
Introduction to Reiki -- Margaret Ann Case, is a Reiki Master, Polarity Practitioner, interfaith minister and spiritual counselor, mentor, and coach. She is the Founder & Director of Reiki Arts Continuum and has been a practitioner and teacher for over 12 years.

Healing with Chinese Herbs & Whole Foods -- Drew DiVittorio, Dipl Ch, is a national board certified Chinese Herbologist. He received his diploma in Oriental Medicine from the School of Classical Chinese Herbology in New York City. He has a private practice in New York and Connecticut.

Four Paths to Wholeness: Algonquin Teachings -- Evan Pritchard is of Micmac (Algonquin) and Celtic descent, and is author of Native New Yorkers and No Word For Time. Founder/Director of the Center for Algonquin Culture and professor at Marist College in NY, he is a frequent lecturer and guest on WBAI, WNYC, and ABC.
Discovering Your Soul's Work -- Allie Roth, MA, a career consultant with over 20 years of experience in Fortune 500 companies, counsels individuals and groups on career transitions and professional development by integrating traditional counseling with Easter and Western spiritual traditions.

Introduction to Aromatherapy -- Linda Tilton BFA, MSC, is the director of the New York Open Center’s Wellness Department. She is has a private practice in NYC and is the founder of Women Inspiring Women, which offers workshops in well-being, aromatherapy and healing.
